Chapter Text

An hour after the attack…

[KIRISHIMA’S POV]

“WHY DIDN’T YOU WAIT? THEY COULD HAVE MADE IT!” you fumbled out to the teachers on the ship.

All of 1-A were currently gathered around the cockpit of the ship trying to get the captain to turn around so they could pick up Bakugou and Y/n. Nezu, the principal, was currently trying to calm down the students as he spoke, “I’m sorry but we can’t turn the ship around. You see all the individuals on this ship? The captain and I would be putting them in grave danger just for two students.”

“JUST TWO STUDENTS?!? We had enough time for them to make it. We still have time to go back, we’ve only been flying for an hour, they could still be in the same spot!” you confidently stood up to Nezu. You couldn’t believe the principal wouldn’t even turn around for just a moment to get your friends. How cruel, you thought. You felt a sick twist in your stomach as you admitted to yourself that you were such a horrible friend. Bakugou was your best friend, even if he didn’t want to say it, so how could you not even protect your own friend? You were so unmanly.

You were frustrated and it seemed so was the rest of 1-A. Especially Aizawa.

“Again children I am sorry, but we are not turning around. That is a risk I am not willing to take for the sake of the other students lives,” Nezu calmly but sternly said to the students. He wasn’t going to change his mind. That damn rat bastard.

“THIS IS SO UNFAIR! THEY’RE OUR FRIENDS! WE CAN’T LEAVE THEM ON EARTH” Mina huffed to the principal Nezu.

“YEA!” multiple students voices called out.

“Principal Nezu, I understand the risk, but we can’t just leave Kacchan and Y/n on Earth. Do you know how dangerous it is? I know the both of them are immensely strong but leaving them with the condition that the Earth is in currently, is like murder!” Deku muttered. You knew Deku would do anything to get Bakugou, his childhood friend, back with the rest of the class. Even though their relationship was strained, Deku, and even Bakugou, still cared for each other in a way that others could not and did not understand.

“Exactly! I know we’ve trained for this, but with how U.A was taken over, how will they survive on the planet?” Uraraka called out, agreeing with Deku’s mumbling.

“Students I will not say this again. We are not going back. In fact, they were one of our strongest students resided at U.A. I believe they will be able to survive even with the conditions,” Nezu said, clearly getting frustrated with the students talking back against his opinion.

“That doesn’t mean anything! Just because Kacchan and Y/n are strong, doesn’t mean they couldn’t die. I know Kacchan is skilled, but he shouldn’t even still be on the Earth. He was protecting the students from that creature, yet we can’t go back to get him? How are they supposed to get back to our class? How are they going to get a ship or even get to Mars? I know they are both smart, but the Earth barely has any resources because of the apocalypse,” Deku continued to ramble. He was serious about getting Kacchan and Y/n back, and so were you.

“I agree with Midoriya. As the class president I believe that all members of class 1-A should currently be on the ship, not left behind on Earth. We should have enough time to retract our steps, get Bakugou and Y/n, and then head to Mars sir,” Iida commanded out loud to principal Nezu as well.

“Class go back with the other students while I handle the situation at hand. I will make sure that we get Bakugou and Y/n back. Now go,” Aizawa informed the class.

We all turned praying that Sensei would be able to convince the principal to change his mind. Bakugou and Y/n were our friends, and it was wrong to just leave them behind. It felt odd not having Bakugou and Y/n screaming at each other every second of the day. It felt like there was a giant hole within the class. You couldn’t stand it.

“Guys” you turned to the class once out of the range of the teachers. They all shifted to look at you, listening to what you had to say.

“If principal Nezu doesn’t change his mind, then we’ll be the ones to step up and get our friends back” you said with full conviction. You looked at Deku and you both silently agreed with each other, nodding in agreement, that you would get Bakugou and Y/n back no matter what it took.

“Let’s do it,” the class smiled back. Even Iida agreed that we would save our friends if the teachers did not.

[Y/N’S POV]

What the fuck was this feeling. You felt like you were getting suffocated. Something was wrapped so tightly around your waist that you almost couldn’t breathe. Did you tie the rope to tight? No that couldn’t be, you had checked before you went to sleep.

All of a sudden you felt something with a scaly, rough texture glide past your arm. WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT you screamed in your head. You quickly opened your eyes. As you looked straight across you couldn’t help but see a tail that was hanging on the other tree, a couple feet ahead of you. What could have a tail that long?

Your eyes slowly gilded up from the tail to the other scaly length that was intertwined within the trees and branches. How long was this thing’s fucking body? As your eyes made it to your stomach seeing as it was gliding past you to wrap around a tree to the right of you, you froze.

You turned your head to look in the direction of Bakugou. He seemed to have been trying to get your attention for a while now as he scowled at you, whisper-shouting your name. You could see that the scaly body was also around his body as well. You didn’t say anything to him yet though. You just continued to look past him and jolted in fear.

The thing currently wrapped around you both was a snake, but a 50-foot long one at that. It was a replica of the snake from Jurassic times, the Titanoboa. But it was bigger, longer, and deadlier.

When you were a kid you were obsessed with dinosaurs. Everything about them fascinated you. Your absolute favorite one was the Brachiosaurus. Most likely why you loved giraffes so much too.

They both had long necks which you could kind of relate too. Not that your neck was that long, but it was a good length. Not only that but they were always known to be the friendlier type of dinosaur during the Jurassic period. They were herbivores so eating people was not on their agenda. Which was why you gravitated more towards them.

You always wanted dinosaurs, well at least, brachiosauruses to be real. But now that a real life mutated Titanoboa was steadily locking you and Bakugou into place among the tree branches. You wished you never did.

After the apocalypse throughout the Earth happened, mammals from your time had stark differences than before, and even some extinct animals from centuries before returned. Mammals, amphibians, bugs, and even a small number of animals from centuries ago, had come back, but with enhancements.

In U.A, all classes were required to study up on these altercations. Humans definitely couldn’t have survived during the Jurassic ages, but now, there was no possibility they could survive unless those individuals were trained. So in U.A, you all were.

Mammals like lions and sharks had the same senses that were already sharp but were intensified greatly and they gained immense amounts of strength. Amphibians were greater in their movements, more poisonous, and could even blind you with their poison and paralyze you for 10 minutes; giving them enough time to kill you. Bugs like millipedes gained properties that made them more agile, grew exceedingly larger, and they could even severely burn you with their saliva if it landed on your bare skin.

The creatures responsible for your mom’s murder and the attack on U.A were not a dinosaur though. They were formed during the apocalypse and most likely created because of nuclear emissions and toxicities. They might not have been the strongest predators, but they had better abilities than others. Though being deaf, their 4 other senses were heightened. They could smell your scent meters away and could even see-through things, like x-ray vision. Let’s not forget, their claws are one of the sharpest nicks about them, being more edgier than the sharpest sword in the world.

Earth truly had become a deadly place…

Finally you looked in Bakugou’s direction again.

He definitely was angry from you ignoring him, but you were kind of having a nervous breakdown. I mean this snake was big as fuck and could eat you whole without a doubt. You felt like screaming. You just wished you were on the ship as of now, not about to get suffocated by a mutated snake that shouldn’t even be alive.

Finally after you calmed down you spoke.

“Bakugou,” you licked your dry lips “What are we going to do?” you questioned in a panic. You could see the head of the Titanoboa not far away from you guys. It seemed it was eating a live animal that it found. Looking closer, you could see that it was eating a deer, a whole live one.

“Now you can speak…” he grumbled out “I have a plan, but you need to do what I say.” He spoke low but not enough that you couldn’t form the words that he was saying. You guessed that if this gigantic ass snake heard or felt any movement from you both, it would attack.

“Go ahead,” you nodded to his words. You just wanted to escape the snakes grasp so you could get a move on. You still had a formulated plan for travel, but you didn’t need to tell Bakugou about it until you were both free.

He took a deep breath…

“First make sure your emotions in check. I don’t need your shitty ass getting us killed because your nervous. Calm the fuck down,” he said bluntly.

You couldn’t help but roll your eyes, but you did as he said with a huff.

“Alright, see how far its head is away from us,” his calloused finger pointed to where the snake was currently finishing off its meal of another deer, “as long as we don’t get bitten, we should be good. We need to get our ropes off of us first.”

“The idea I got is going to fucking work, but you got to be quick,” he told me, voice serious.

We both sucked in our stomachs trying to make room so that we could untie our rope that was around our waists without disturbing the Boa. We moved swiftly but cautiously. You both weren’t trying to get eaten on the first full day of being in the wild.

“Now I’m thinking we could do a zipline type of situation with our ropes. We don’t have enough room or anything else to get down the tree with, so this is our best bet. Don’t fuck this up,” he looked at you sternly. He then pointed to the lowest point of the snake’s abdomen that almost reached the ground, just a few inches off of it. “We can get down that way, but we got to go fast. Snakes reflexes are quick, so it’ll start moving once we do,” he ended off for the plan. “I’m gonna need your shitty ass to survive this, got it?” he faced you, a look of worry sketched on his face, but shortly removed a second later.

“I got this Dandelion. Just don’t die on me. I’d rather not be alone in the wild without you nerd” you smirked with mischief. You both softly threw your ropes around the width of the snake’s body, gripping both sides of it tightly, ready to progress with the plan.

You knew he wanted to yell at you, and you inwardly chuckled because he couldn’t. With a head nod as conformation to start, you gripped the sides of the rope tighter and descended.

You peered over at the snake’s head already acknowledging that it sensed your motions and was coming for you and Bakugou. But both of you were gliding down so fast because of the smooth body of the Boa that it might not even reach you.

You wished you didn’t just jinx yourself.

In a split second, the snake seemed to move rapidly towards you both. It had a hungry look in its eyes as it was reaching its jaw towards you both.

As it was getting ready to clamp down its jaw, it missed you and Bakugou as you both dropped the rope in the right moment when you met the spot that was lowest to the ground from the snake’s body.

Bakugou quickly hopped on his feet, yelling at you to hurry up as you dashed to run with him.

The snake shook off its loss to its prey and began to hunt you guys. It studied both of your movements, slithering the length of its body from tree to tree. Trying to outstretch itself to be able to poison you both with a quick nip to your skin.

It would never get that chance though.

Its head was gaining up to the back of your head as you and Bakugou were zigzagging through the tress heading North. You swiveled around when you felt it too close, running backwards, and slashed its tongue as its teeth, that was dripping poison, was extending out towards you.

The Titanoboa hissed, retracting itself back in pain and stopping its chase. Giving you the opportunity to turn around and shout to Bakugou that you injured it.

The Boa then snapped out of its stun. Angry that its prey was able to remove its tongue, it lunged at Bakugou.

You yelled out in fright for Bakugou to turn around.

Bakugou was prepared though.

With a swift jab from his dagger, he stabbed the Boa in its eye. Stunning it completely from movement. The head fell to the floor, body sagging from its grip on the trees as pain overtook it.

You looked at Bakugou in awe, only for a moment, at his quick thinking. You admired Bakugou even if you didn’t want to admit it.

Snapping out of your thoughts, you both continued to run, without stopping, far away from the body of the Titanoboa.

As Bakugou and you kept running, you both turned to each other in a child-like manner. Momentarily, laughing to each other for beating the big bad “monster” that was after you both.

Soft expressions, hearty giggles and laughs could be heard within the range of the forest near both of your bodies. It was another moment of peace between you and Bakugou. The world bringing you both into a heartfelt moment before it switched off.

You were the first to twirl your head to face the front, trying to focus on what’s up ahead, rather than the instant you just had with Bakugou. Following your lead, though he never listens to anyone, he veered his head away as well. Cheeks dusting pink from the gentle look that graced your face when you looked at him just a minute ago.

Trapped in your own mind, all you could do was run until you found a safe clearing for you both.

It seemed like you were always running, not just from predators, but the hidden feelings you didn’t notice too.

---

Finally, you both had run into an open field that particularly deemed to be safe. Though you kept your guard up just in case for any danger that could suddenly appear.

Dropping to the ground, you both huffed out breaths of air. You couldn’t breathe. It felt like your lungs were going to collapse with how much extensive running you had been doing. U.A was known for having their students run at least 7 miles a day, but back-to-back running hurt.

It was like you guys couldn’t catch a break, but that was to be expected.

You just wished you guys could stop and formulate a full plan for just a second. The packs you both had was filled for your survival needs, but it didn’t come with shelter. And that’s exactly what you needed.

You didn’t want what just happened with that boa to occur again.

As you lay in the grass catching your breath, you started coming up with ideas for shelter.

If you both could find a cave or someplace that was save enough to set camp, then you needed to find it today. Since it was around morning, it was a perfect time to find a place to be able to rest for a couple of days before you both needed to keep moving.

You wanted a good rest, but you weren’t going to risk getting one until you found a good place that was disaster proof for the both of you.

“Bakugou,” you began to start, “I feel like we should use today to find a shelter. We obviously can’t sleep in trees anymore and I don’t want us to be traveling without a decent place to find rest… so we should look for a cave or something.”

Bakugou was already standing up, with his hands placed behind his head, he looked to you before turning his head to say “I already knew that. I figure we pick an area that is high up like a mountain. Then we could find a cave to stay in for a little while. I want to check out the mountains and forest before we head to any cities.”

“I agree. Staying higher up is still the safe solution,” you said before dragging yourself up.

“Again, I know. So get your lazy ass up so we can start climbing,” he huffed out in annoyance.

“Are you not tired from the running we just did?” you questioned in disbelief. How was he not tired? You knew you probably looked a mess with your sweaty hair that curled more in your face and how much you were panting like a dog.

“I don’t get tired,” he simply stated.

“Whatever asshole,” you mumbled under your breath with a roll of your eyes.

You both started trekking through the grass plain heading North in search for some type of mountain. You were hoping that there would be one close enough so that searching wouldn’t take too long.

As you were both walking, you couldn’t stop yourself from humming a tune under your breath that your mom always used to sing to you.

“If I could… I’d give you the world”

“My angel… my angel… you’re my angel”

“What the fuck are you singing,” Bakugou grumbled to you. He would never admit it but you voice was really nice to listen to, especially with all the quietness that was in the air.

“A song my mom always used to sing to me,” you spoke, smiling at the memory.

---

[FLASHBACK FROM Y/N’S PAST]

Your mom turned to 8-year-old you in the car smiling and singing as the song began on the radio. She always told you that the song “Angel” by Lalah Hathaway, reminded her of you. You quite literally were an angel in her life.

After your father had left her for another woman, she was a mess. The only positive thing that kept her going was you. She knew that your father leaving had hurt you deeply with how much you protected her from any other men that tried to come in both of your lives.

Your strong attitude was able to get rid of many men that were only trying to use her for sexual relations rather than an actually romantic one. And even those just trying to control her.

You truly were her blessing.

She turned up the radio as the lyrics blasted…

“You’re so strong…my angel… my angel,” she kept singing to you with a warm smile on her face.

“You’re my angel,” you joined in as you both sang in unison together while driving down the highway.

---

Small tears rolled down your cheeks as you thought about your mom. You missed her every day after she passed away. You couldn’t forget how she told you to run and not look back when the creature attacked her. Just the fear in her eyes made you want to protect her. You always protected her, but in that moment, she had protected you.

“Shit,” Bakugou looked at you in concern as you looked away whipping your tears. You didn’t want to cry in front of Bakugou, you hated crying in front of people but with the memory you didn’t even realize you were.

“Are you good?” Bakugou asked you awkwardly. He had never been good at comforting people when they cried. He was inwardly freaking out even if he couldn’t understand why he felt guilty for your tears. He NEVER felt bad when people cried. But you had never cried in front of him before, so it was kind of uncomfortable.

“What does it look like?” you laughed out at his tense stance. Bakugou was such a dumbass you thought.

“Fuck you! I was trying to check up on you and you want to be sarcastic.” He turned away with a small smirk that you couldn’t see. He was happy he was able to get you out of the little funk you were in.

“Whatever,” you snickered, “You suck at comforting people, but thanks,” you smiled at him so sweetly before whipping the smile off your face.

“Yeah, Yeah… I’m not your therapist so don’t expect me to be,” he said in quick defense to the little smile you gave him that made him feel a sensation in his stomach.

You both kept walking through the field for 2 hours before almost reaching the mountain side that was only a couple meters away. You were just thankful that you wouldn’t have to go searching for hours just to find a mountain. The only hard thing would be climbing it. It looked pretty rigid and steep so you just hoped you wouldn’t fall. That shit would be a pain.

It had only taken you both around a couple hours to cross the grass plain, but climbing a mountain was different. Bakugou looked at the mountain with a smug smirk. As a kid his parents always took him camping and mountain climbing, so he wouldn’t have a problem with getting up the steep mountain. It was his favorite thing to do when he had time so he was thrilled.

He quickly peeped at your nervous looking face before snickering quietly. He could guess by your facial expression that you weren’t used to climbing which meant he beat you at something.

He couldn’t just forget that you were always above him in training class so he couldn’t help the pride that filled his voice as he asked, “Why do you look so nervous? Can’t climb?”

“What?” you thought he was asking genuinely but when you saw the smirk on his face, you couldn’t help but get irritated.

“Shut up! I know how to climb a fucking mountain!!” you huffed out.

You suddenly smirked as a thought appeared in your head. You couldn’t help but add on, “You’re just mad that you FINALLY can brag about beating me since I’m always winning against you.”

“HAH?! WHAT DID YOU SAY?!” he screamed out chasing you as you ran towards the base of the mountain.

“LOSER!!” you yelled out while laughing. He was always so easy to tease.

“YOU FUCKING BITCH!!” he yelled out in fake anger while gaining on your form ahead of him.

Running through the field, you both completely forgot about the outside world. The dangers that could have appeared were blurred and unimportant for all the laughter that was filling you both.

You felt content, and so did he.

By the time he snatched you up by your shoulders, you were both already at the base. You looked up seeing how tall the mountain was. Searching with your eyes for a cave that might be close but not too close to the ground. Bakugou seemed to do the same as he let you go.

“I can’t see a cave from where we’re standing, so let’s get climbing. We might find one while climbing,” he spoke to you. He was extremely excited to climb, he missed the high winds that would brush his skin when he made it to a high altitude.

“Welp, then let’s get going blondie. We ain’t got all day,” you said as you walked forward, to the enormous mountain base, already getting ready to climb.

“HEY! Get behind me!” he shouted out as he began to speed up so he could climb first. You shook your head and thought, I bet his ass was always the line leader in preschool.

Alright let’s do this (Y/N), you spoke through your mind, trying to encourage yourself. Let’s just hope you would be able to find a shelter before dark.
