Summary
“Finish the story,” Phainon prompts, and it comes out kind of quiet, kind of weird.
“He fell in love with a warrior in Okhema,” Mydei tells him, sliding a hand under his pillow. “They were equals in just about everything, and that’s… significant to a Kremnoan. He died sacrificing himself to buy that warrior time to save the city.”
“That sounds like something a hero would do to me.”
“Maybe,” Mydei grumbles. “A real hero wouldn’t leave the one he loves to fight alone.”

Summary
“Tough luck, puppy. You disobeyed me and you have to be punished for it,” Mydei drawls. “Listen to me. I'm going to keep you in bed all day—on a leash if I have to. I'll keep you full, make you cry if you still won't behave. And when I’m done with you, you will know never to anger me again.”
Phainon lets out an involuntary moan as his knees go weak.

Summary
Out of the corner of his eye, he sees Phainon standing there, as still as a ghost. And as pale as one, too. The dim, golden lighting of the bathhouse blurs the sharp angles of his silhouette, casting an eerie glow around him; if not for the fact that Mydei can still hear the faint staccato of his breaths, it’s almost as if he isn’t there at all.
So, it’s one of those days, then.
In which; Phainon seeks comfort, and Mydei overthinks.

Summary
Lygus awaits him in the Vortex of Genesis, as he always does.
“I see you’ve revisited cycle ten’s strategy.” He says evenly, like a man remarking upon the state of the weather and not the conductor of perfect doom, tuning the chords of ceaseless agony. “Tell me, how many times before you cease your pointless rebellion?”
To his resounding silence, he replies: "That's alright. I have all the time in the world to wait."
There is no gentle eternity.
