Summary:

Hoseok's life is, quite frankly, a chaotic mess. When he signed up to work as a Hybrid shelter employee, he didn't know what he'd be getting himself into. From hybrid catching, to yard fights, to copious amounts of sex and OMG IS THAT HYBRID HAVING A PUP, this job couldn't possibly be any crazier. Will these hybrids learn to trust and love him and eachother, or will it all become one big moshpit?

"Hobi, we need you behind the superstore parking lot."

Hobi sighed, letting the pen he was using roll from his fingers and onto the table. He'll just finish the forms later. Getting up, he walked over towards the door, slipping on his heavy jacket and grabbing a few hybrid leads hung up on the coatrack. Water splashed up as he made his way through rain puddles to get to the old company van, pulling the door open and hopping in.

Once he shut it, he pulled out his walkie talkie again, holding it up to his face as he pushed the button on the side.

"What do we have?"

Hobi took his finger off the button, waiting for a response.

"...5 Wolf Hybrids. Two toddler pups and 3 adults."

"Feral?"

"Of course, Hobi, they're wolves."

Hoseok's eyes slowly slid over to gaze at the 3 measly leads sitting in the passengers seat.

"I don't think we have more than 3 leads. The company still hasn't replaced the old ones that broke from the Great Dane Hybrid."

He could hear an exasperated sigh on the other end of the walkie talkie. Hoseok waited for the other to collect themselves, nervously chewing on his bottom lip.

"Just use cages for the toddlers. We'll grab the adults first and the toddlers will be inclined to follow their parents." Hobi shrugged. That'll work.

"Okay. See you there." He took his finger off the button, tossing the walkie talkie onto the passengers seat. Getting out, he made sure there were cages in the back of the van, and then drove off once he realized that there were.

Upon arrival, he realized that his colleague had a right to be a bit annoyed. His hand seemed to be bleeding quite badly, crimson gushing from an ugly, jagged wound. He wondered what had happened in the span of 40 minutes since the former was called to the situation to cause such a wound. The male sounded fine on the walkie-talkie.

And why wasn't he informed?

Once he laid eyes on the wolves, however, all thoughts of the wound flew out the window. They looked dirty and weak as they sat on the grassy hill behind the superstore, ribs showing and sallow skin pale as a ghost. There was still a fire burning in their eyes strong enough to let Hoseok know they could hurt him badly too if he didn't plan this out right. He grabbed the leads, slowly stepping out of the sedan and letting the door gently shut. One adult wolf swiveled his head around to stare at Hoseok as soon as the door shut. The wolf appeared to be smaller than the other adults, small shoulders hunched in on himself as he locked eyes with Hoseok. He knew they all must've been on the brink of starvation, mainly because they would've shifted by now and run off. They seemed too weak to even do that. Hoseok took his steps slow and deliberate, hands outward and palms exposed to show he wouldn't harm them. But that seemed to not deter the biggest wolf from getting defensive, crawling in front of the smaller wolf to protect them from harm.

Hoseok gave them a wide berth, making his way over to his colleague standing somewhat near them.

"Jackson, why didn't you tell me you needed aid? I could've brought some gauze and disinfectant wipes for you." Hoseok placed a gentle hand on the man's shoulder, feeling how tense he was due to the pain.

"I think it's better if I just went to the hospital." Jackson motioned with his good hand to a woman Hoseok hadn't noticed before. "This is IU, she'll be driving me to the hospital."

Hoseok waved and gave her a small smile, and she returned the wave with a smile of her own. His smile then dropped as he turned to Jackson, eyes wide as fear crept up his spine as the realization of what the male said had dawned on him.

"Then who's gonna help me get these wolves into the sedan!? Surely I couldn't do this by myself!"

"Don't worry, I called for reinforcements. A couple of rookies will be here to help you. They were taught the basics of hybrid wrangling so they should be okay."

Hoseok facepalmed, then running that same hand through his own hair.

"Okay.... okay." He took a deep breath, gaze lifting from the pavement beneath their feet to lock onto Jackson. "I hope you get this fixed up and feel better. It's starting to look nastier by the secon— HEY!" Jackson laughed at Hoseok, trying to put his bloodied hand in the other's face. "STOP! Stooooppp..! You're gonna get your blood all over me!" He jumped back as Jackson tried to get his hand in his face again, a whine leaving him.

Just then, the "reinforcements" pulled into the parking lot, Jackson taking his leave with a wave as he clambered into IU's car. He turned to look at the hybrids, who looked back at him like he had just sprouted another head.

"What? Why are you guys looking at me like that?" He knew they were feral, so they would most likely not respond. But he was a talkative person so he would chat to ferals anyways. As he expected, they just kept staring, and he huffed in frustration, crossing his arms over his chest self-consciously. One of the rookies decided that was the best time to come over and start discussing the capture plan.

"Hi Hoseok-ssi! I would like to just discuss the new capture plan with you. So we're going to try to use food to lure at least one of them away. If none of them respond to the food, then we'll try surrounding them and lassoing the lead around their necks, and for some reason if THAT doesn't work.. well then we'll unfortunately have to use the tranquilizer gun. I know you hate that method, as do I, so we'll try our hardest with the first two plans. Sound good?"

Hoseok nodded, eyes still focused on the wolves. His eyes only left the wolves when he heard the rookies whistle. The male watched as the rookies threw the meat in various different directions, then tossing a few small chunks towards the wolves. The adults quickly picked up and ate the scraps, leaving some for the toddlers to eat and sniffing the air for more. The biggest male began to stalk towards a juicy chicken thigh he had spotted, never standing up and instead crawling on his hands and feet.

Hoseok and the main rookie used that distraction to their advantage, quickly lassoing leads around the other two's necks, hearing the clattering of the cages as the second rookie wheeled them into the parking lot from the sedan. Hoseok had lassoed the smaller wolf, who stared at him with an all too knowing look. He averted his gaze from the wolf, quickly placing him into the cage. The main rookie looked to be having a lot of trouble with the other wolf. This wolf seemed tall, with broad shoulders and a fierce smoulder. He seemed to be alert, ears and head turned towards the pups who had just noticed the two wolves were gone. They slowly crawled their way over to the tall wolf, and the wolf seemed to be resigned to going into the cage once he knew the pups were safe. The pups followed the wolf into the cage once he was placed in there. Meanwhile, the second rookie kept throwing more and more food in the biggest wolf's direction.

However, as soon as the wolf heard the cage close, he snapped his head over to the commotion and sprinted towards the cages, chicken left forgotten. Quick to draw, Hoseok dug into his deep pockets and grabbed the tranquilizer gun, shutting his left eye as he aimed. Just as the wolf grabbed onto the cage, he fired. The sturdy wolf staggered to the side, worried gaze locked onto the other tall wolf, who stared back at him sadly. He then collapsed, and they quickly carted in his cage and got him into it.

It took a combined effort of all three workers to get the three into the back of the van, making sure their cages were strapped down so they had no chances of sliding around. Hoseok thanked the rookies and let them go on their way, driving back to the hybrid shelter with the sick wolves in tow. Occasionally, he heard them whining, a pang of guilt making itself known in his gut at the thought of how confused they must be.

Once they got to the shelter, the staff helped unload the three wolves, quickly ushering the two conscious ones to the washing station. The dominant one was placed in one of the doggy kennels for the time being, laid out on a plush large dogbed with an IV so they could get some fluids into him. It was a spacious room, one fit for a hybrid his size. Hoseok was worried though, nervously chewing on his bottom lip as he thought about the ordeal that was bound to occur once the biggest wolf woke up. He hoped that it wouldn't be too severe, otherwise they'd end up having to hose him down out back like some death row criminal. He watched the sleeping giant for a bit longer before sighing and making his way back to the cleaning station.

He was really beginning to have an attachment of some sort with the smaller wolf, with the way it stared at him with eyes that were just a bit too wise. The wolf was currently doing so now while getting rinsed off, seeming to search for comfort while his hands gripped onto the side of the plastic wash station, knuckles turning white from the sheer force. Sympathy washed over Hoseok as he slowly approached the wolf, holding out a cautious hand for the wolf to sniff so he could get his scent properly. The smaller wolf seemed hesitant at first, but just when Hoseok was about to withdraw his hand, the wolf slowly leaned his head forward and sniffed at the male's hand.

Relief flooded Hoseok's body as a big grin crept onto his mouth, only to be replaced by an 'o' shape as he watched the small wolf nuzzle his hand, frozen in disbelief for a good 10 seconds.

The hungry, people-shy wolf just nuzzled his hand!

Unbelievable!

And even after the wolf had to be pulled away, Hoseok continued to watch in awe as the wolf's features became cleaner and more defined, eventually exposing a soft face, long neck, gorgeous cat-like eyes, and a light but angled jawline. The once muddy wolf ears atop his head were now a smoky grey, matching with the wolf's tail, which moved side to side slowly. His hair was onyx, with half of it looking permed into small fluffy waves while the other side had volumized wild curls.

Then, the wolf hybrid... he smiled. A soft, gentle little thing that graced his lips for a second as he tilted his head to the side a bit and stared back at Hoseok.

He still hadn't picked his jaw up off the ground when he was suddenly called over to the taller wolf's station. Making his way over, he was blown back again by how beautiful this wolf looked as well, his facial features coming straight from a dream. He looked graceful, elegant, and radiated with a glow that seemed to eminate off of him in waves. The wolf looked at him with disinterest, cream colored ears atop the cropped blonde hair turned to face the staff that was washing him. The staff member noticed Hoseok, and gestured for him to look at the regal wolf's stomach. Confusion twisted Hoseok's face as he heard the urgency in the staff's voice, and looked at his stomach, which was swollen, poking out a fair amount.

"What the hell? Does he have worms?" Hoseok looked at the staff, watching them shake their heads before uttering,

"I'm pretty sure he's pregnant. I can't be 100% though because he refuses to let me touch his stomach." Said wolf was staring at the staff with an intense smoulder, seemingly ready for the man to try it again. The staff knew better, though, and withdrew his hand, then turning to Hoseok. "I think he should be first to go to the clinic room."

"I agree," Hoseok said with a nod, slowly reaching his hand out at a safe distance for the wolf to sniff. The wolf seemed uninterested, staring at his hand with lowered lids before looking up at him with an 'Are you kidding me?' kind of look. Hoseok brought his hand to his chest in mock offense, making an overly dramatic sad face. The wolf kept staring with the same look, before deciding to lay down on his side in the wash station.

"Ah ah ah! You still gotta get checked out, beautiful. You can't rest here!" Hoseok said this with a smile, the wolf blinking at him emotionlessly. He clearly had no comprehension of the words leaving Hoseok's mouth, so Hoseok tried to show him what he meant. He tested the waters a bit, trying to see how friendly the wolf was. As soon as he got close, the wolf's eyes widened and he tucked his tail between his legs. Hoseok backed off, guessing that the small wolf's demeanor was just a lucky coincidence and that this one wasn't as trusting.

"Ok. Guess it's time for phase two." He walked off, coming back shortly after with a nice cut of meat. The wolf seemed to come alive, eyes and mouth opening wide as he sprung up off the table. He landed gracefully in front of the wash station, tail nervously wagging as he looked at the food, then at Hoseok.

"Come with me~..!" Hoseok sing-songed, dangling the piece of meat out behind him as he walked to the kennel next to the big wolf's kennel. Unlocking the metal barred door, he threw the piece of meat in. The wolf rushed in, and he quickly closed and locked the door, watching through the bars as the starved wolf devoured it. Hoseok beamed as he saw the wolf discover the big bowl of prime cut meats in the corner, then walking off with the satisfaction of knowing one wolf was settled.

Hoseok entered the cleaning station once again and saw the smaller wolf being dried off and knew he was almost done as well. Once he was finished, the smaller wolf obediently followed Hoseok to his kennel, where he got in without fuss. The male made sure to place the wolf in a kennel across from the other two wolves, so he could see them and not feel so alone. Once the wolf settled down in his dogbed, he shyly looked at Hoseok over his shoulder, then looking down at his bed. The male's eyebrows shot up into the sky, and after a moment's hesitation he walked into the kennel and locked the door. As soon as he settled down on the carpeted floor, the smaller wolf climbed onto his lap, curling up against his chest and nuzzling his neck.

"Hey there," Hoseok said softly, running his fingers through the wolf's freshly-washed hair. "You're one of the sweetest ferals I've ever met. Not saying that I've met many! I've only really handled one other group of ferals before, and they were all really crazy. Not a bad crazy... just a... difficult crazy." He rambled on as his fingers coursed through the silky curls and waves, rubbing around the scalp before stopping on an itchy spot at the nape of the wolf's neck and scratching it for him. The wolf, even though it couldn't understand him, seemed to listen to him intently, those searching eyes finding his every-so-often and locking on for awhile. After he stopped rambling, Hoseok just stared at the wolf for a minute, a small smile slowly forming as the wolf stared back.

"You're so cute.. and a great listener, at that. I kinda want to name you Suga, cause you're so sweet to me." He leaned in, gently squeezing Suga's cheeks. He shook a finger at the small wolf, quietly adding, "But that nickname is reserved for me only."

"Your main name will beeeee......." he trailed off in thought, stroking his chin in a dramatic fashion as he looked off to the side.

"Yoon...Yooni.......Yoongi! Yep, Yoongi is a good name for you." With a nod of finality, Hoseok looked down at Suga to see his reaction to the new name. Suga just seemed to nuzzle his head close into the male's chest, getting comfy so that he could sleep. Hoseok went back to running his hands through the wolf's hair, humming contentedly. He pondered for a second, deep in thought about the other two wolves.

"The maybe-pregnant wolf will be named Seokjin, or Jin for short. The angry one.. he can be named... Namjoon. Joon will be his nickname." Suga's tail wagged harder, thumping against Hoseok's legs.

"I'm glad you like the names."

Once Suga fell asleep, Hoseok carried him to his dogbed and laid him down. Placing his hands on his hips, he just watched the wolf sleep for a short while, a smile painted on his lips as he saw how peaceful Suga finally looked.

Just as he turned to leave, he heard his name being called.

"Hoseok," a gentle, feminine voice called out. The male turned to look, only to spot IU from earlier in the clinic doorway. "Are you able to bring the pregnant wolf in?"

"Sure thing, IU-ssi!" He left Suga's kennel, slowly closing and locking the door so that it didn't loudly clang against the surrounding bars. Walking over to Jin's kennel, he looked through the bars and saw Jin laying out on his dogbed, staring right back at him. Hoseok jumped a little, placing a hand over his heart before flashing a nervous smile Jin's way.

"You scared me. I thought you would be asleep by now. Hasn't the day been tiring enough for you?" As he talked, he unlocked the door to Jin's kennel, pulling the door open and throwing a lead around Jin's neck. The wolf seemed to tense up at this, posture stiff as he continued to lay out on his bed.

"I know, I know.. A lot of feral hybrids hate the lead. Please cooperate with me though, it'll make everything quicker and easier." He sent a silent prayer up to whoever was there watching over, then tightening the lead with a pull.

It was an electronic lead, one that had a built in pressure point feature which made the job easier. It would have a couple stubs push outward from inside the lead and when angled right, would press up against the scent gland. It would cause the hybrids that have been caught to submit and follow along, although on some occasions it makes them go totally limp and makes the job twice as hard.

This time, he got lucky and it made Jin follow along, although the wolf whined the whole time. Hoseok felt guilty, even though this was part of the job, and pat Jin's head a couple times before leading him into the clinic. Once he escorted him onto the surgery table, Hoseok helped strap Jin down. It was a precaution incase Jin began to flip out, which could hurt the staff or himself. The process was finished, and he watched quietly as IU began her own process, first washing her hands and then wheeling over the ultrasound machine. She slid a chair over and took a seat, grabbing the transducer off the side of the machine along with some of the ultrasound gel. Jin seemed to squirm once the effects of the lead wore off, his whines getting loud enough to echo around the room. He was looking up at Hoseok—who was positioned directly behind his head—with a very sad expression, eyebrows pinched, eyes slightly squinted and a downturned mouth.

The male felt extremely guilty, tenatively lifting a hand to pet the blonde locks atop the hybrid's head. He stroked through his hair even as Jin jumped, clearly startled by how cold the gel was on his bare skin. The wolf's focus had shifted to his stomach, hyperfocused on every move IU took around it. As Hoseok tried to soothe him, IU ran the transducer along his stomach, staring into the blotchy ultrasound monitor to try and deduce where the babies would be. She pressed down a bit harder towards the bottom of the stomach, continuing to run the transducer along it until three pups appeared on the screen, separated in their own little sac and in different positions.

"Awww.." Hoseok cooed, still running his fingers through Jin's hair as he watched them kick and squirm on the monitor. IU smiled as well, "They look healthy. I can't tell the genders because they're moving too much, but it's fine. We'll get a nice surprise when they're born. They're about 10 weeks along, and since most hybrids have faster pregnancies, they should be due in about 5 weeks." Jin let out another, louder whine after a minute of them just watching the babies and chatting about them and about Jin, clearly not understanding what was going on or why the pressure was still on his stomach.

"Shh shh, it's ok Jinnie. You're did amazing!" IU was wiping off the gel on Jin's stomach, done with the ultrasound by this point.

Suddenly, a loud crashing noise could be heard down the hall. Hoseok jumped up, running out of the room and down the hall to find out what the noise was. Turning to look in the cleaning station he found Namjoon there, fastened to one of the wash stations by a collar and a leash. He was on his hands and knees growling loudly, snarling everytime one of the staff came close. Hoseok could see that he was mostly clean, but still had some grime on his stomach and thighs. The noise must've been from the staff member who was trying to get back up, clearly having been knocked into a bunch of cleaning supplies. Hoseok winced once he spotted the giant lump on the side of the staff's head, vowing to himself that he would help them once he got Jin back into his cage. The male swiftly made his way back to the clinic, hearding Jin's cries get louder as he got closer.

Once he was inside the room, he wasted no time, grabbing the lead off the floor and fastening it around Jin's neck. He tightened the lead, wincing in sympathy as Jin's cries were abruptly cut off due to the sensation of the lead pressing against his scent gland. IU took off the binds, Hoseok stood Jin up, and they made their way back towards Jin's cage without anymore fuss. As soon as Jin was secured in his cage, he speed walked towards the cleaning station, grabbing some cleaning supplies as he entered the room and made his way over to Namjoon. The wolf looked absolutely livid as he glared at everyone in the room, jet black ears pinned back on his head as he snarled low in his throat.

He recognized the rookie that went over the plan with him back in the parking lot, and walked over to him.

"What happened? How did you guys even get him in here?" Hoseok watched Namjoon as he asked, scratching his head as he tried to think about it.

"Well, he was unconscious when we brought him in here," the rookie stated, keeping his voice low so that it didn't provoke the wolf. "He was doing fine until he woke up. And it was right when we were almost done, too. Sent Iseul flying into the cleaning supplies. Poor guy was just tryna clean him. Gave him a concussion instead of a thanks."

"Oh shit, that's horrible. I hope he's okay." They watched as one of the rookies came in with food, hoping to distract Namjoon. "What's your name by the way?"

"Oh me? It's—" SNAP! Namjoon lunged at the rookie with food, broken leash flapping uselessly alongside his neck as he tackled the poor man.

"SHIT!" Hoseok quickly lassoed the lead around his neck and tried to tighten it, but couldn't get the nubs to press against Namjoon's mating gland since he had a thick collar around his neck already. Thinking fast, he quickly ran over and slipped three fingers under the collar, then grabbing the collar and twisting it until Namjoon couldn't breathe. The wolf let go of the rookie, bloody hands thrashing around uselessly as he quickly lost oxygen to his brain. Hoseok dragged Namjoon out of the cleaning station and practically threw him into his kennel, thanking the heavens that Namjoon didn't weigh nearly as much as he should. He locked the door while the wolf was slumped over in the corner gasping for breath, extremely upset that he had to use that method to get him off. He hated having to do that.

Once he was locked up, Hoseok leaned against a nearby wall and slowly slid to the floor, heart still hammering away in his chest.

"Fucking hell..."

He stared at Namjoon, who slowly regained his senses and sluggishly made his way over to the side of the kennel. Jin also made his way over to Namjoon, the chainlink being the only thing separating them. Jin whined and nuzzled the chainlink, while Namjoon licked at it, trying to lick Jin.

Realization dawned on Hoseok, and he wanted to smack himself when he did realize. He was so stupid. Jin was Namjoon's omega. That's probably why he reacted so violently when he woke up. His omega wasn't there and he most likely heard the whining coming from the clinic room down the hall. Could probably smell the scent of his scared omega as well. It all makes sense now.

For now, he was going to place Jin in Namjoon's kennel, but when they sleep, he'll take down the chainlink between the two kennels and create one big kennel. He thinks that'll be best for the family.

Besides, the look on the two wolves faces when he finally placed Jin in Namjoon's kennel was something Hoseok wouldn't trade for anything.

Now he's gonna go check to make sure the rookie is still alive.

Chapter 2: The Case of the Abandoned Pets

Chapter Text

The next 3 weeks were pretty uneventful, with the wolves from the Parking Lot Case settling in pretty well.

And yes, he had dubbed the their case the Parking Lot Case.

Once he had taken the chainlink between Namjoon and Jin's cages down, they seemed to relax a lot more. However, Jin still seemed on edge, Namjoon cleaning every inch of his body and scenting him to try to calm him down. It would only work for a short while before he was pacing in the kennel again. When they brought his two pups back three days later, all clean and well fed, Jin seemed so excited. His family was finally complete.

Around week 2 they were starting to have more warm weather, as it was mid-spring and the temperatures were starting to heat up. Hoseok and the staff began letting the hybrids out into the yard to play. It was a large grassy area with a small hill, a tall fence surrounding the perimeter. They had also begun shifting when they were out playing, only for short periods of time, but it was still amazing to watch the wolves in wolf form running and playing and howling together. They would let the wolves out together, then let the other hybrids out after. They had a handful of other hybrids at the shelter, but they were mainly domesticated animals such as dogs and cats, and they were in the other sections of the shelter.

On week 3, he was eating cereal at work, bags heavy under his eyes, when he heard something on the walkie talkie. Getting up with the cereal still in hand, he dragged his feet over to his coat on the coatrack, digging in the pocket with his free hand and pulling out the walkie talkie.

He pressed on the button, holding the walkie talkie up to his face, "Come again? I couldn't hear."

"House on the hills, the fancy estate house. Remember? The one that illegally had hybrid breeding about a year or so ago?" It was good to hear Jackson's voice again. He had been pretty worried about the guy for the last few weeks.

"Oh yeah.. What about it?"

Jackson sighed loudly into the walkie talkie. Great to know he could still have an attitude with a messed up hand.

"There's two abandoned hybrids there. Descriptions came in about a Poodle and a Husky sitting on the porch of the mansion for nearly a week, day and night, whining and crying."

"On my way." Releasing his thumb from the walkie talkie, he stuffed it back into his coat pocket and quickly shoveled the rest of the cereal down. Once he was done, he placed the bowl on the countertop and left the breakroom, grabbing his jacket and leads.

♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤

When he pulled up to the mini-mansion, he noticed it looked how nice it was this close up. It was your typical modern-looking mansion, consisting of wood panels, stone slabs, and floor-to-ceiling windows. It looked like abstract art, with the many square and rectangular shaped walls protruding from the home. He parked in the driveway and stepped out, grabbing the leads in one hand and the walkie talkie in the other.

"I'm here." Click. The only audible sound was the nature around Hoseok and the click as he released the button on the side.

"Come around to the back."

"Alright."

He made his way around the front of the house, noticing the empty bowl of dog food and empty bowl of water. His eyes scanned the area once he walked to the back, landing on Jackson.

"Where are they?"

Jackson pointed to a nice red doghouse the size of a large shed.

"Ok."

Grabbing his flashlight off his toolbelt, he made his way into the dark, cluttered shed, the only light illuminating it pouring in from the open door. He turned on his own flashlight. "Hello? It's just your friendly neighborhood shelter people. We just want to help you. I know you're out of food and water, probably hungry and thirsty as hell. We can help you. We can get you food, water, and a nice shelter."

He heard some shuffling and murmuring, although one of them wasn't nearly as quiet as the other.

"Taetae wants food. Taetae is hungry!" He then heard a thump and a whine.

"No! They'll kill us, you ditzy fool!"

"I can hear you both, and I can assure you that I won't kill either of you. We don't kill animals at our shelter, we help them get better so they can hopefully find a home." He talked into the darkness, shining his flashlight here and there, all to no avail. There was a lot of clutter in the shed, making it difficult to see much of anything.

"No..DON'T!" He heard as stuff was shuffled around, a head peaking up from the right corner of the shed. He was a very beautiful hybrid, clearly the husky. He looked kind of like a model, even with his messy black curls spilling into his face. His bright blue eyes were staring directly into the flashlight.

"Ah," Hoseok angled the flashlight away, "You probably shouldn't stare into the flashlight like that. Could hurt your eyes, gorgeous pup!"

A small silence stretched on, until,

"You think TaeTae is gorgeous?" He brought the light back down, realising the surprisingly deep voice is coming from the beautiful husky.

"Yes, of course! Anyone with eyes could see that. I have some treats for both of you if you can come out." He watched as TaeTae climbed over all of the stuff until he was face to face with Hoseok, smiling widely as he looked at the male. TaeTae was even more beautiful this close up, and he took note of the spiked collar around the husky's neck, as well as the black sleeveless t-shirt and black basketball shorts.

"Can I have a treat now? TaeTae was good." His tail wagged happily, smile never faltering as Hoseok dug in his jacket pocket to pull out some smoked sausages, giving a few to TaeTae. TaeTae gasped, drooling a little as he smelled the food, then quickly eating it. He pouted once he had none left, looking up at Hoseok with puppy eyes.

"Can TaeTae have more?"

Just as Hoseok opened his mouth to respond, the other dog came over, rummaging through the piles to get to them. Hoseok must be on a roll with attractive hybrids, because the Poodle was also very attractive. He had blonde fluffy ears that blended into the blonde fluffy curls on his head, blue bows decorating each ear. He also had a blue ribbon around his neck as well as a sleeveless baby blue bodysuit to go with it. His tail was styled in the signature poodle style as well, with it shaved towards the base and fluffed into a spherical shape at the middle and tip. He had a blue ribbon on the shaved base as well, completing the baby blue set. Hoseok thought he looked absolutely adorable in the outfit, although the scowl on the poodle's face told another story.

"Jiminie look, the shelter man has sausages!" The husky's tail wagged furiously, only slowing when the husky noticed Jiminie's face wasn't changing.

"I told you to call me Jimin when we're around other people. It's embarrassing. Secondly, I don't trust these people. How do I know you aren't lying?" The poodle crossed his arms, staring into Hoseok's soul with malice.

"We won't hurt you. I promise. But we do have to get out of this spot. Can't just sit here loitering in someone's yard. So can you please just come with us and we can check you out, make sure you're okay, and if your owners come back to claim you, they can take you home." He lied a little on the last part. Since the hybrids had been found being neglected, the owners would have to go to court and try to plead their cases to the judge before they even had a chance of adopting them back. If he let them know that, though, the poodle would never come.

"Sooo please come with us?" Hoseok did puppy eyes of his own, the poodle rolling his own at the pathetic attempt at bribery and walking off with them. The husky followed along with no fuss, which he was relieved about. At least one of them would be cooperative.

Once the dogs got back to the pound, he realized they had a busy week and that all other sections were pretty much full besides the wolf section. Groaning, Hoseok slapped a hand over his forehead, slowly dragging it down.

'Please whoever is up above, let there not be a giant fight,' he thought to himself.

He inwardly kept praying as he brought them in, fastening a lead around each of their necks just to be safe. He led them straight to the cleaning station, where they were stripped out of their clothes and bathed in a de-ticking bath, shampooed, scrubbed clean, and trimmed.  By the time they were done, their clothes had been washed and dried, and were able to be put back on. Jimin looked grateful for that at the very least, Hoseok guessing he didn't want to be butt naked in the shelter, which was understandable.

Once they were fresh and redressed, they were guided past the wolf kennels into their own, Hoseok assuming that they'd most likely fare better together than on their own, even if Jimin acted like he was annoyed by TaeTae.

He sat in the kennel with them for awhile, trying to get to know them by asking a few questions. He, of course, brought their empty files so he could add them to the shelter database, filling in what he knew so far.

"Sooo, your name is Jimin?" He pointed the end of the pen at Jimin, who nodded slowly. "And his name is TaeTae?"

"His name is TaeHYUNG. TaeTae is his nickname. I don't know why he always speaks in 3rd person, but my guess is because he isn't that smart." Taehyung seemed to wilt at Jimin's words, a pout forming on his face.

"...TaeTae is smart.." he mumbled, fiddling with his shirt, shorts and collar. Hoseok shot him a sympathetic smile, trying to reassure him by saying, "I bet you are, Taehyung."

"No, he's really not. No offense TaeTae, but you haven't even been fully housebroken yet. He pees when he gets too scared. And he trashes the house when he gets the zoomies. It's probably why our owners left us."

"HEY! It's not my fault they left, Jiminie! TaeTae saw you eating their homecooked dinner the night before they left. TaeTae thinks that's why they left. Cause of YOU!" Taehyung was practically screaming, and after glancing around, Hoseok realized that he's waking up the wolves. Yoongi seemed to already be awake, staring curiously through the chainlink at the pair. Hoseok had placed them on Yoongi's side, in the kennel right next to Yoongi, so they had a chance of being acquainted with at least one wolf.

"Ok ok, guys. Let's not fight. How old are you?" Hoseok lifted his pen again, ready to write down the information.

"TaeTae is 3 in human years! 21 in dog years!"

"I'm 3 in human years, and 21 in dog years as well, but I'm a little bit older than him."

"Awesome, thanks for the information. Playtime is about to start soon if you guys want to join in." Hoseok grins, and he watches as Taehyung's eyes go wide and starry.

"IWANTTOPLAY!" Hoseok shushes him before he wakes up every pet in the shelter, facepalming when he turns around and sees all the wolves and pups awake. Namjoon is alerting on them so hard that he'll surely snap in half if he gets any tenser.

"Okay, you can play. Let's go. Jimin, would you like to come?"

"As long as I don't get too dirty."

"But you're a dog, dogs get dirty when they play." He holds up his hands when Jimin just glares at him.

"Fine," huffs Jimin, and he gets up.

♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤

Watching hybrids in their animal forms never ceases to amaze Hoseok. He could honestly watch them all day, no videos, no documentation. Just watching. Right now, he is happy to do so as well, kicked back in a lawnchair by the door while wolves fly past him.

He realized a couple things when taking the hybrids out.

One, that he will NEVER take out Jimin and Tae at the same time as the wolves, seeing as Namjoon nearly ripped Jimin's fluffy tail straight off while walking by them in wolf form. Hoseok is so glad he had a firm hold around Namjoon's collar.

Two, that TaeTae has many bursts of energy, and causes trouble when he does. No explanation needed on that, he just had to go inside and look at all the items knocked over near the side door.

And three, that Jimin likes Suga, which is something he had no clue about until just now.

He watches with rapt attention as Jimin lowers himself to the ground while in his poodle form, tail wagging nervously as he locks eyes with Yoongi. The smoky grey wolf had been eyeing the poodle ever since they came out, and Hoseok found it fascinating how they were conversing while in their animal forms.

It seems that Namjoon also noticed, and trotted over to Yoongi to nip at his flank. Yoongi turned around, ears pinning back, tail tucked between his legs. He was caught doing something he shouldn't have been doing, so he tried to suck up to the leader with licks underneath his chin, then padded over to lay with Jin and the pups.

Namjoon was just staring at Jimin, tail pointed upwards and piercing golden eyes watching him. Jimin was clearly challenging him, mimicking his stance and staring back unflinchingly. Just as Namjoon started to make his way towards Jimin, Hoseok decided to break it up.

Yes, he knows he should've done it earlier. But man, these hybrids were so much different from any other hybrids he encountered, so sue him for being awestruck.

As soon as he made his way over with the leads, the two hybrids split apart, Namjoon running over to one end of the paddock with the other wolves as Jimin ran to the other end.

"Thank you guys for making my job easy. I really appreciate it."

Hoseok looked straight ahead, his eyes locking on Taehyung, who actually was making his job easy. He was just rolling around in the grass, not paying any attention to anything around him.

"TaeTae, can you be a good boy and come inside with me?" Taehyung jumped up and ran over to him, tail wagging wildly. He sat down in front of Hoseok, behaving extremely well even as the male slipped the lead on him. He could tell Taehyung was a little nervous about the electronic lead, so he patted his head gently to erase those fears.

He was able to get Jimin in once Taehyung was inside, but was having difficulties with Namjoon who thought it was right about time to start snarling in the corner while he stood in front of the other wolves, trying to protect them.

"Namjoon, I thought we already went through this. Can you at least try to make things easy?"

Namjoon just snarled again, lunging at Hoseok and making him stumble back. Hoseok cursed under his breath as he almost fell on his ass, his hand placed over his racing heart. Once his heart rate went back to normal, he called for reinforcements, informing them of the situation.

They ended up having to tranq Namjoon again, which Hoseok was extremely bummed out about as he filled out paperwork for a couple of new hybrids in Section B. His thoughts trailed off once again, fixating on Namjoon. He ran the bottom of his pen along his bottom lip as he pondered on the stubborn hybrid, wondering what he could do to help someone who didn't want to be helped. His pack clearly wanted help, and were receptive to the treaments they were going through, but the leader fought tooth and nail at every turn. It was beginning to concern Hoseok, because he couldn't have checkups without being put on a sedative and they couldn't keep sedating the wolf without the risk of cognitive defects.

A defeated sigh left his mouth after thinking for a few more seconds, going back to his paperwork.

Then suddenly, an idea struck.

They were all idiots, weren't they? They could just have him in the same room as his mate, doing the same things at the same times as his mate. Dual checkups, dual medicine taking, and dual baths. Hoseok had already solved this problem before with the kennels, and wondered why it took him so long to spread that idea out to every activity.

He smiled a little in disbelief at himself as he got back to the paperwork, humming a soft tune.

The next day, he put his idea into motion, and while Namjoon wasn't calm, he was much calmer than before. Instead of lunging, he just growled as he was placed next to his partner for the washes, getting reassuring nuzzles from Jin, who was used to the process by now. Since he hadn't had a bath in awhile, Hoseok forgot how handsome the male could be when he was groomed properly. The results were like a breath of fresh air, a feeling of victory washing over him while he watched throughout the day, seeing the impossible hybrid become calmer and more willing to comply.

He was so happy with the results that he had bought a big ol' rawhide for Namjoon to enjoy while in wolf form, carefully placing it in his kennel while he slept. Namjoon still had to work on being nice in the kennel, but Hoseok knew that was probably never going to change and Hoseok was ok with it. They had installed a new kennel door with a slot for the food and water bowls since the wolf kept nipping fingers, and that would have to be the way things were.

Another thing that had been on his mind was the odd relationship between Yoongi and Jimin, so that night he decided to sneak both hybrids outside to play in the paddock. Jimin had protested at first, but shut up the moment he realized who he was going out to play with.

One thing Hoseok never thought he would see is Jimin blushing, but today all sorts of surprises were happening today so he wasn't shell-shocked for too long.

Once he let Jimin out, they both immediately shifted and began playing, running around the paddock and bouncing around. Their tails were both wagging as they dipped down into play bows, sprinting off again after a moment. It was honestly amazing to watch, and Hoseok was glad that he snuck them out. After awhile of playing, they got tired and migrated back towards the door. Hoseok let them inside, where they played a bit more. When he went to put Yoongi in his kennel, Jimin quickly followed behind, and Hoseok didn't see the harm in letting them hang out for a bit longer while he cleaned the place and locked everything up for the night.

He closed the kennel door and wandered off to grab the broom.

About 30 minutes later, he heard a cry coming from the kennels, so he quickly grabbed a lead and speedwalked towards through the halls, wondering how he's going to explain to his boss that he thought they got along well so he let them in the same cage. When he turned the corner, he saw Jimin face down on the floor of the kennel and Suga on top of him, biting his neck, both in their hybrid forms. Just as he went to step in, he realized that Jimin didn't have his outfit on.

And more importantly, that he was moaning.

And even more importantly, that Yoongi was thrusting into Jimin.

Hoseok dropped the lead with a yelp as he covered his eyes, the thump of the lead hitting the ground surely getting their attention. He's seen hybrids hump before a few times at the shelter, but it was in animal form and rarely were they ever able to be together inside in order to hump, so it was usually outside.

As he tried to gather the courage to look, he bent down to pick up the lead, his face beet red. He had find a way to get them to stop, because the security cameras were recording everything that's happening inside and he's positive he'd get yelled at if he let them continue.

'I need to convince my boss to get a solid roof on the kennels so that the security cameras can't record the hardcore porn going on in the kennels through the chainlink.' He thought this while walking past the scene to get to the front room, grabbing a spray bottle full of water and a lead, then walking back to the scene. As he opened the door, he tried to look anywhere but at the pair. He expected this to be difficult.

But what he didn't expect was for sweet little Yoongi to growl at him.

He had to focus on the scene now, eyes wide in disbelief as he stared at Yoongi, who stared back at him with a half-lidded gaze. He looked bored and uninterested, so Hoseok assumed he was hearing things until he growled again when the male tried to step in.

"Suga, really!? How could you betray me like this!" A deep frown marred his brow as he pouted, upset that Yoongi would turn on him just for sex. He thought they were closer than that. That they were good friends.

"Well then Mister, now I won't have a hard time spraying you with this spray bottle." He was completely lying, because he hated spraying hybrids. He hated anything to do with forceful punishment or capture, but he had to do it. So he lied, then held the spray bottle up and sprayed the icy water on Yoongi.

Yoongi flinched, jumping back but not moving his lower half away from Jimin. He whined a little, giving Hoseok puppy eyes.

"....Did you knot him?" He didn't even need an answer to know that Yoongi did, pinching his brow and taking a few deep breaths. Yoongi just stared at him, eyes wide and sad.

"Stop staring at me like that, especially when you're tied to someone. It's really weird." Hoseok averted his gaze, ignoring Yoongi's pitiful whining while he thought about what to do while he wated for them to be separated. He then realized he hadn't checked on Jimin, but once he looked down he realized Jimin was fine. He was biting his lip, quietly moaning, his eyes barely open. His mouth suddenly opened to release a keen as Yoongi shifted, the light sheen of sweat on his skin glistening from the overhead light.  He was clearly not even in the same dimension as the other two right now, and it sucked because he was the only one who could communicate out of the two hybrids.

He closed the door and walked off, Yoongi still whimpering for him. Yoongi was in emotional timeout right now, and he isn't getting sausages snuck in to him for at least a week.

15 minutes later, they were separated, and he swiftly moved a very satiated Jimin back to his own kennel. Hoseok groaned as he shut the door, eyeing the trail of cum leading from Suga's kennel to Jimin's.

"WhhyyyyyyYYYY.."

Chapter 3: The Case of the Lone Wolf

Chapter Text

He had indeed been yelled at the next day, although it was more about the danger of leaving two hybrids that barely know eachother together and less about the graphic sex. Either way, he vowed to try harder to keep them apart from then on. It was very difficult, because it seemed like they were fueled by that one time together, and began to become insufferable when apart. Suga would whine and cry out, while Jimin would become extra bratty and be nearly as difficult as Namjoon once was. He would steal the staffs wallets and purses and hide them in his kennel, he would nip when staff tried to get him inside during playtime, and worst of all, he would take his issues out on Taehyung with rough play as well as random acts of aggression.

Hoseok had had enough, and banned him from outside playtime with Yoongi, which was the only time him and Yoongi could be together. Usually Yoongi would go out with his pack, and stay out when they brought them back in and switched them with Jimin and Tae, allowing him to spend time with Jimin, but today, Jimin was left whining in his kennel while Yoongi was let outside to play with his pack and stayed out to play with Taehyung.

Yoongi looked pretty confused when he came in, and when he was put in his cage he began whining as well.

Hoseok is definitely gonna have to to talk to his boss, because this is becoming impossible.

♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤

He ended up talking to his boss, who still told him that they weren't allowed together. By yelling at him. He felt hopeless, until he had a conversation with Jackson about the issue the next morning.

"Uhh, did you try to just let them hump and be all lovey dovey outside."

"You know the boss wouldn't allow that unless they were in their animal forms." Hoseok laid his head on the table, surrounded by his arms.

"How would he know?" Jackson raised an eyebrow in question as Hoseok lifted his head to shoot him an unamused look.

"Jackson, did you forget we have cameras?"

"There's no cameras in the paddock."

Hoseok blinked. "...What?"

Jackson stopped leaning back on his chair, chuckling as the front legs of the chair thumped against the ground. "You never knew that?"

"No? There are cameras at the front door, both inside and outside. Cameras all over the building. I automatically assumed the boss had hidden a camera somewhere out back."

"He had a security camera out there, but it broke. Some hawk flew into it. He was supposed to replace it, but he forgot. Now it's just free reign. That's why some of the staff disappear randomly, cause they're out there smoking or drinking or doing whatever they can't do in here."

Hoseok raised his eyebrows, rubbing his fingers along his chin.

"Well damn, I never even thought about it. Why didn't anyone tell me sooner?"

Jackson smirked, giving him a playful eyeroll. "You don't smoke or drink, Hoseok. Nor do you do anything else 'bad'. You're kind of a goody-two-shoes, so nobody ever needed to tell you."

Hoseok looked slightly affronted, but tried to keep a hold of his emotions. "Fine, whatever. I just care about hybrids and animals, ok? Not my fault I want to stay sober so they can find good homes and be healthy..."

"Hey, I never said that's a bad thing. That's good. I like helping out too. A lot of staff here don't, though, and are just looking for a paycheck. That's how they found out about the camera so fast." Hoseok nodded in agreement. He had noticed the dull looks on a few staffs' faces.

Just then, their walkie talkies went off at the same time, beeping loudly. Jackson grabbed his, giving Hoseok what Jackson had called his 'game face'. Hoseok would've laughed any other time, but he was too busy hoping for an easy case. As Jackson left the room to talk to the boss, Hoseok grabbed his own walkie talkie and walked over to get a couple leads. He was glad the weather was much warmer that a couple months ago, forgoing the jacket and leaving to get cages loaded into the van.

While he was struggling to secure the second cage into the back of the van, his walkie talkie went off.

"We've got a case of an aggressive wolf in the downtown area roaming around in the alleyways. Most likely came from the nearby forest. Multiple reports filed throughout the past 3 months."

Click.

"Okay, sounds good. Heading out now."

"Alright, I'll tail you."

He released the button and slipped the walkie talkie on his belt, pulling the keys out of his pocket to unlock the van.

When he arrived, he did not expect that they'd have to drive around for 45 minutes looking for the wolf. Hoseok was starting to become very frustrated, turning left for the millionth time and weaving down yet another street.

"Boss said another report came in for the same wolf on 5th and Main."

"Okay."

Hoseok pulled over once he arrived at the correct street corner, parking directly in front of the only alleyway on that block.

He quickly stepped out of the van, leads in hand just as Jackson pulled up behind him, and they both made their way down the alleyway with their flashlights out. It was 6 in the morning, and although the sun was starting to rise, the alleyway was still shrouded in darkness.

"I don't see anything," Hoseok mumbled, gaze flickering over to Jackson before returning to the empty alleyway.

"Over there, in front of the trashbag!"

Hoseok quickly looked over to see the black wolf creeping towards him, snarling. He gasped and grabbed the tranq gun at his hip just as the wolf lept at him, shooting a dart at it. He had no clue if it landed, because the wolf knocked him straight over, snapping at his face as he tried to hold him off, Hoseok letting out a scream of sheer terror. After what feels like hours—but was only seconds— a dreadful realization washes over him.

He's gonna die.

The realization makes him panic, and he brings the butt of the gun down hard on the wolf's head multiple times, causing the creature to stumble back. The tranquilizer (which did land, yay!) was also kicking in by now, which made the wolf wobble on unsteady legs before collapsing in a heap.

Hoseok watched, now sat up, and then turned to Jackson with rage burning in his eyes.

"Why didn't you help me!?"

Jackson clearly had his jaw dropped the whole time. He closed it, looking from the wolf back to Hoseok.

"You looked like you were handling it."

The glower Hoseok gave him in return could melt steel.

"I'm sorry, ok! I froze! That shit was scary. I've never seen a wolf attack before. By the time I unfroze you were already beating its head in." Hoseok put his head in his hands, rubbing at his tired eyes. He didn't want to hear anymore. Even though his life was in danger, he wished he hadn't have hit the wolf so hard with the gun. He could've waited a few seconds longer and the wolf would've been asleep and uninjured.

He relayed these thoughts to Jackson, who scoffed in indignation.

"Are you KIDDING me? That wolf could've killed you! You did what you had to do!"

"I dunno.."

"Stop, seriously. Stop. That was life or death right there. I'm sorry I didn't rope him as soon as he attacked. None of this would've happened if I would've done that first." Jackson helped him up as he said this, dusting the male off, then placing his hands on his shoulders. "Are you okay?"

"I don't know. Let's get this wolf back to the shelter before they wake up."

♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤♤

When they got back to the shelter, they exchanged no words, Hoseok silently motioning to the staff to help unload the wolf. He was drained both physically and mentally, pain shooting up his back while he tried to help get the cage inside. He clenched his teeth, gripping his shoulder as the pain radiated the strongest in that area.

He definitely hit the ground harder than he expected.

While he and the staff wheeled the wolf in, he started to stir. He was surprised that the wolf was waking up this fast. It had only been an hour. Namjoon never woke up that fast when he had first tranqued him. But now that he thinks about it, it was probably because the male was so malnourished. This wolf looked to be well fed.

"It's waking up, what should we do??"

Hoseok looked over at the staff that spoke, stating in a firm voice, "We need to move him into a kennel now."

He then slipped a lead around the animal's neck in case he did wake up and attack, fastening a muzzle around the wolf's face as well. He was not risking the chance of another incident like the one in the alley. He was lucky to be alive right now.

He placed the wolf in the kennel by the wall, far away from the hybrids. It was made of glass, and had two slots for the feeding bowls to be put through. It was for the most unstable animals. He wanted to put Namjoon in there back when he was acting up, but he had a feeling that there would be a crazier animal coming.

He ended up being correct.

The wolf had stopped stirring, so Hoseok assumed he fell back into his deep slumber. Releasing a sigh of relief, he filled the wolf's food and water bowl, making sure to give him a prime cut of meat. He still felt guilty about bashing the wolf, and was still annoyed with Jackson for failing to help in time.

After 10 minutes of just staring at the wolf, lost in thought, he realized that he was awake, eyes focused on Hoseok. His heart felt like it skipped a beat, fluttering in his chest as he let out a gasp. He instinctively moved back a bit, forgetting there was glass separating the two for a second. Once he realised his mistake, he sheepishly scooted back towards the animal.

Jackson walked past, stopping for a moment to give Hoseok a file to fill out on the new wolf and a pen. He then shot Hoseok a sympathetic smile, which the older male ignored. Jackson sighed, walking away with his head down.

Hoseok rolled his eyes, then turning back to the beautiful black wolf.

He was much closer now, the only space left between them being a couple of inches of glass. Hoseok jumped, placing a hand over his racing heart to calm it down.

"Jesus..." The wolf held his gaze, amber eyes filled with an intensity that Hoseok had only seen in wild animal documentaries. After a short staring contest, Hoseok's gaze then flickered down to read over the empty slots he had to fill out. He filled out all the slots he was sure of, like the species and gender. He had never seen a female wolf this big, so he was 95% sure it was a male.

"Name... What should I name you..?" He looked back up at the wolf curiously. The creature was still staring with a predatory gaze.

"Maybe Bam. Yeah! Bam. What a cute name!"

Then, the wolf shifted. He had no clue it was a hybrid, because it's hard to tell most of the time. The only way you can identify one is if they do human-like things, or have a gaze a little too knowing for an animal.

This hybrid was very handsome, long hair flowing down past his shoulders. He had big doe-like eyes, a slightly bigger nose, and perfect cupid's bow lips, along with black wolf ears atop his head, a black tail wrapping around his inner thigh. He was also very fit, corded muscle could be seen buldging even as he sat there on the balls of his feet, holding himself up with his hands. The then hybrid pointed at himself and calmly said, "Jungkook."

"O-oh.. your name is Jungkook. Ok. I'll write it down." He wrote down his actual name, scratching out Bam.

"How old are you Jungkook?" The hybrid shrugged, looking around the glass kennel as if he'd lost something. He then tilted his head upwards and started sniffing the air, plucking off a torn piece of the carpet and eating it after he was done scenting the area.

"Uhm.. Jungkook," he said, flinching when the hybrid's head swiveled around to look at him with wide eyes and alert wolf ears. "H-How did you even learn to talk?"

"Eat dumpster food. Hear people talk outside. Hear same words. Learn from that."

"..But it's only been 3 months since you were in town."

Jungkook cocked his head to the side, then looked down at his food bowl. He picked up the chicken that had been left there, eating the prime meat in nearly one gulp. He choked while eating, and Hoseok watched him cough up the entire chunk, poking at it with curious eyes before putting it back into his mouth.

"...Jungkook? How did you learn to talk in 3 months?"

"Learn to talk? Already said how. Watched humans for long long time and learned. Heard them talk since I was pup. Stole food since I was pup."

Oh, so he had been scavenging since he was young. That makes more sense now. He must've been getting sloppy at hiding or forgot how to get back to his hideout and got caught.

"Wait, why did you try to kill me? Why are you so calm now?"

"Strangers was coming with big weapons and rope. Got scared."

Hoseok felt even worse about what had happened now. The poor wolf was cornered and defending itself. He would be scared if he was cornered by two men with weapons and leads. He was so wrapped up in the case that he forgot that a lot of these animals feel intimidated by their presence and don't know they're trying to help. "I'm sorry, Jungkook."

"It okay." He flashed a bright smile, which Hoseok couldn't help but softly coo at.

"So, Jungkook, do you know your age?"

The wolf stared at him like he was speaking Spanish.

"Cage?"

"..Nevermind." He'd have to get the vet to estimate Jungkook's age. After asking a few more questions, he left the hybrid to get used to his new environment, doing a couple of tasks that needed done around Section D. Once he was done, he decided to visit Yoongi again for the first time since the incident. He had missed cuddling with the hybrid, and he's pretty sure the hybrid had missed him as well.

When he got to his kennel, he saw Yoongi sleeping peacefully, curled up in a ball on the polka-dotted doggybed. He silently adored the small hybrid, whipping out his phone to take a photo of him, then walking into the kennel and sitting down next to the huddled figure. He ran his hand along Yoongi's back, happy to know his spine wasn't protruding like it used to. After a couple minutes of the repetitive petting along his back, ears, and stomach, the hybrid jolted awake and looked over his shoulder. Once he saw it was Hoseok, he practically knocked him over, tail thumping against the male's leg as he licked his face. A blush dusted his cheeks a light pink as he laughed in embarrassment, pulling Yoongi close to him and wrapping him in an embrace. Yoongi licking him was new, but he supposed it was just because the hybrid had missed him so much. Once his licking got a little too friendly, trailing along his jawline and neck, Hoseok put a stop to it. He hung out with Yoongi for a bit longer, talking to him about his day as the hybrid looked up at him with adoration in his eyes.

Since the sun was starting to set, he decided to take the hybrids out to play in the paddock. Namjoon had been much better lately, so he thought that it couldn't hurt to try to get them all out together once again, and introduce them all to the new wolf. Rounding up every hybrid, he put them out and watched them shift, Namjoon nipping Taehyung in the ankle when he got too close to the pups. The husky let out a loud whimper, scampering away to stand next to Jimin and Suga. Once they were all situated—Namjoon still deciding to remain in the far right corner with Jin and the pups, while Jimin, Yoongi, and Taehyung were in the left corner—Hoseok decided it was time to bring Jungkook out. He took him out of his cage, placing a lead around his neck.

The hybrid had shifted into his wolf form, calmly walking by Hoseok's side, gold eyes focused straight ahead. He was big, coming up past his hip, black fur fluffed out and making him look even bigger. Hoseok resisted the urge to run his fingers through the soft looking fur, stopping once he made it to the outside door and unlocking it.

As soon as they stepped out, all hell broke loose.

It was like everything went in slow motion. Namjoon got up, posture tense and tail stiff as he stared at Jungkook. Jungkook focused on Namjoon as well, his tail held high with confidence the wolf never exibited before. Then they both ran at eachother.

Hoseok stood no chance, getting painfully dragged off his feet and hitting the ground hard. Luckily he had let go of the leash once he hit the ground, otherwise he would've injured his wrist and hand even more than he already did. Looking up, he watched in horror as they collided, snarling and snapping at eachother. They were aiming for eachother's face and throat, and circled around in a dance of death, the two hard to tell apart since they were both black as night. Hoseok jumped up, white hot pain searing along his wrist as he quickly gripped the walkie talkie in his pocket with his good hand, setting it to the local channel instead of the one on one channel that had with Jackson.

"I need reinforcements at the Section D paddock. A wolf fight has broken out and I don't have my tranq gun." He had taken it out and set it on the break room table while cleaning, and had forgotten to pick it back up. The sun was setting, so it was getting darker and becoming harder to pinpoint the two fighting.

Then suddenly, Yoongi and Jin got up and ran over to attack as well. No matter how strong Jungkook was, he clearly couldn't fight off all three, his tail tucking between his legs as he was mauled by the other wolves. The battered wolf managed to slip away and ran over to the two dogs—who had frozen up while watching the scene unfold—barreling past them and hiding behind them. The three wolves ran towards the dogs, Taehyung tucking his tail and rolling over onto his back while Jimin growled and held his stance.

Namjoon bit Jimin on the face hard, causing the poodle to let out an ear-splitting cry, desperately trying to pull back while Namjoon sunk his teeth into his nose and lip.

Yoongi growled, and just as the reinforcements bursted outside, he attacked Namjoon, biting his stomach and side. Namjoon let go of Jimin, and Jin bit Yoongi's leg, dragging the wolf as he pulled back and tugged on the bleeding limb.

Tranq guns were raised and fired at all wolves, and the dogs were swiftly removed from the premises. Jimin was licking constantly, tongue flicking out to collect the blood oozing from his lip and nose as he slowly meandered inside, tail nearly invisible due to how tucked it was. Taehyung was uninjured but scared, following behind Jimin, his eyes never leaving the poodle.

He assessed the unconscious wolves left outside, and watched as they're all carried in by stronger staff members.

Silence.

Hoseok had made an abysmal mistake, a calculation so bad it almost killed a hybrid. He leaned back against the brick wall, rethinking every decision he had made so far.

"I thought he was friendly," he mumbled to himself, thinking back on how nice Jungkook had acted once captured. Dread crept up on him as he realized that he never actually saw Jungkook interact with another animal. He never mentioned a pack.

He was a lone wolf.

"Goddamnit, I'm fucked." He roughly gripped the dark, curly strands atop his head, pacing back and forth as his brain scrambled to come up with something reassuring. Some light to the current shitstorm he was in. He came up with nothing. Jungkook could've died.

He's going to lose his job.

A quiet sob escaped him, tears making a silent trail down his cheeks as he thought about everything. He had failed the hybrids, and he was too scared to go inside and face what he had caused.

It took 30 minutes for him to gain the courage to go inside, swiftly moving through the kennels and past the break room and wash station. He ignored the burning gazes of the staff members, continuing to push forward and entering the clinic room.

It was nightmarish.

Vets and nurses were rushing around, blood all over their light blue scrubs. They were desperately trying to help all the wolves and Jimin, who were in various states of disarray.

Suga had stitching done and a cone placed on his head, Jimin, was spluttering blood and screeching as they tried to sew up his face, still conscious, and Namjoon had deep gashes, bites, and blood scattered along his face and body and they were getting sewn up.

But Jungkook was the worst.

He had lost a lot of blood on the operating table, and they were currently giving him more while trying to tend to his wounds. They were extensive, his whole body littered in bites and tears so deep that a couple of them met bone. His face was mostly intact, but that's not saying much considering the damage done to his body.

He felt tears well up again at the sight of the aftermath. It was horrible. All because he didn't think.

Later that night, he began to pack up his things from the apartment he lived in above the shelter. He was an on-call full-time employee, and was paid a lot more than those who only worked part time. He enjoyed his job, loving every second he was able to be with the animals and hybrids. Now he'd have to find a place to live, which won't be hard financially since he was paid ₩42,000 an hour and had savings, but it would be hard to find and move into a place on such short notice. He'd probably have to call up his eomma and stay with her or find a hotel somewhere.

Sleep that night was a challenge, knowing that tomorrow he would be fired.

The last thing on his mind when he drifted off were the hybrids, and he dreamed about them running free on an endless plain, flowers of many colors blooming in the grass, and chasing eachother into a forest with lavender flowers decorating the forest floor.

Chapter 4: Section D Shenanigans

Chapter Text

Hoseok was standing outside his bosses door the next morning, shifting nervously on his feet while his knuckles wrapped against the door. He had gotten a call from the man about the disaster last night. He was surely going to get fired, and Hoseok felt a wave of emotions hit him when he realized this.

However, he didn't have long to ponder on the thought.

"Come in, it's unlocked." Hoseok twisted the doorknob, pushing the door open slowly and sticking his head in, peering around into the dark hallway.

"Uhm..."

A light flickered on at the end of the hall, illuminating the portion the dining room he could see from the doorway.

Hoseok slipped into the apartment and pushed the door closed, the door clicking shut behind him. His feet sunk into the soft carpeting as he made his way down the hall, stopping once he reached the dining room. It was a clean space, no sign of clutter anywhere, and he looked to his left to see his boss sitting at the end of the table.

"Hello, Lee Seunghyun-ssi," he began, bowing respectfully. "How are yo—"

"Sit down. No need for all these formalities." Hoseok quickly sat down, pulling his bottom lip into his mouth and flashing his dimples. "I heard about what happened. How did it happen."

"I didn't know Jungkook was a lone wolf, so I brought him out to be introduced to the other hybrids. Namjoon and Jungkook just... I don't know.. clashed! Then the other wolves started attacking Jungkook and.. ugh..." he hid his face in his hands, avoiding his bosses gaze as he continued, "Jungook ran and hid behind Jimin and Taehyung because he was bleeding everywhere. Namjoon went after him and luckily Taehyung submitted but Jimin didn't and anded up getting bit on the face! I guess after seeing that, Yoongi turned on Namjoon and bit him, and of course Jin defended his partner by biting Yoongi.. It was one big mess. I swear it was an honest mistake. I didn't think properly before taking Jungkook out... I understand if you're gonna terminate me, and if you do, I hope I can at least say goodbye to the hybrids."

"Well.." Seunghyun placed his elbows on the wooden oak table, fingers weaving through eachother as he crossed his hands. "You were very stupid. For someone who loves animals and hybrids so much, you seem to know very little about them. Regardless of if Jungkook was a lone wolf or not, he would've fought the other wolves. I thought you would know this."

Hoseok hung his head, "I'm sorry. He was just so friendly to me. I should've known that that doesn't mean he's friendly to hybrids. I've only seen hybrids that are friendly to everyone or nobody."

"The incident was really irresponsible, but I'm not going to fire you."

Hoseok slowly lifted his head, eyes wide in disbelief. "Why not?"

"Because I've made mistakes before when I was young. However, this is the second warning. Any more issues, and you'll be fired."

"Thank you so much, Seunghyun-ssi. I promise I won't let you down!"

"You're welcome, now get out of my apartment, I need to eat."

♤♤♤♤♤♤♤

It's been 2 weeks since the incident. Hoseok had begun to enforce stricter rules while at work, making sure that no animals interacted with eachother unless they knew eachother well.

They hybrids had been healing well, most of them pretty much fully recovered due to their advanced healing abilities. The only ones who were still healing were Jungkook and Namjoon, with Namjoon still having a couple deep scars on his shoulder that were stitched, while Jungkook had deep stitches all over his body and was in a cast; the other wolves had broken his arm during the attack.

Jungkook had gone back to being sweet immediately after the incident, like nothing had ever happened, which was both impressive and a bit unnerving.

Hoseok walked to the side door, opening it and walking out into the paddock. Jimin and Yoongi were out there in their animal forms, giving eachother little kisses in between sprinting around the paddock. When Yoongi spotted Hoseok, he ran up to him, flopping down in front of the male and rolling onto his back so that Hoseok would pet him. His tail thumped against the concrete while he laid back, tongue lolling out of his mouth while he panted. Hoseok crouched down, running a hand through his dark grey fur, and watching as Yoongi's eyes fell shut.

"You're such a good boy, Suga," he cooed, laying down next to the wolf and snuggling with him. Even though he was small compared to the other male wolves, he was still big to Hoseok, and when Yoongi rolled over on top of him to give him kisses on the face, he realized that the wolf was also extremely heavy. He wheezed a bit as the air was forced out of him, patting Yoongi on his side to let him know he could barely breathe. After a few more minutes of hell, the wolf got the memo, immediately getting up and licking him once more before running off to play with Jimin, who was rolling around in the grass and panting. Hoseok stood up, dusting the wolf fur off his clothing as he wondered how long they had been out there for.

He'd let them play for a bit longer and bring them in afterwards.

On his way to Jungkook's cage, Hoseok walked past the cleaning station area, hearing the water thump against the wash station. A small smile formed on his face, mind racing as he tried to guess who was being washed. He had thought Jin, but once curiosity got the best of him, he popped his head around the wall and saw Jungkook instead.

And Taehyung.

They were both being washed across from eachother in seperate wash stations, both in their hybrid form, and Hoseok's soul did a backflip out of his body.

'Didn't the staff who put them there know about the incident 2 weeks ago?' Clearly not.

But... they seemed to be fine. Taehyung was batting his eyelashes at Jungkook, looking over his shoulder at the muscular wolf and licking his lips. Jungkook still had the cast on, wrapped in plastic to protect it from the water, and his posture was alert, but not aggressive, his black tail wagging slightly as he sat there on his haunches with his head turned towards the husky. Hoseok could only see the back of Jungkook, but upon walking in, he could see that the wolf's gaze was intense, wide eyed and manic, and his eyes never left Taehyung during the entire washing process. Although Taehyung was only occasionally looking at Jungkook, his ear remained pointed towards the wolf throughout the process as well, biting his lip and staring at Jungkook through lowered lids when he did meet Jungkook's gaze.

If he didn't know any better, he'd think Taehyung was flirting, but the low hanging tail implied that he was more nervous than anything. Taehyung was usually a chatterbox while he was washed, talking about his day and every little thing on his mind.

Today, he was quiet, and the silence was deafening.

When they were both done, Taehyung was redressed in a white shirt and black shorts, and Jungkook was left naked just like the rest of the wolves because that's what they always wanted, and the plastic wrapping that covered his cast during the wash was removed. Hoseok grabbed a lead from the front and told staff he'd get Jungkook back into the cage, ignoring the skeptical gazes from the other workers. He knew he was smaller than the bulky wolf, but he could handle it.

When he wrapped the lead around the wolf, Jungkook quickly leaped out of the wash station, pulling hard against the lead as he tried to sniff Taehyung. The husky looked terrified, pointed ears now pinned back and tail tucked, but let Jungkook smell, tilting his head to the side as the wolf sniffed along the scent gland on his neck. He reached out and licked along the puffy gland with his tongue, Taehyung shuddering as the tongue laved over it. Hoseok placed his feet parallel to eachother, finding his footing and gave the leash a solid tug, managing to pull Jungkook away from the other hybrid.

"Come on, Jungkook, we'll get you another prime cut of meat."

He watched Jungkook strip the meat off the bone, then begin to chomp on the bone itself, rubbing a hand along the wolf's bare back while he ate. He had begun to sit in Jungkook's kennel when he had been injured from 'the incident', helping the wolf feed himself while he had the cast on. As he handed the wolf another piece of meat to strip, he noticed how Jungkook's hair was falling into his face while he lowered his head to eat, so Hoseok pulled the strands back into his hand, clenching it while he slid the scrunchie off his wrist with his other hand, tying most of the hair up and leaving his parted bangs hanging.

"There we go," Hoseok said, smiling as he sat back and looked at Jungkook. He immediately began cooing, finding the style fitting for Jungkook.

Jungkook gave him a confused look, doe eyes wide and brows pinched as he looked up from the position he was laying in, but Hoseok was too busy adoring the hybrid to care. "Jungkook you look so damn cuteee! I just want to squish youuu," Hoseok said this while pouting out his own lips, using his hands to squish Jungkook's cheeks. The hybrid's eyes widened even more, and his bangs fell in his face while he stared back. "I know this is all very confusing, but I hope you know how cute you are."

"Me cute?" Jungkook pointed at himself with his good hand, still looking adorably confused.

"Yes, you're cute. Adorable as hell."

"Ok. I go see pretty dog?" His pointed finger shifted over to aim at the kennels outside the glass cage, tail wagging wildly.

"Uhm, I don't think I can let that happen. He's scared of you and you have a poor track record with other hybrids."

Jungkook did the signature head tilt, and Hoseok stood up. Jungkook stood up as well, tail still swaying incredibly fast.

"He scared? I be good and dog will like me."

"I can't, Jungkook. I'll get in trouble. It's a no from me, sorry." Jungkook slumped in defeat once he heard this, head hanging low as his ears pinned back. Hoseok felt bad, he really did, but Jungkook was just so difficult to trust around other hybrids. Reluctantly, Hoseok stood up and walked over to the door. As his hand met the handle, he heard Jungkook say something surprising.

"Me not bad, just misunderstood."

Eyebrows raising, he turned to face the dejected hybrid. "When did you learn that word?"

"Me got an teacher to help with english."

"Oh, ok. Nobody told me about that. I'm glad you're learning." Hoseok inserted the key into the door, twisting it and pushing open the door. "I'll be back later to let you out for your outside time."

He closed the door, locking it back up, and made his way down the rows of kennels, stopping once he was in front of Namjoon and Jin's kennel. Through the chainlink, he could see that Namjoon was asleep, a protective arm slung around Jin and holding him close. The toddler pups were asleep on Jin's stomach, which had distended from the size of the pups growing inside, breasts also rounded with milk. He was heavily pregnant by this point, and was due this week. Jin was watching him with a curious look in his eyes, raising one of his eyebrows.

"I want to get to know you guys, but I'm scared you hate me and don't want me around. I need to start visiting you two more often." Jin blinked, sniffing the air a little and then looking back at Hoseok with a calm look. He then laid his head back down, getting comfy and closing his eyes.

Hoseok left them to sleep, night falling as he cleaned up, then went in Jimin, Yoongi, and Taehyung's kennel to brush out Jimin's poodle curls. The kennel had had the chainlink taken down like Jin and Namjoon's, and was transformed into one big kennel.

Jimin complained about everything as he held a handheld mirror, saying things like, "Don't brush up, simpleton! You'll knot it more! Brush downward." Or "you're picking it out all wrong, I need it fluffed a certain way."

A satisfied sigh left Hoseok after he was done and Jimin approved, and he retied the blue bows Jimin loved having in his hair and ears, making sure he looked good.

"Taetae wants to go next!" His tail wagged enthusiastically, and he sat in Hoseok's lap while he brushed his ears and tail, licking his face. Hoseok doesn't think Taehyung realizes he isn't really a lap dog, and was crushing Hoseok's legs as he bounced around in his lap. Once he was done with Taehyung, he offered to brush Yoongi, who allowed it just so that he could also climb into Hoseok's lap.

Once he was finished, he said goodnight to them and left, closing and locking up their cage. Hoseok could feel the beginnings of tiredness creeping up on him, eyes becoming heavy as the harsh flourescent lighting played tricks on his mind. He powered through it, finishing up with the nightly chores before locking the building up. Just as he went to go upstairs to his apartment and sleep, he noticed Jungkook giving him the most irresistible puppy eyes he's ever seen on a wolf hybrid. He was practically smashed up against the glass in his kennel, and even though it was dark, the moonlight from the window above the paddock door bathed the kennels in light, illuminating the wide, sparkly eyes that were staring at him.

"Jungkook.. Go to sleep."

"Me want pretty dog!" His voice was fairly muffled by the glass, just solid enough to penetrate through. He was pointing a finger towards the kennel shared by the dogs and Yoongi.

Hoseok released an exhausted sigh, peeking up at the security cameras stationed above the doorway. He'd have to find a way to get this footage deleted. He quickly made his way over to the kennels, silently adoring Jimin and Suga snuggled up together and fast asleep. Taehyung was looking at him, tail thumping against the ground.

"Can't sleep, huh Tae?"

"TaeTae's been thinking about that wolf and he can't sleep!" Hoseok gently shushed the dog, who had no sense of volume control. The lump of limbs and snores shifted slightly next to Taehyung, but both hybrids remained asleep. A sigh of relief left Hoseok. He looked at Taehyung and softly asked,

"Do you want to see him? Remember to whisper your answer."

Taehyung looked like he was deep in thought about it, his tail even pausing its rhythmic thumping as he stared off into space. "Yes... but he's scary. Will you make sure he doesn't hurt TaeTae?"

A warm smile spread across Hoseok's face as he looked Taehyung dead in the eyes and said,

"Of course."

He had managed to sneak the two dogs out, first bringing out Taehyung, then bringing out Jungkook afterwards. The moment Jungkook suspected he was brought out to meet Taehyung, Hoseok was practically dragged towards the side door, the lead doing little to nothing to slow Jungkook down. He recants his earlier sentiment; he was no match for a muscly hybrid taller than himself.

'Man were these leads faulty,' Hoseok thought, huffing as he unlocked the side door. He instinctually wanted to release the lead after what had happened last time he had Jungkook out here with other hybrids, but he decided against it. One look at Taehyung and he knew he had to protect him. The poor hybrid looked terrified, his tail practically nonexistent from being tucked between his legs so hard. His ears were also pinned back, he was shaking a bit, and he was frozen on the spot.

"Taehyung," Hoseok uttered as he tried slowing Jungkook's mad dash towards him, leaning back and digging his heels in a bit as he was forcefully walked forward by the overeager wolf. "Are you sure you still want to do this?"

Taehyung opened his mouth to answer, but Jungkook was already there, sniffing his scent gland again and licking at his face. The husky whined a bit, biting down on his bottom lip as Jungkook crowded into his space, licking along his jawline and neck. He knew trying to get Jungkook to stop would be nearly impossible, because wolves ran purely on instinct 99% of the time and this was one of those times. It would be like telling someone not to breathe when their body instinctually forces them to.

"Taehyung, I need to know..." Hoseok trailed off, both him and Taehyung stunned to find Jungkook tilting his neck, exposing his own scent gland for Taehyung to mark up. Even a temporary flash of the neck is a sign of trust and submission, so to see a lone alpha doing it for a dog he barely knows is incredible. Taehyung's tail nervously wagged as he scented Jungkook, and they kept scenting eachother until Taehyung visibly relaxed, the tension seeping out of his body with every passing second. Once they became a bit friendlier with eachother, Hoseok let go of Jungkook's leash and decided to throw a ball across the paddock and get them running after it. They still didn't shift into their primal forms, most likely because seeing Jungkook in wolf form would scare Taehyung again, undoing all the progress they made so far.

Hoseok sat down on the lawn chair that was by the side door, watching them run to bring it back. Jungkook had the ball, dashing towards Hoseok at incredible speeds and slowing down before he crashed into the male. Taehyung was right behind him, running into Jungkook's back with an 'oof'. Jungkook handed the ball back to Hoseok and they both began excitedly wagging their tails as they watched Hoseok's arm wind back. Once he threw it, they ran back off into the paddock to catch it.

He was scrolling through his phone for about 10 minutes, waiting for them to bring the ball back.

But they never did.

Hoseok got up and went to investigate. He trudged through the grass and looked around, spotting them behind the hill once he made it to the end of the paddock. Taehyung was laying down on his side, his shirt hiked up and his pants in shreds around his ankles as Jungkook hovered over him, licking and biting all down his body and leaving a colorful array of bruises along the tanned skin. The husky's face was scrunched up, and it was hard to tell if it was due to pain or pleasure until a soft moan left his lips. His face then smoothed out, looking totally blissed out as Jungkook spread his cheeks with one hand and licked at his hole, a littany of deep groans falling from his mouth. Jungkook manhandled him onto his stomach, and the husky presented to him, tail wagging slowly then curling off to the side as slick gushed from his hole. Jungkook immediately mounted him, grabbing Taehyung's hip and slamming into him, settling for a bruising pace instantly.

Hoseok didn't want to watch really, but he had to. He promised Taehyung he'd keep him safe and he had to make sure Jungkook wouldn't hurt him. He just prayed that Taehyung was quiet.

Nope.

Taehyung was a screamer. He thought Jimin was loud, but he's starting to think Jimin just liked to be loud intentionally to grab people's attention.

Taehyung though?

He was loud without even realizing.

His screams echoed throughout the paddock as he was caught up in the throes of ecstasy, completely oblivious to his surroundings as Jungkook pounded into him. The moans leaving him were beyond pornographic, and he actually squealed as Jungkook changed the angle a bit and hit the heavenly spot inside of him.

"A-alpha..~ Taetae is- AH~!" Taehyung's hand was moving swiftly over his own cock, and he milked himself through his orgasm as ropes of cum shot onto the grass. Jungkook was relentless, kneading his ass while he continued to fuck into Taehyung, quiet whimpers of oversensitivity beginning to fill the air. Jungkook moved Taehyung so that he was on his side, continuing to fuck into the dog and lifting a tanned leg in the air and hooking it over his shoulder as Taehyung bit down on his bottom lip, looking up through his lashes at Jungkook. The wolf let out a low growl as he slowed down, a knot forming at the base of his cock, squelching sounds assaulting Hoseok's ears as he popped the knot in before pulling it back out. Taehyung keened once the knot was pushed in for the final time, throwing his head back as Jungkook began to pump his seed into him. Jungkook leaned over, now on hand and knees as he devoured Taehyung's long neck with licks and nibbles, then settled on his side to get comfortable before he continued his feast. Taehyung's eyes had fluttered shut, and he tilted his head to the side to allow Jungkook to mark it up, moaning as he sucked on his scent gland.

Hoseok blinked, not knowing what to do now. Turns out he wasn't as opposed to it as he previously thought, what with his face being flushed and a semi just barley visible through his shorts. He needed some air, even though he was outside. He decided that he'd go get some toast while waiting for Jungkook's knot to deflate, and walked off inside while praying once again. This time the prayer was that Jungkook didn't randomly decide to take a chunk out of Taehyung's neck. He went to turn into the break room, only to find Jimin staring at him through the chainlink of his kennel, looking positively pissed.

"Where's Taehyung? Why is there so much noise outside? Are you using him for dogfighting or something? Do I have to snitch?" He was whispering harshly, pointing an accusing finger at Hoseok, who put a hand over his chest and gasped at such accusations.

"What the hell, Jimin!? Do you really think I'd knowingly let two animals tear eachother apart? You know me better than that," he whisper-yelled, pointing a finger right back at him. "What are you doing up, go back to sleep."

"No! Not until you tell me where Taehyung is!"

"Fine! He's outside with Jungkook! But they are NOT fighting, I can assure you of that. So stop accusing me of such horrible things!"

"Are... are they having sex?"

A pause. "....Yeah.."

"Oh my god, Taehyung was a virgin! Let me outside. I want to make sure he's okay!"

"He's fine, I pro-"

"LET ME OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW OR I SWEAR TO GOD I'LL SCREAM AND WAKE THIS WHOLE PLACE UP."

Hoseok put his hands up placatingly. "Okay! Sheesh! Calm down!"

♤♤

Once Jimin was outside, he quickly sniffed out their scent, making his way over to them. Hoseok followed behind and watched as Jimin crouched down and licked Taehyung on the cheek, eyes filled with worry. Jungkook growled at him, but once Jimin looked at him, the wolf sniffed the air and quieted.

"Are you okay Tae?"

"TaeTae feels good.." His eyes were half-lidded, and he let out a soft whine of pleasure as Jungkook shifted. "Jiminie, why.. Mmh~.. are you sad?"

Jimin sighed, taking a seat next to the pair. "I didn't want your first time to be with some random knotheaded wolf. You're special to me Tae, and I wanted your first time to be with someone special. Someone worthy." Jimin stroked along Taehyung's back as he said this, his fingers gliding through Taehyung's hair once he lifted his hand back up.

"But this was special.. at least to TaeTae. Jiminie doesn't have to worry about TaeTae. Taetae is fine."

Jimin just gently massaged Taehyung's scalp, then glaring over at Jungkook. "You better treat him right or I'll kill you."

Jungkook snorted, shaking his head with a smile on his lips like Jimin was silly. "Omega can't kill alpha."

"Watch me." Jimin said, never breaking his withering glare. Jungkook gulped after being stared at for an uncomfortable amount of time, looking around nervously.

"Uhh... Jimin. Now that you know Taehyung is okay, do you want to go in?"

"No, not until Tae comes in with me."

"Ok."

It had taken 20 minutes for the knot to go down, Hoseok quickly ushering everyone inside once it did. He returned a reluctant Jungkook back to his glass kennel, and put Taehyung and Jimin back in theirs. He also finally got to make his toast, but decided to just take it up to bed with him and eat. He'd regret the crumbs in the bed later, but for now he was too tired to sit down and eat in the break room. As he walked into the kennel area to get upstairs, he did a double-take at what he saw. In the dog kennel, Taehyung was laid on his back, nibbling on his lip as he tried to keep in his moans and failing pretty badly. Jimin was in between his legs, fingers plunged into his slick rim to hold it open while he shoved his tongue inside. Cum was pouring out of the tight hole, coating the kennel floor and Jimin's chin in its sticky fluids.

Hoseok gaped like a fish out of water, the omega interacting with Taehyung this way seeming so out of character. His toast almost fell out of his grip with his shock, but luckily he kept a firm grip on it. Jimin just looked over at Hoseok and smirked, looking like a literal demon in the flesh while those sharp eyes pierced through him. Then, he turned back and continued his meal, and Hoseok quickly shuffled towards the hallway stairs, confused and unsettled.

"This has certainly been one hell of a day," he mumbled to himself later that night as he got into bed, thoughts briefly shifting over to everything that had happened.

With a shrug, he turned over and flicked off his lamp, snuggling into the blankets as he began to drift off to sleep.

Chapter 5: Kookie

Chapter Text

Jungkook slowly opened his eyes, squinting at the harsh sunlight pouring into the corner of his glass kennel. With a stretch and a loud yawn, he rose from his position on the floor, crawling on all fours up to the glass to peek out at the pretty dog's enclosure. As he came up to the glass, the dog came into view. He was talking animatedly, throwing his hands about with a wide boxy grin on his face while he spoke to the fluffy dog. He couldn't quite pick up their conversation, but it didn't matter anyways. Just looking at the pretty dog was enough for him. He could feel his tail kicking up, wagging behind himself as he admired the other from afar. A whine left his mouth once he saw the staff open up the kennel and remove the dogs and the wolf, and he waited to be removed as well, pacing the perimeter of his kennel.

When someone finally opened the door, he looked up in excitement, only for it to fade when he saw it was the mean lady. This woman and he had first met a couple days after he got his cast on, because she had been assigned to take him out to the paddocks and get some exercise. See, Jungkook had a habit of nibbling on his cast. He could only remember bits of what she said to him when she first saw him nibbling on it, but he remembers her yelling at him for something. That wasn't what alarmed him though, it was her posture while she was talking, her body tense with aggression radiating off of her in waves. She had stormed over to him when he just stared at her with wide eyes, and the smoking stick she had been holding was brought down on his armpit when he had lifted both hands up to protect himself. Nothing had happened to her afterwards, and he had always wondered what excuse she used when she brought him in and he was whining all the way back to his kennel. The pain had subsided by the next day, and it had healed completely within the next few days, which Jungkook was very happy about.

But he wasn't happy now.

He had been in the middle of biting at his cast and tearing chunks off, the evidence of his wrongdoings scattered all around him. His eyes were wide in fear as she came closer to him, and he gave her a nervous smile to try to defuse the situation. The slap that echoed throughout the room quickly wiped that smile away, though, and he backed himself into the corner and began to growl, cheek stinging and bright red.

He had had enough of this, and had done nothing wrong, so why is he getting punished

The woman pulled out the black box all the humans had, and began mumbling into the thing, then walking even closer to him. He lunged forward and tried to grab her leg and bite her but she dodged it at the last second, then made the executive decision that standing close wasn't a smart idea.

'Good,' he thought, a smirk lifting his lips a bit.

Footsteps echoed down the hall, getting louder and louder, and suddenly the mean lady stepped back towards the door, opening it and pointing a finger in Jungkook's direction. A bunch of humans came running in, pointing a shiny object in his direction. Just as he remembered what the objects had done to him before, he was shot at, pain seizing him as the darts pierced his skin, causing him to slump over in the corner.

The last thing he sees before he blacks out is the woman smirking right back at him.

Waking up in his cell with something strapped to his face and shiny cuffs around his wrists was never fun. His whole body ached and he was still dizzy from being tranquilized, shivers wracking his naked frame due to the cold chill in the air around him. He hadn't felt it before; it seemed like the temperature had dropped since he passed out. At least that annoying ass cast was finally off.

He maneuvered himself from his side to his front and stood up, a thing he rarely did because he preferred crouching and crawling. The cuffs prevented him from doing this, though, so standing would have to do for now. He looked around the empty room, then slowly meandered over to the glass to see if the nice man was there. His sunshine smile would definitely make Jungkook feel better in this dark time. Or maybe pretty dog would be there. But when he got up to the glass, neither were there. He felt his tail tuck as he leaned up against the glass, eyes downcast. Jungkook decided to wait it out, sitting on the ground and resting his head on his arms, which were propped up by his bent knees.

"Hey Jungkook. Jungkook! I brought meat from the break room to make you feel better!" Jungkook's head and ears perked up at that voice, and he looked over to his left to see the nice man standing there, holding food in his hands as he walked over to Jungkook. A small smile decorated the hybrid's covered mouth, his tired eyes crinkling a little. He didn't remember falling asleep; he must've dozed off while thinking.

"I'm so sorry they put the muzzle on your face, Jungkook..." the nice man's face morphed into a sad expression, and Jungkook wondered why as he watched the male lift a hand to his face and unclasp the weird contraption around his nose and mouth, the black device falling to the ground uselessly in front of him. Jungkook grinned as he the human set his food down, and got busy digging in, the meat tasting so delicious. He never had anything this good while scavenging, so he enjoyed every piece of meat these people gave him. When he was done, he began to whine, pushing the bowl back over to the other with a pout on his face.

"Hey! Don't try to be all cute with me!" Jungkook tilted his head, confused at what the man was saying, but then the man shrieked and started jumping around like a madman. "Aigoo, so cute!!"

He ignored the man's screeching when he saw movement out of the corner of his eye, and turned to look through the glass at the pretty dog, who was not only back, but looking back at him too. Clearly he just got washed, because his beautiful black curls were damp, water droplets dripping off his hair and cascading down his face. His chest ached as his wolf did backflips, and he wished to be that water. The dog licked his lips, then gave Jungkook a shy smile and a wave, which he returned with a bold smirk and a wave of his own. The fluffy dog popped up out of nowhere behind the pretty dog, glaring at Jungkook through the kennels chainlink. But he couldn't care, not when the pretty dog was now making less innocent faces, most likely remembering what had happened the night before, whining and biting his bottom lip as he gripped at the chainlink. He faintly heard a door shut, but was more focused on licking at the inside of his own mouth and biting his own bottom lip as he fought the urge to break through the glass, eyes narrowed as he zeroed in on the dog.

He then lept a foot in the air as the nice man's face popped up right in front of him on the other side of the glass, clutching his chest as his eyes almost popped out from how wide they were.

"Do you want to go to the playroom? It started raining so you can't go outside. After you play need to be bathed, though." Jungkook tilted his head again, but then nodded.

"Pretty dog come too?" He pointed at the dog, who was looking at the nice man like he had grown 7 heads while his ears were being cleaned by the fluffy dog.

"No, not during the daytime. You guys are only allowed to meet late at night."

"Ok nice man, night." He said with a nod as he looked out at the pretty dog, not noticing the nice man re-enter the room and freeze while picking up the contraption from the floor.

"...Nice man?"

"Yes, nice man," Jungkook affirmed, then turning to look at him innocently. "Is nice man mad about name?"

"No! No.. it's just... my name is Hoseok. You can call me that if you'd like. Or Hobi."

"Hobi." Jungkook liked how simple the name was, so he chose Hobi. The man in question smiled, a bright thing that could rival the sun, and put the contraption back on his face.

"You have to wear this muzzle outside of your kennel for awhile, because apparently you were bad. But I forgave you the minute I heard what happened, because you're always so sweet to me. Also you had to eat, so that's why I took it off and let you have a breather." Hobi kept idly chit-chatting as they walked out of the kennel and through the doorway to get to the playroom, stopping in the hallway outside of the playroom door to grab his keys and unlock it. Jungkook kept his head down the whole time, gaze on the shiny cuffs that bound his wrists together. Once Hobi unlocked the door, he looked up, only to be blown away by all the different toys and activities in the room. There were tall bookshelves filled with board games of every sort, as well as stuffed animals, chew toys, and bones on the floor. His tail banged off the side of the doorway in excitement as he looked at all the many things he could play with, and as soon as Hobi unlocked his cuffs and removed the muzzle, he ran to the stuffed animals. Jungkook felt like he was in heaven as he chewed on the end of a bone while flipping through a book, looking at all the bright pictures and colors on the pages. Hobi ruffled his hair, and he leaned his head against the male's leg while he tried to understand the words on the page. He couldn't make sense of it, turning the book upside down to see if it made things easier.

It didn't.

He eventually got bored with the book, Hobi sitting in a chair near the door and scrolling through his phone by this point. Jungkook got up, still gnawing on the rawhide as he looked around the lively room. He loved how the colorful jigsaw foam floor felt on his feet, walking around in circles just to watch the material breathe underneath him.

"Jungkook, I need to go help Jackson capture a hybrid, I hope you'll be good while I'm gone." Jungkook stared at him for a second, then smiled.

"I good. I be good for you." Hobi smiled as well, trusting him to behave as he closed the door. The room was babyproofed so that hybrids could be left unattended in the room, as long as someone did a checkup every once in awhile.

Jungkook was in the middle of staring at the top shelf after 30 minutes of wandering around, preparing to jump up on it, when the door rattled and opened. He looked over his shoulder, eyes meeting the three hybrids coming in. It was the pretty dog, the fluffy dog, and the small wolf. The human that brought them in stared at Jungkook as he let them off their leads, then shrugging and leaving, shutting the door behind him. The smell of the pretty dog's sweet honeysuckle scent filled his nose, momentarily distracting him from everything else. His tail began to wag, but stopped as an unfamiliar scent hit him. He eyed the other wolf. He knew the fluffy dog smelled like an omega, his scent smelling like honey, so he was no threat. But the bitter smell of smoky pine hitting his nose was alpha, causing him to growl low in his throat and square his shoulders. The other alpha growled as well, and they both shifted. Their wolves analyzed eachother, circling one another and snapping their jaws. Then suddenly, Jungkook lunged, knocking the smaller wolf clean off his paws and into the nearby wall. Snarls and low whines left the smaller wolf as Jungkook pinned him, and he opened his mouth and placed his mouth around the wolf's throat, not biting down, but giving a warning. The smaller alpha quickly backed down and bared his thoat, tail tucked, and Jungkook let him go, shifting back into his hybrid form and walking back over to the shelves.

He faintly heard the other wolf shifting back, but only turned one of his ears in the other's direction, not wanting to give him any more attention. The smell of distressed omegas and a distressed alpha was making him tense, and he was going to calm down by distracting himself. He grabbed a pop-up book, sitting down in the center of the room and reading it. The smell of burning honeysuckle grew more intense, and he heard the sounds of the pretty wolf slowly approaching. The dog sat down in front of him, his long fingers resting on the top of the book as he pulled it downward so that Jungkook was looking at him.

"What's your name?"

"..Jungkook."

"Taehyung." Taehyung pointed at himself, then pointed over at the fluffy dog who was cuddling the other alpha. "That's Jimin, and that's Yoongi." Jungkook raised his eyebrow, wondering why he was randomly introducing everyone.

"Taetae just wants us all to be friends!" Taehyung basically read his mind, then removed the book from him entirely, placing it aside and crawling into his bare lap, scent sweeting. "Please can you be nice? For TaeTae?"

"..Okay, I be nice." Jungkook picked the book back up, showing Taehyung all the pop-ups as the omega gasped, awe written all over his face. Jungkook loved being this close to the pretty dog, and so did his wolf. A spike in pheromones caught his attention, and he looked over to see Jimin pulling his own shorts down and crawling into Yoongi's lap, sticking his own two fingers in his leaking hole and moaning. Yoongi watched him with a passive expression, but the massive boner he sported told a different story. Jungkook could feel himself getting hard from the scene, and he began rutting up against Taehyung's clothed ass, gripping his waist. Jungkook looked at Taehyung, eyes lidded with pleasure as the pants provided good friction. Taehyung began to leak, slick staining the back of his pants, and he turned his head around to look at Jungkook, pushing his ass back against Jungkook's cock. Jungkook swiftly ripped Taehyung's pants off, the pretty dog lifting himself up a bit and seating himself straight on Jungkook's cock, releasing a low gutteral moan.

"Jungkookie~.." Just as Jungkook was about to thrust up into him, Taehyung pulled off and turned around to face him, gripping his length and seating himself back down on it. The omega placed his hands on his shoulders, rolling his hips as he bit down on his bottom lip. Up close, Taehyung's blue eyes were so much icier, pink dusted across his cheeks as he bounced on his cock. They both leaned in, their lips meeting in the middle in a passionate, messy kiss, swallowing eachothers moans. Jungkook's hands crept down the dog's lean body and stopped at his ass, gripping and smacking the plump bottom as Taehyung found a good rhythm. Taehyung jolted forward, a loud moan tumbling from his lips, Jungkook taking the opportunity to grab his hips and thrust up into him. The scream he lets out heats up Jungkook's core, and he could feel his knot begin to swell.

"Jungkookie please breed me~..! I want your pups~.." Jungkook understood enough, the thought of Taehyung carrying his pups sending over the edge as he forced his knot into Taehyung's tight hole and came. He saw stars, gripping Taehyung a little harder to keep them both steady, moans flowing out of his mouth endlessly as he continued to cum. Taehyung planted kisses all over his face, smiling and pushing Jungkook onto his back so that he could lay on his chest and cuddle him.

The smell of overly sweet honey made his nose tingle as Jimin crawled over to Taehyung, whining softly. Taehyung seemed to know what to do, bending Jimin over and licking at his wet hole, cum dribbling down Jimin's leg as Taehyung cleaned him out. Jungkook's eyes roll back, pulling his bottom lip between his teeth at the sight in front of him, a wave of pleasure running though him as he came again from the show. Once the knot deflated, Taehyung crawled off and presented himself to Jimin, the fluffy omega wasting no time as he dove in.

The room was like a candle shop, a blend of all their individual scents mixing together to create an overpowering smell. Jungkook didn't mind it though, and watched the two omegas put on quite the show. His eyes met Yoongi's, and the older wolf made his way over to sit next to Jungkook, a sigh leaving him as he watched the omegas as well. By this point, Taehyung was moan-screaming again as Jimin stuck two fingers into his puffy hole, purposefully hitting his g-spot and leaving the poor omega a weeping, drooling mess. Jungkook narrowed his eyes at Jimin when he could tell Taehyung was getting close to cumming again, not liking the smug little smirk on Jimin's face. He growled lowly, and when Jimin ignored him, he picked up the pop-up book and threw it, hitting Jimin square on the nose. The fluffy omega whimpered, backing away from Taehyung, who also whined at the loss of pleasure. Jungkook watched as Taehyung then slowly got up on all fours and slinked over to him, his wolf pleased with Taehyung's choice, tail wagging as the flustered male pawed at his chest before turning around and presenting. Jungkook gripped his ass, pulling the mounds apart, jaw working as he licked up his juices before shoving his tongue into Taehyung's hole.

The door was flung open, Hoseok running in with other staff to get all of them back into their cages. Jungkook didn't even acknowledge them, though, Taehyung's keening fueling him to continue.

"Jungkook, stop..! You gotta go back to your cage now..!" Hoseok sounded distressed as he walked up to the male, face flushed in embarrassment. The human ball of sunshine froze when Jungkook snarled at him. "Jungkook.."

Jungkook felt a pang in his chest at the disappointment in Hoseok's voice, but his wolf wanted Taehyung, hands subconsciously tightening around the pretty omega as he climbed into Jungkook's lap and licked his chin. Hoseok just deflated like a sad balloon, arms hanging limp next to him as he avoided eye contact. He then left, closing the door behind him. Only then could Jungkook relax, sniffing the air as he looked around. It seemed that Jimin and Yoongi were taken away, leaving only Taehyung and Jungkook.

They finally had alone time.

The pair cuddled up to eachother and scented one another, a contented rumble coming from Jungkook as he got to be next to his beautiful omega. They fucked a couple more times, night falling as they became entwined for the fifth time, licking and kissing eachother's lips, faces, and necks.

Taehyung dozed off in Jungkook's arms while they were locked together, thoroughly fucked out and sore by this stage, and Jungkook held him close to his chest while he ran his fingers through the husky's locks, love in his eyes as he watched the tired hybrid sleep.

Eventually they had to go back to their own kennels, Jungkook being taken away once his knot deflated by a very stoic-looking Hoseok, who didn't say a word to him as he got a lead around the hybrid's neck and took him back. Jungkook felt bad for what he did earlier, so when they reached his kennel he gave Hoseok one of the dinner bones he had stashed in the corner.

"Here. I sorry." He placed the big bone in Hoseok's hand, who just stared at it, expression blank, before looking up at him. Jungkook nervously chewed on his bottom lip as he looked from the bone to Hoseok, worry growing by the second. What if he really ruined his friendship with the human? "Hobi I-"

"It's okay, Jungkook. I forgive you," he spoke softly, a small dimpled smile forming on his face in between sentences. "I just felt a little betrayed, is all. You wouldn't understand though, you're pretty feral. I'm just glad you're sorry." He reached up, hesitating for a second before placing his hand on Jungkook's head and ruffling his bangs a bit. A big smile lit up Jungkook's face, tail wagging as he happily nuzzled his head into Hoseok's palm. "You really like Taehyung. Maybe I can get him moved into your kennel."

Jungkook's eyes widened as he imagined Taehyung in his kennel, and he grew quite "excited" at the thought. Hoseok's face went all pink again as the naked hybrid didn't even try to cover himself, and he quickly wished Jungkook goodnight and made his way out.

Jungkook laid down on the ground, ignoring his erection in favor of watching Hoseok through the glass in his kennel, eyes tracking the male until he disappeared through the doorway to the playroom. His ears perked up as he heard the door open and close, and he listened for any signs of it opening again. After about twenty seconds the door reopened and shut once more, and he watched Hoseok lead a very tired Taehyung back to his own kennel, rubbing at his eyes and yawning as he limped his way there. Jungkook snickered, then getting comfortable and slowly drifting off.

The last thing on his mind was Taehyung and Hoseok, his dreams filled with running around a cottage house.

Chapter 6: In Too Deep

Chapter Text

"..I want the section open now, okay? So I've opened it. They've had enough time to get used to their environment and everything, Hoseok. We can't keep potential buyers away forever. All of the section's hybrids are up on the site now, so buyers can buy them. There's already a buyer for the pups."

"Okay, Seunghyun-ssi, I understand. I just don't want someone bad taking any of these hybrids. They've all been through enough.. I hope you do a thorough background check on whoever gets the pups, too." Hoseok felt his heart sink at the thought of these hybrids getting adopted by someone else. He has never connected with a section this much, each hybrid holding a special place in his heart, even as he was currently cleaning out vomit from Namjin's kennel. One of the pups had torn open one of the doggy beds and eaten the stuffing, resulting in an upset tummy and a mess of half-digested hybrid kibble and stuffing on the floor. Said toddler pup was staring at Hoseok while he cleaned while the other pup was actively trying to step in the puke.

"You know I wouldn't let that happen, and of course I did a background check. I'm strict, not tyrannical. Goodbye, Hoseok." The phone call ended with very little fanfare, which he kind of expected given the scary news he had just recieved. His boss had decided that enough time had passed for the hybrids to fit into their new environments, and was going to put them up on the shelter website along with all the other adoptable hybrids and animals.

That means his perfect little haven with these hybrids would soon be over.

Hoseok sighed as he finished cleaning up the puke, picking up the pukey pup and carrying him to the clinic. He ignores the slaps across his chest and face, giving the starry-eyed toddler a look when the little hybrid decides to punch him instead.

"Since you're leaving soon, you need a name. I'll name youuu.... Yonghyun." The wolf pup just stares at him while sucking his thumb, then hits him again. Hoseok rotates his jaw, cracking it as his left cheek burns from the force of the slap. He opens the clinic door, swiftly making his way over and setting the rowdy pup down on the clinic table. After explaining what happened to the nurse, he leaves and goes back in Namjin's kennel, sitting down next to the other male pup. They have a staring contest that doesn't last very long, the pup shying away from his gaze after a couple seconds.

"Junghee. That's your name now." The skittish pup sat in the far corner of the large kennel, whimpering and yipping softly. "Aww, please don't be scared. Your parents are almost back. They're getting a bath right now."

The pup just stared at him and whined some more. Hoseok felt horrible, trying everything to get the pup to cheer up. Nothing was working. He then had an idea, leaving the kennel to go grab a ball that most hybrids liked. Hoseok came back with the blue ball, pressing the button on the side of it and watching the pup's expression light up when the ball lit up as well. It had all sorts of colors coming from it, and when Hoseok set the ball down and rolled it towards the Junghee, the pup hybrid squealed in delight. Hoseok felt very accomplished, giving himeslf a mental pat on the back. He watched the pup play for a short while, only stopping once he heard what he thought was Namjoon's growls. Once he got out of the kennel and got a good look at the two hybrids, though, he realized it was Jin growling and snapping his teeth.

"Woah," Hoseok said, holding his hands up placatingly as he backed away from the kennel. "It's okay Jinnie, I won't hurt the pup. I promise. Let's calllmm downn.." the gentle tone seemed to work temporarily on Jin, just long enough for the staff to be able to put the pair in the kennel. Once the door was closed, Hoseok grabbed a chair and dragged it up to Namjin's kennel, taking a seat. Jin came up to him immediately, his tail sticking straight out and his posture stiff.

"Why do you think I'm a threat, Jin? More importantly, why DOESN'T Namjoon think I'm a threat...?" Hoseok rubbed his thumb and idex finger down his jawline, the tips meeting at the end of his chin as he thought about it. He was sat by the front corner of the kennel, so he couldn't really see Namjoon or Junghee while Jin was in the way, but he assumed Namjoon was calmly playing with the toddler.

Maybe Namjoon is adapting faster than Jin?

However, the question was answered when the clinic staff came shuffling down the hallway, Yonghyun in tow. Immediately, Jin began whining and making odd sounds, the noises making Yonghyun squirm in the staff's grip. The dead-eyed employee looked two seconds away from ending it all, but she pushed through it, opening the kennel and placing him in. Jin rushed over to the pup, scenting him and cleaning him.

"Ohhh, you thought I did something to your other pup. No wonder why you were pissed."

Hoseok was in the paddock, sun beating down on his forehead as he read an article on his phone. Every hybrid but Jungkook was outside at the moment. A few staff members had accidentally let all six of them out together about a week ago and found that they all get along pretty decently with eachother, and are respectful of eachother's boundaries ever since 'the incident'. So now they're all allowed to peacefully coexist together and go outside all at once. It's unfortunate for Jungkook, but the virile alpha just didn't know when to back down, even though it's clear that Namjoon is the head alpha in this section. He should let the wolves sort their differences out in the divider room. It was a fairly new room in the same hallway as the clinic and the playroom with two doors you could enter through. On the inside, it was just a long empty concrete room with two chain link fences about 5 centimeters apart running down the middle of the room. It was split so that one animal/hybrid could enter through one door, and another could enter through the other door and they could get to know eachother (play, sniff, growl, etc.) without the danger of them attacking eachother.

Yeah, he'd definitely have to do that later today.

But for now he just watched all the hybrids interact in their primal forms, brows furrowing when Jin would occasionally pause whatever he was doing and grunt, then go back to his activities like nothing happened. It was kinda weird, but he's definitely seen hybrids do weirder. After about thirty minutes of play, Jin slowly meandered over to Hoseok, Namjoon right behind him. Jin shifted back into his hybrid form without warning, and paced around near the door. Namjoon shifted too, licking at Jin's face and walking with him.

"Are you hot, Jin? I'll take you in and get you some water."

Hoseok got up from the chair, hearing his back pop as he stretched and loudly yawned, then got a lead around Jin and Namjoon and brought them inside. Jin seemed to want to make a beeline for his kennel, but the lead prevented him from doing so, and he whined.

"It's okay, Jin, almost there." He notified a staff member about the remaining hybrids outside so someone could sit out there with them, then brought Jin and Namjoon to their kennel and handed them water bottles. Namjoon opened his water after two tries and gulped it down like a man stranded in a desert, while Jin completely ignored his water bottle and sat down next to his sleeping pups.

"Jin, you aren't thirsty?" Jin just stared at him, then laid down on his side and began cleaning the pups ears. He then froze up again and whined quietly, then going back to cleaning their ears with more fervor than before. When Namjoon crept over to join Jin and the pups, he was almost bitten for his efforts, and quickly retreated to the other side of the kennel. Hoseok was dumbfounded, not understanding the hybrid's reaction, then looked up as he spotted Jackson walking by.

"Jackson, is the divider room empty right now?" Hoseok pouted and crossed his arms when Jackson just shrugged.

"I'll go check." Jackson jogged down the row of kennels and into the hallway, popping his head out of the doorway after five seconds. "Yep!"

"Awesome." Hoseok opened the kennel, putting a lead around Namjoon and dragging the reluctant hybrid out. He thinks it's best if Namjoon and Jungkook meet again now, especially since Jin doesn't want Namjoon there at the moment.

So, Namjoon and Jungkook still do not get along.

He didn't expect a miracle cure for their issues, but he also didn't expect this. They were both in primal form—having shifted once he brought Jungkook into the room—and they were running the length of the room back and forth, eyes never leaving one another once during the whole thing. Growls and snarls echoed throughout the room as they ran, their neatly trimmed nails clacking against the concrete. Hoseok was sitting on the left side of the room with Jungkook, no words being spoken. The exchange is just so..fascinating. he's never seen this before. They only stop occasionally to try and bite eachother through the chainlink fence, but then they go right back to running. After about an hour, he hears one of them let out a pitiful whine...

Wait, that wasn't them

Hoseok stands up, noticing that both wolves have frozen too. He puts a lead on Jungkook and slowly opens the door, taking him back to his kennel and also investigating the noise. It's gone quiet now, no noise being heard in the section. He opens Jungkook's kennel and releases him into the room, noticing how much the wolf is sniffing the air. He closes and locks Jungkook's kennel door, then hears a soft high-pitched whimper. He follows the sound, walking along the kennels until he reaches Namjin's.

The sight that greets him is one for the history books.

Jin is on his hands and feet, squatting down and grunting as he bears down. There is fluid underneath his feet, and he can see more trickling down around the pup's head, which was already crowning. Omega hybrids are known to have quick births, and Jin was no exception, his pushing causing the baby's head to come halfway out. Jin then stopped for a second, panting and crying out, eyes frantically darting around the room.

"Shit..! I need to get you to the clinic." Jin's ear turned towards Hoseok, but the male didn't think he could really hear him at this stage. Hoseok opened the kennel door, but stopped when he hear Jin snarling wildly. "Damnit, you can't make this easy can you."

He tried to lasso the lead around Jin's neck, but he kept removing it from his neck, the third time growling and biting down on the lead hard enough to crack some of the pressure sensors. If Hoseok thought they looked feral at first, that was nothing compared to how Jin looked now. There was a distant, wild look in Jin's eyes as he stared at the human, sweat dripping down his face and plastering some of the golden strands of his hair to his forehead. He was rooted in one spot, but Hoseok knew if he got too close he'd end up getting bit badly. Like amputation of some fingers badly. Hoseok had to back off and let Jin just do his thing. Clearly he's done it successfully before, so he should be okay. Hoseok still was going to notify the clinic about the birth though, so they can be ready afterwards.

It's been 2 hours, and not much progress has been made. The other hybrids had been brought back in by this stage, and all three of them were watching from their cage and sniffing intensely. The clinicians have come out to monitor the hybrid too. See, the pup's head is out, but the shoulders seem to be a little wide, and it's causing a delay. Jin is crying actual tears at this point, clinging to the side of the kennel and white knuckling as he grips through the chainlink. He seems to be having another breather, his chest and belly heaving as he takes deep breaths. Hoseok is highly upset and concerned, wanting nothing more than to be able to cuddle Jin and tell him everything is going to be alright, but he'd like to keep his face and body in one piece and Jin can't understand him anyways.

Jin began snarling at nothing extremely loudly, and Hoseok realized he was just bearing down again once the baby came slipping out. The clinicians and Hoseok cheered as the pup's cries echoed through the room, clapping softly and watching as Jin cleaned his little one, then tying and and biting off the umbilical cord. A clinician leaned in and whispered, "We're going to have to grab that pup the minute Jin is distracted. We've got to make sure it's healthy." Hoseok nodded, trying to think of a way to get the pup. It seemed nearly impossible, seeing as it was feeding off of Jin at the moment.

Jin made his way over to the nest he had built out of blankets, settling down on his side and letting his newborn feed. The cute moment lasted until Jin began shivering, then grunting. A second pup crowned within the next 30 minutes, and came sliding out 10 minutes after that. This pup was much smaller, and gave weak whimpers instead of a loud cry. Hoseok looked over to the clinicians while Jin was cleaning the pup, who shared a similar look of worry.

Hoseok thought everything was done until he remembered there was supposed to be three, Jin grunting and tiredly whining as the third one began to travel down the birth canal. Jin was very strong throughout the whole thing, but Hoseok noticed now he was becoming weak and tired now. Jin slowly rose from the nest, squatting down on wobbly hands and legs and bearing down hard a few times, causing the pup's head to fully crown. His face turned a pretty shade of pink as he continued to push, and the baby slipped out all at once. This one didn't cry at all, which was even more concerning. Luckily, by this stage Jin only had the energy to clean and remove the umbilical cord, laying down in the nest once he did so. The clinicians moved quickly once Hoseok unlocked the cage, Jin dozing off in the nest and unable to do anything about it. Once they got the pups out and into the clinic room, one clinician came back and cleaned up all the afterbirth, placing it into a bucket and walking off. The clinician came back afterwards wheeling in a vital sign monitor as well as a bunch of other medical supplies to do a quick check up on Jin. After a few minutes, they left. The cage was still filthy, but at least they removed the placenta. Hoseok would've fainted if he had to touch that.

He heard banging coming from the halls and quickly made his way there, worried that something bad had happened at the clinic, but upon arriving realised that it was coming from the divider room. He facepalmed.

He forgot about Namjoon.

Quickly whipping out his jingling keys, he unlocked the door, Namjoon barreling out in hybrid form, eyes manic. Before he could even grab a lead, Namjoon ran into the kennel area and tried ripping his own kennel door off its hinges. Hoseok managed to stop him, putting his key in the door and opening it for him. Namjoon ran in, licking all over Jin's sleeping face and body, cleaning him up.. and..

Out..

Hoseok had to look away, face scarlet once Namjoon started eating Jin out. These hybrids just had no shame, and Hoseok was the only one paying the price for it.

He walked away once Jin started moaning in his sleep because that was just too much for him right now, heading towards the clinic to see the new pups.

When he entered, he saw two of the little ones shuffling around, half crawling already in their hospital bassinets. Hybrids grew up way faster than humans; it only took them 2-5 human years to grow up, depending on the species. This meant that they'd be crawling within the next couple weeks. On the front of each bassinet was a card, which had information on it such as the birth times, weight, and length. It even had names picked out for the pups. The color of the card depended on the gender, and there were two blue cards and one pink one.

The pup who was born first, named Kai, was the biggest out of the three, weighing 8 pounds 2 oz. and was 22 inches long. Among the straight black hair atop his head he had two tiny brown wolf ears protruding out, and a small brown tail to match, and was smushing his face against the side of the bassinet and rooting, searching for a nipple to latch onto. The second baby, Jisoo, weighed 6 pounds 11 ounces and was 19 inches long. She looked quite small, but she was also using her strength to shuffle around, looking for a nipple as well. Her hair, ears, and tail were blonde just like her mama. The third one, Jibeom, was 6 pounds 5 ounces and was 20 inches long, but he wasn't moving. He was certainly breathing, but wasn't really moving. Just laying there on his back, unfocused eyes darting around as his mouth moved. He had black ears, hair, and a black tail. A clinician came over when they saw Hoseok watching Jibeom.

"We think he has Hypotonia, which is basically means his muscles are weaker than the average hybrid. He also had a small seizure when we first brought him here. He's not able to move much so we might keep him in here and bottlefeed him for a couple days so we can do an EEG on him and monitor him for epilepsy." Hoseok felt like he was gonna cry. This poor little pup is already having life shit on him. He nodded at the clinician, wiping a stray tear from his eye and silently praying for this pup's wellbeing.

It was dark out when Jin woke up, and once his memory came flooding back, the first thing he did was look around the kennel for his new pups. He couldn't find them anywhere, anxiety creeping up on him and making the omega feel nauseous. He turned to find Namjoon sleeping near him, and he felt like Namjoon did this, that he did something to his pups, so he lunged for him.

Hoseok had been microwaving popcorn when he heard a loud scream and banging coming from the kennel area. He quickly forgot about the buttery food and sprinted into the room. He found Jin attacking Namjoon, pinning the larger male to the ground by his throat and scratching at his face and body. Namjoon didn't look like he wanted to fight back, maybe because it was his mate and he didn't want to hurt him right after he birthed their pups, Hoseok guesses, but now it was becoming more and more dangerous not to when he was forcing him to submit on his back and sinking his teeth into the alpha's shoulder. Namjoon snarled, grabbing Jin's arm and twisting it until the omega began to cry out, then using it to his advantage to flip their positions with Namjoon on top. Namjoon forcefully pushed and pulled at Jin until he was presenting, then shoved his hardened cock into Jin's slick hole. Jin screeched, tears falling down his face as he tried to crawl away.

This wasn't a normal breeding session, this was a power fuck. It was only used to assert dominance, and wasn't really for pleasure. Namjoon gripped Jin's hips, a loud clapping sound echoing through the air as he roughly fucked his own mate. Jin was quietly crying now, tongue hanging out of his open mouth as he took everything his mate gave him, silent huffs of pain occasionally leaving him. Hoseok knew he wouldn't be able to separate them, mainly because Namjoon hurting his partner meant that he would absolutely fling Hoseok around like a ragdoll and not even bat an eye. He felt bad for the pair; Jin obviously not in the state for this after just giving birth and Namjoon bleeding from all the scratches and bites littering his body.

He wondered what had happened to set Jin off. Maybe it was due to the pups. Maternal instincts are tripled for hybrids, so Jin might have attacked him out of fear for his pups or something. He wonders if the pups are ready to be brought back in, and runs to the clinic to ask them about it.

"Yes, they're ready now. The third one will be staying here, though."

"That's fine."

He picked up Kai, the clinician picked up Jisoo, and they headed off in the direction of the kennels. When they got to the kennel, Jin was in his nest trying to scoop Namjoon's cum out of himself, but froze when he saw the pups. He sniffed the air and whined, and the pups probably smelling their moms milk too began to cry out. Hoseok was like a one act clown show trying to open the door to the kennel with one hand, but he managed it in the end, Jin racing over to gently take his pups back from them. He went back to his nest, placing the newborns in it and laying down on his side so that they could both feed. They both shuffled over to Jin and latched, Jin almost purring in content. Hoseok only noticed that Namjoon was now at the opposite end of the kennel when the wolf sniffed. Namjoon seemed to want to go over and meet the pups, but the second he moved a bit closer Jin glared at him. Hoseok remembers that hybrids are very protective over their young when they're first born, and gets a lead around Namjoon so that he can take him out of the kennel to place him in a different one, but Namjoon wouldn't budge.

"Namjoon, c'mon.." he gave the another tug of the lead, only to be met with resistance. Namjoon was dead weight now that he had his muscles back, so Hoseok was no match. A brief thought flickered in Hoseok's mind that maybe he should get backup, but one look at Jin made he realize that the omega didn't mind Namjoon in there, he just didn't want the alpha near the pups. With a sigh, he grabbed the lead, slipping it off of the alpha's head and wrapping it back up. He placed it on his new tool belt he had recently purchased, leaving the kennel and locking it back up. He thought about tomorrow as he went to lock up and clean up.

Chapter 7: Heats and Hatred

Chapter Text

Yoongi woke up, reaching his arms above his head and releasing a loud yawn. He looked around the dark kennel, wondering why he was awake in the middle of the night. The smell of overpowering honey suddenly hit his nose, and he quickly turned to look at Jimin cuddled up next to him. The omega was sweating and panting, burning up in the outfit he was currently in. It was a long sleeved baby blue onesie that laced up in the back. Yoongi had never understood why humans and domesticated hybrids wore these pieces of cloth, but he had to admit that Jimin looks delectible in all these different revealing outfits.

Yoongi ran a hand along Jimin's bare thigh, a pleased rumble vibrating through his chest as Jimin immediately opened his legs and released a pitiful whine. His fingers danced along Jimin's skin, reaching the inside of his thigh, his own scent spiking as he felt slick coat the digits. The thought of Jimin soaking through the cloth he wore was too much; Yoongi began to tug at the baby blue material, trying to get it off. Jimin slowly reached a hand back, small fingers coming up to unravel the bow at the bottom of the tied lace, and he then slipped out of the outfit.

Once the clothing was out of the way, the poodle slowly shifted up onto his hands and knees, wagging his ass side to side invitingly and looking back at Yoongi, cheeks flushed and eyes lidded with lust.

"Destroy me.."

Yoongi pounced, digging his nails into Jimin's hips as he sheathed himself inside, bottoming out and taking up a slow but firm pace. The omega let out a melodic moan, gripping the nest underneath him and pushing back into the thrusts.

"Faster alpha~..!"

Yoongi couldn't understand him, but could tell he was uncomfortable, Jimin's squirming and whining giving it away. He sped up and Jimin wailed, his eyes rolling back into his head. The grip Jimin had on the nest loosened and he let go, instead reaching out and grabbing at-

Oh, Taehyung. He was awake. Makes sense, they weren't exactly quiet. The husky's eyes looked blown in the dim lighting, pupils dilated and eyes wide as he watched the two breed. He began to pant and whine, shoving a hand down the black pants he wore and touching himself. Yoongi sniffed the air, liking the mixture of honey and honeysuckle. When he looked down at Taehyung again, he was leaned over, licking into Jimin's mouth and humming contentedly. Jimin was moaning into Taehyung's mouth, trying to move his mouth with equal levels of enthusiasm, though he was slightly distracted by his hole getting pounded. Yoongi watched as Taehyung then stripped down to nothing and inched his way over to the pair, the alpha's inner wolf preening at having two omegas leaking for him, and his knot began to form when he saw Taehyung present to Jimin.

"Jiminie, please take care of TaeTa-Ah~.." Taehyung was cut off by Jimin's tongue sweeping over his slick hole, the poodle pausing to moan loudly, cum shooting onto the floor underneath him as the sensation of the knot popping sends him over the edge. He then shifts his full attention to Taehyung, shoving his tongue past the rim and licking deep inside the husky. Taehyung's vocals carry through the entire kennel area, face scrunched up in pleasure, and when Yoongi's knot deflates, he smoothly slides out and makes his way over to Taehyung, sniffing the omega and running a hand along his back and stopping to grip his tail. Taehyung basically purrs, arching his back a bit more and looking back at Yoongi, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

Hoseok is up early the next morning, looking tired but chipper as he brushes his teeth and gets dressed for the day. He combed his hair around for awhile before finally deciding on something, going for a sideswept kind of hairstyle. He then immediately ran his hands through it, ruining the style a substantial amount, throwing on his shoes and heading downstairs to start the day in the shelter.

It was only about eight in the morning. He liked waking up super early so he could greet all the hybrids and spend some time with them before the rest of the employees came in. He couldn't wait to see their faces, they were so cut-

Hoseok paused in the hallway, the sounds of sex filling his ears and causing him to flush.

'Why are these hybrids always so horny?

Shaking his head and clearing his thoughts, he made his way into the kennel area, his eyes widening as he saw Yoongi shoving his knot into Taehyung, who was laid on his back and busying himself with eating out Jimin. The poodle was sat on Taehyung's face, leaned over and trading messy kisses with Yoongi while the wolf forced his knot past Taehyung's puffy rim, the husky keening into Jimin's hole.

A thought popped into Hoseok's head, and he instinctively turned to look over at the glass kennel that housed Jungkook. He was confused. Weren't Jungkook and Taehyung a thing? He got the answer to his question as he saw Jungkook glaring at the activities going on through the glass. He had never seen the wolf so angry, an amber glow tinting his eyes as he watched everything unfold.

Taehyung stole his attention again when he let out a wail as the knot popped, eyes rolling back into his head as he came all over himself. Jimin had crawled off of him by now, instead resting at Taehyung's side and pinching the other's dusky nipples. Taehyung's chest heaved as he let out a soft moan, coming down from his high. He locked eyes with Jimin, seeming to share one brain with the other as they both leaned in at the same time, lips passionately connecting and their tongues darting out to dance with one anothers. Hoseok really hoped his boner wasn't noticeable through the security cameras, descreetly adjusting himself and walking off into the break room. While he made his breakfast, ate, and cleaned out the kennels, the sexual noises never ceased, and he realized why when he went to clean out the dogs' kennel. Jimin, upon closer inspection, had a red flush to him and was panting and sweating uncontrollably while whining and pawing at Yoongi, slick pouring down his thighs and staining the floor around him. He was displaying all the classic signs of being in heat, and Hoseok was going to have to put him in the playroom with Yoongi until it ended. Luckily all the hybrids were on birth control, which was funded by the shelter, so he could have a heat partner without the worry of pregnancy.

He quickly grabbed two leads from the break room and opened up the kennel, getting a lead around Yoongi who he's starting to think is in rut as well because he also had a flush to him and seemed to be knotting both of the dogs non-stop instead of focusing on just Jimin. Yoongi currently was pulling his deflating knot out of Taehyung, who looked absolutely exhausted, but was smiling, lithe body stretched out like a contented cat with his arms resting above his head. The sheen of sweat that coated his soft body and plastered his curls to his face only made him look even more beautiful. Hoseok got a lead around Jimin easily, and gave both leads a tug as he backed out of the kennel with both of the horny hybrids in tow. Yoongi growled and Jimin whined, but they both followed, and Hoseok thanked his lucky stars that they made the trip so smooth.

After he locked them both in the playroom, he came back to get Taehyung bathed, stopping his actions as he entered the kennel and witnessed the hybrid wincing while shoving his fingers into his own swollen hole, scooping out the cum and eating it. Hoseok quickly averted his gaze, covering his eyes as an extra precaution.

"Taehyung, can you come get a bath instead of doing that, buddy?"

The slurping noises stopped as (Hoseok assumes) Taehyung ceased his self-cleaning, and he heard the hybrid shuffling around. Hoseok slowly uncovered his eyes, only to be met with Taehyung directly in his face.

"Um.."

"Can TaeTae get a treat for bathing? TaeTae doesn't want to bath but wants to be a good boy so can TaeTae get a treat after?" The hybrid's deep voice had a rasp to it, and Hoseok didn't want to know why. Taehyung seemed tired, so Hoseok would make it quick.

"Sure, come get cleaned," Hoseok said with a smile. "Your treat will be in your kennel when you wake up."

The beaming smile that Hoseok recieved in return made butterflies flutter around in his tummy.

Jungkook was seething. How dare Taehyung do that to him? Especially after the passionate night they shared in the Playroom. He would never forget this moment. And if Yoongi is out when Jungkook is? Ohhhohoh he better be ready.

Hoseok was out in the paddock refilling the empty water bottle box when Jungkook was brought out by another staff member, the man barely able to keep his footing as the giant wolf speed walked into the area in primal form. Jungkook seemed to be looking for somebody, sniffing the air and scanning the area with his piercing eyes. His fluffly black tail began to slowly wag as he trotted over to the corner of the paddock, ignoring Hoseok entirely in favor of doing his business.

Great, now Hoseok has to clean that up too.

As Hoseok walked back towards the mess and pulled a doggy bag off his tool belt, Taehyung and Yoongi were brought out.

While he was bent over picking up the mess, a loud snarl sounded in the air.

Hoseok whipped his head around just in time to see Jungkook leap on Yoongi, slamming his body down on the smaller wolf while his guard was down. Yoongi cried out as Jungkook knocked him off his feet and sunk his teeth into his flank, having no time to defend himself from such an attack. Yoongi tried to turn and bite the bigger wolf, but Jungkook was relentless, pinning him down on his side and getting a good bite on his soft underbelly.

Hoseok was shocked, grabbing the walkie talkie on his tool belt and calling for backup. While he waited for them to arrive, Taehyung began howling and barking, trying to break the fight up by distracting the aggressor. Jungkook turned his attention onto the husky, leaping over the fallen wolf and walking towards Taehyung. At first, it looked like the situation would end (semi-)peacefully, until Jungkook's irises lit up, highlighted by a golden hue. Taehyung tucked his tail and ran, Jungkook hot on his heels. A yowl was heard once Jungkook sunk his teeth into Taehyung's ankle, Taehyung squealing out as he tried to pull his hind leg away. Blood coated the grass beneath them and stained Jungkook's maw, Hoseok too stunned to do anything but stand there and watch with his jaw dropped.

Yoongi, who had been laying on his side in submission, slowly got up and charged after Jungkook, biting at his snout and paws and trying to get him to let go. Just then, the door swung open, reinforcements pouring out from the doorway and tranquilized Jungkook. The wolf never let go, only doing so once he succumbed to the drug. Yoongi followed a limping Taehyung back inside when they were escorted in, blood caking Yoongi's flank and underbelly, and Hoseok was left to gape like a fish at nothing.

Jin watches his pups feed, advanced healing doing nothing to stop the deep ache in his body from being forcefully claimed by his mate. Jin honestly didn't feel he deserved that kind of treatment after a night of worry and panic, but he supposes he didn't act very civil either. He casted his gaze down to the end of the kennel, and sees Namjoon curled up in a ball on his side, staring right back at him.

"Jin, I'm sorry." He's said it a million times at this point, but Jin doesn't care. Jin just looks away, gently stroking down Jisoo's back while she feeds.

"Jin, please.." his tone sounds desperate, and it causes Jin's steely composure to crack a bit. The smell of burnt black pepper was filling the air, tingling Jin's nose. He's still not going to look at Namjoon, though.

"What do you want, Namjoon?"

"I'm sorry. You hurt me, I had to assert dominance. It was a challenge when you tried to make me submit, you know that!"

Jin sniffed, turning his nose up haughtily. He then looked down at the pups, seeing them asleep and snuggling with one another, and sighed. After his older pups got taken this morning, he's been on edge about everything. And now that the newer pups are here, he doesn't want them to be taken as well. He snapped at Namjoon because he was scared, but he knows he was wrong for doing so, and it was downright messed up to make his alpha submit. "I know, I'm sorry. I just... really miss the pups. I got scared that these ones would be taken as well."

Namjoon swiftly got up and made his way towards Jin, only stopping once he was close enough to gauge his reaction. "Can I?"

Jin's instincts were telling him no, but he was tired of fighting off his mate when he needed him. "Yes."

Namjoon settled down behind Jin, wrapping an arm around the blonde hybrid and placing chaste kisses along Jin's long neck.

"You don't have to go through things alone, you know? I'm here to love you, protect you, and be with you when you need or want me."

"I know. It's just the instincts.."

"I know. Maybe these humans can help us control them a bit better."

They both meet halfway, gently kissing one another.

"I hope so."

Taehyung felt miserable as he limped back to his kennel after being patched up by the clinicians. Luckily he had Hoseok take him back to his kennel, and the nice man knew to walk slowly so he could keep up. No matter how happy that made him, his ears remained pinned back and his tail remained tucked.

Hoseok walked into the kennel with him, closing the door behind himself and taking a seat next to the forlorn husky. Taehyung had his head lowered, not making eye contact with Hoseok.

"Hey, Tae? Are you okay?" He went to ruffle the hybrid's hair, but Taehyung ducked his head away.

"Do you know why Jungkook attacked you?" Hoseok tried again, even though he had a sneaking suspicion why. Taehyung just shrugged, licking his lips and looking over at one of the corners. "I think I might know.."

This got Taehyung's attention, the husky fixing his wide blue eyes on him. "..Why?"

Hoseok inwardly sobbed at how tiny and fragile his voice sounded, then pressed onward. "I think—and hear me out when I say that this is just a guess—that Jungkook might be jealous..?" He ended it as a question because it was only speculation. Hoseok could've easily read the situation wrong, but he had a niggling feeling that he was right.

"Of what?" Taehyung's big innocent eyes and naive question almost made Hoseok forget how sexually depraved the husky could be. Almost.

"Of you and Yoongi. You remember how you and him were kinda.. yanno.. with Jimin earlier?"

Taehyung just stared.

"Ugh, do I have to say it? Yanno.. breeding. Fucking. Fornicating. There, I said it." Taehyung's eyebrows raised and his lips parted, though not because of Hoseok's blunt words.

"B-but... but TaeTae always had playtime with Jiminie's partners.. Jiminie had playtime with TaeTae's partners too. We share everything, and everyone. TaeTae just wanted to see how a different knot would feel!"

"Oh, well.. that's.. interesting. 'Playtime', you said? Is that what you call that?"

"Yes, our Masters used to make us do playtime with eachother all the time until they found out TaeTae wasn't an alpha. Then they lost interest in TaeTae and brang in random alpha hybrids when Jiminie went into heat, and when our heats began to sync up we secretly shared alphas during playtime. They only wanted to knot Jiminie, but it was still so fun!" Taehyung's tail began to wag at the memories of playtime, and he felt himself slicking up a little bit.

"Oh, okay. Maybe Jungkook just wants you all to himself."

Taehyung crossed his arms and pouted. "Too bad! TaeTae likes to play with others sometimes."

"Welp, you and Jungkook are going to have to talk it out."

"I don't want to talk to him, he's a meanie! He hurt me!" Taehyung looks down and sniffles as he sees his swollen and bruised ankle, the bite mark covered with bloody gauze. The tears begin to fall and Hoseok is there to pull Taehyung close and hold him while he cries. "H-he's.. so.. meann.."

"It's okay, Taehyung.. let it out... I'll talk to him for you, okay?"

Another sniffle. "Okay.... Can we c-cuddle for aw-while..?"

"Sure buddy, sure."

Getting the door to the glass kennel open was no easy feat, especially because Jungkook was leaning up against it. Hoseok knocked on the glass window, trying to get the wolf's attention. For awhile, there was no movement. Jungkook only finally decided to move once Hoseok acted like he was about to leave. An annoyed huff left the hybrid when Hoseok entered the kennel and the wolf turned away, facing the wall enough as to where Hoseok could only see some of his side profile.

"Junggukkie, why are you mad at me??" Hoseok said this with a cartoonish pout on his face, poking his own mouth dimples with his fingers.

"I mad at everyone." Jungkook began organizing the bones in the corner of his room, making it blatantly obvious that he was trying to ignore Hoseok. Hoseok sighs, pulling out a chair near the door and taking a seat on it.

"You know what you did was wrong, right?" Hoseok crossed a one of his legs over the other, raising an eyebrow. He honestly didn't know where to begin, so he picked the easiest situation first. Jungkook at least had the decency to look guilty and a bit sad at his words, pausing his bone assembly. Hoseok watched his tail stop wiggling at the tip, laid out perfectly still and looking like an onyx feather duster. "Taehyung cried."

Jungkook turned to look at him with wide eyes, tears of his own sparking along his lashes. "I not mean to make him cry. I.. am... how you say word...? Jealous."

"I know buddy, but Taehyung said that Jimin and him share and that he isn't gonna change that. Plus, you were his first, so you should be happy about that at least." Jungkook's tail involuntarily wags a bit at that.

"But I no want others on him!" Jungkook was getting visibly frustrated and upset, and Hoseok is going to have to calm him down a bit and maybe get them two to talk it out.

"Hey hey, it's okay Jungkook. You two clearly need to talk this out. Do you want to talk it out with him?" Jungkook looked down at his feet, clearly deep in thought. After a moment, he lifted his gaze back to Hoseok, eyes hard.

"Okay, but I not gonna change mind."

"Please Tae I sorry! You can do what you want!" Taehyung was limping away from Jungkook, crossing through the paddock field and over to Hoseok, gracefully seating himself in the male's lap while Hoseok rested in the patio chair. The husky was pouting and had a fresh set of tears in his eyes, head turned away from Jungkook as to avoid the wolf's pleading stare.

"No, go away! You hurt TaeTae!"

So here's what happened; Hoseok had brought the two out to the paddock to talk, Jungkook before Taehyung. The minute Jungkook saw what he had done to the hybrid, his resolve had crumbled and he had immediately apologized profusely and tried to convince Taehyung to forgive him.

Taehyung was not very forgiving.

The husky had yelled at Jungkook and told him why he liked to share and then closed himself off completely, avoiding the wolf when he tried to comfort him.

Now that you're all caught up..

Hoseok gently rubbed behind Taehyung's ears, causing the husky to melt like butter across his lap, head tilted back and resting on Hoseok's shoulder, while Taehyung's back pressed against the male's chest.

"Make him go away hyungie~.." Hoseok looked at Taehyung, surprise written all over his face. He had never heard the hybrid use honorifics. After a second of stunned silence, Hoseok thinks that maybe he saves them for when he really wants something. Hybrids don't necessarily HAVE to use honorifics; some owners make them and some owners don't, it all depends. Since Taehyung is using them now, though, he's gonna have to take Jungkook away because Taehyung is clearly uncomfortable and desperate enough to use it.

"Okay, Taehyung, do you you want to go inside or do you want Jungkook to go inside?"

"TaeTae wants to go inside."

"Okay."

Hoseok patted Taehyung's thigh to get the husky up, rising from the chair once he stood and taking the husky in, coming back out afterwards so he could stay with Jungkook. The wolf was sat on top of the hill, shoulders hunched. He hadn't even turned into his primal form, which was odd. He looked.. small.. like this. Definitely didn't look like the same apex predator that took him down in the alleyway, that's for sure.

"Jungkook..?"

Silence.

Hoseok sighed, sitting back down on the patio chair by the door and staring at Jungkook.

After what felt like days, but was only a couple of hours, Jungkook walked down the gentle slope of the hill and approached Hoseok, sitting down by the male's feet with his back facing him.

"He hates me now." The wind carried Jungkook's voice out to the paddock as he idly picked dirt and stones off his bare feet. "I finally find mate, 'nd he hates me. Lonely. I was lonely by myself. Years alone and it was for nothing."

Hoseok is getting more surprises than he did on his birthday. He swore he could hear the cogs in Jungkook's brain turning while the wolf tried to use all his mental power to form the sentences. That tutor is really paying off.

After moments of silence, Hoseok realizes he hadn't replied yet. "Oh! Jungkook, don't give up already. He's just understandably upset. You did take a chunk out of his ankle, after all, and not for a solid reason either."

"Un..derstan..dabl..yy?"

"Yes, understandably. As in I see why he's sad. Don't you? Don't you think you went crazy over nothing? Nothing serious, anyway.."

A pause. "..Yes."

"Well, that's good. At least you understand that you messed up."

"Now what do?"

"We wait. We wait for him to forgive you, if he ever does."

Jungkook stayed outside until the sun fell and the stars twinkled in the sky, shifting to his primal form once another staff member went inside and he was alone.

Suddenly he felt it...

A stirring.

Chapter 8: The End of an Era

Chapter Text

Taehyung was up early the next morning, awoken by Jimin frantically cleaning his ears and mumbling under his breath.

"..kill him.. I swear to God I will.. just wait till I-"

"Jiminie?" He felt the tongue and fingers on his ears momentarily pause, before resuming their cleaning.

"Hi Taehyungie. How are you feeling? Are you in pain? I can get the clinicians.."

"TaeTae is fine," he lied, feeling a pain shoot up his ankle. "Why are you so scared and angry, Jiminie?"

"Uhhh... No reason.." Taehyung just stared at him with his big ol' puppy eyes, obviously waiting for him to tell the truth. "Fine, it's because of Jungkook. I told you not to settle with the first alpha you like, Taehyung! Alphas are knotheaded fools who just use omegas to get what they want. He's probably just using you for sex or something. It's so obvious. Alphas like him can't have feelings for anyone but themselves."

"But he was so sweet to TaeTae until he bit TaeTae.."

"Yeah, that's how they lure you in, Taehyung. They act all nice, and the minute you get comfortable and fall in love they show their true selves!"

"So.. Yoongi is like that?"

"Yes-..Wait, what? No! He's one of a kind. He would never bite me like that.."

"Well Jungkookie has been on his own for so long. Maybe he doesn't know how to behave well yet.." Taehyung felt like he had a solid point, until Jimin bursted out laughing at what he said, causing Taehyung to sheepishly look down and nibble on his bottom lip.

"He is a fully-grown hybrid who has been attuned to human and hybrid behaviors from scavenging. He knows how a hybrid is supposed to act. He just chooses to ignore it."

The door to the kennel opened, effectively ending their conversation. They both looked over to see one of the female staff coming in, holding two leads.

"Ready to go outside, guys?"

They both nodded.

The minute Taehyung stepped outside, he knew something was very wrong. He could smell Jungkook, but couldn't see him. The scent of gunpowder was overpowering, and he felt himself get a little weak and a little wet as the arousing smell hit him, scanning the field for any signs of him. Once the lead was removed from around his neck, he limped away down the field, stopping once he reached the top of the small hill off to the right side, looking down and seeing Jungkook at the bottom. He was laid down on his back in his hybrid form, eyes shut and brows furrowed as his hand moved swiftly over his length. His shaft and tip were an angry red, matching the flush that had his face and body looking pinkish.

What Taehyung failed to realize is that Jimin could smell Jungkook too, and followed Taehyung over. The minute Jimin spotted Jungkook, he lunged at him, not caring if the male was naked or in rut. At first, Jimin got a few good punches and scratches in since he took Jungkook by surprise, but once Jungkook locked eyes with Jimin, a crazed look on his face, the energy shifted quickly.

Jungkook gripped him by the throat with one hand, Jimin's face turning a dusty shade of pink as he struggled to breathe. As he wheezed and struggled for air, he clawed Jungkook's hand, the wolf remaining unaffected even when Jimin broke through skin. Just when Taehyung thought Jimin would die, Jungkook flung him off, the poodle landing hard due to the lack of oxygen. Jimin was gasping for air, trying to get up from the position he was in on all fours, but Jungkook was having none of it. The wolf put his hand around the back of Jimin's neck, shoving his face down into the grass and using the other hand to rip off his clothing.

Taehyung did nothing, just stood there uselessly, frozen in fear as Jungkook forced his length inside Jimin, the poodle screaming until his face reddened at the thick cock forcing its way in his barely wet hole. Jungkook wasted no time, thrusting into the shaking hybrid. Jimin began to struggle after awhile, the pain subsiding a bit and allowing him to gather his strength. He kicked out hard, the heel of his foot connecting with Jungkook's thigh. The wolf, running on adrenaline from his rut, only snarled, leaning over to bite down on one Jimin's fluffy poodle ears as a warning and continuing to forcefully claim Jimin.

Taehyung snapped out of whatever daze he was in, hobbling back to the top of the hill and looking for any staff members that were outside. There were none, so he made his way through the paddock and over to the door, frantically banging on the solid metal. He peered through the small window on the top of the door, seeing nobody. He then whipped his head around as he heard another snarl, Jimin running over the hill and beginning his descent towards the door as well, only to be chased and tackled by Jungkook once more. Jimin seemed to land hard on his shoulder, but continued fighting, both of them rolling down the hill as they tussled. Jimin landed on top of Jungkook, straddling the bigger hybrid and tried to scratch at his face and throat. Since he was distracted with that, Jungkook quickly gripped his hips, lifted him up a bit and slammed his entire length back into Jimin at once, heavy balls slapping against Jimin's ass as he began thrusting at an insane pace. Jimin threw his head back and screamed, a blush settling on his cheeks as he slammed his hands down on Jungkook's chest for balance, sinking his nails into his pectorals. Jimin didn't seem to be fighting much anymore, and the sight of them two together made something.. twinge.. in Taehyung's chest, his features hardening into a pout. He crossed his arms, biting at his bottom lip as he thought about what to do.

An idea suddenly popped up.

After knocking on the door once more and getting no response, Taehyung hesitantly looked over at Jimin and Jungkook, before slowly reaching for the bottom of his shirt and pulling it off, stripping out of his pants as well and approaching the pair. They seemed to be in their own world, Jungkook having flipped their positions so that Jimin was underneath him, still holding his throat and occasionally leaning down to nip at it in warning. Jimin was running his hands up and down Jungkook's torso, starting at the wolf's sturdy pecs and slowly grazing his nails over his nipples and down to his prominent six pack, eyes lidded and full lips parted as he released quiet, choked-off whimpers.

He looked absolutely beautiful, and Taehyung didn't like it.

Once Taehyung got close enough, the husky got on his hands and knees.

"Jungkookie~.."

No response.

"Jungkookie, please~.."

Jungkook had no reaction, but his scent spiked, and he continued to thrust into Jimin. Jimin was looking at Taehyung now, but appeared to be extremely out of it, and his eyes rolled back a second later as he came, ropes shooting up and painting Jimin's and Jungkook's torsos. Taehyung instinctively leaned down, tongue sweeping along Jimin's skin as he cleaned all the cum off. He looked back at Jungkook, and they locked eyes, the wolf's eyes dialating as he watched. Taehyung felt slick begin to dribble down, coating his ass and thighs, and he whined needily at Jungkook, knowing the smell was affecting him already.  The wolf quickly pulled out of Jimin, manhandling Taehyung over so that he was on top of Jimin on all fours and shoving his length into him all at once. The husky howled, tucking his face into Jimin's neck and letting Jungkook claim him.

"Uhnnnn~.. More Jungkookie~.." Jungkook gripped Taehyung's hips, pounding into him and causing Taehyung to cry out, drool dripping onto Jimin's chest. He could feel the wolf's knot begin to expand, and Taehyung moaned, nibbling on Jimin's scent gland and causing the worn-out hybrid to shudder. Once the knot popped, he came hard, blacking out for a second.

He could feel Jungkook running a hand along his body when he regained consciousness, and he tilted his head up to lick into Jimin's mouth and nibble along the poodle's chin. He could smell his honey scent beginning to sour, and when he looked at Jimin he could see why. He was glaring at Jungkook, a low growl beginning to vibrate through his chest.

He saw Hoseok open the door, looking around before spotting the trio. His eyes widened comically, and he glanced back into the shelter and then back at them as if in denial of what he was seeing.

-

Hoseok has needed enough eyebleach for 3 lifetimes ever since he started working in this unit, and today is no different. After separating Jimin from the other (very sticky) hybrids, he got him back into his own kennel and waited for the knot to deflate before putting the ither two in their own kennels as well. He's glad that Jungkook and Taehyung made up, but judging by the bruises on Jimin and Jungkook, their relationship has gotten worse. Hoseok is starting to think that maybe he should actually ask for Taehyung to move into Jungkook's kennel, since he assumes that's who they were fighting over. Yes, Jimin will still worry about Taehyung and vice versa, but they will learn independence and not rely on eachother so heavily.

He decided to give his boss a call while seated in the breakroom, finally making his mind up about the whole situation. After two or three rings, the boss answered, voice gruff as always.

"Hello Seunghyun-ssi, I'm calling about Jungkook and Taehyung."

"Yes, what about them?"

"Well I... um. Hyung-nim it's just that Jungkook and Taehyung get along really well and Jungkook and Jimin don't. I think Taehyung and Jimin have become too dependent on eachother and it's causing a lot of fights and I feel it would be best to transfer Taehyung to Jungkook's kennel."

Silence.

"Um... Seu-"

"Fine. But if anything goes wrong-.."

"I know, sir. Thank you. Bye."

He quickly hung up, clutching the phone to his chest as he did a silent celebration. Hoseok really believes that his boss is starting to like and trust him again. After eating a snack, Hoseok walks to the dog's kennel, seeing Jimin sitting at an odd angle and remaining extremely stiff, his eyes closed. Yoongi looked absolutely murderous, growling at nothing while he sat next to Jimin and cleaned his ears. Taehyung was busy staring longingly at the glass kennel, tail thumping against the ground.

"Um... Taehyung." The husky perked up, looking over at Hoseok with a bright smile on his face.

"Hi Hoseok! Yes?"

"Come with me."

"Okay!"

They both left the kennel together, walking down the lone of kennels to get to Jungkook's. Even though Taehyung was walking dutifully beside Hoseok, he still put a lead around Taehyung's neck as a precaution. Once they stopped outside of Jungkook's kennel, Taehyung lit up like a kid getting a unicorn for Christmas.

"OHMYGOD DID YOU REALLY TRANSFER ME!? TAETAE IS SO HAPPY! THANK YOU SO MUCH HYUNGIE!" Taehyung flung himself at Hoseok and wrapped him up in a big hug, nearly knocking him over. Hoseok didn't mind though, and he laughed as he gave him a hug back. "No problem."

After the hugging stopped, he used a key to open Jungkook's door, and removed the lead from around Taehyung's neck just in time. The husky went barreling towards the wolf, who was laid out on his back on the floor and seemed to be passed out from exhaustion. He looked pretty sweaty and pink in the face, and Hoseok didn't know if that was his rut that he's clearly going through or that maybe he was just wrung out from having sex with two hybrids for god knows how long. Taehyung collapsed on top of Jungkook, who startled awake with a growl, only to go quiet when he realized he was face to face with Taehyung. They started passionately making out, Jungkook grabbing Taehyung's hips and pulling him onto his lap as he trailed wet kisses down his neck, sucking on his scent gland. Taehyung bared his neck to the wolf and moaned loudly, his hands coming to rest on Jungkook's toned shoulders.

Hoseok was happy for them, and a warm smile graced his lips before he turned and left. He made his way back to the breakfast area, stopping at the dog's kennel when he saw Jimin climb onto Yoongi's lap. His eyes went wide as he noticed quite a bit blood on the ground and on Jimin's ass and thighs.

"Goddamnit.." he mumbled under his breath, quickly opening the kennel door and grabbing a lead from his toolbelt. "Jimin, why didn't you tell me you were in pain and bleeding? What happened?"

Jimin tucked his face into Yoongi's neck, shrugging. "I didn't feel like talking..."

"Jimin, if you're in pain you have to tell someone." This sudden change of personality was highly alarming to Hoseok. The Jimin he knew would've screamed to high heaven if someone were to hurt him. At least, he thinks so..

Thinking back on when Jimin was attacked before, he realized that Jimin doesn't really do much when hurt. Or say much. When Namjoon bit him on the mouth, Jimin cried out at first, but then went silent. The only time he makes noise is while he's getting hurt. Then he just suffers in silence. Hoseok thinks that's kinda sad. Maybe he's gotten too used to being the backbone for Taehyung and carries all his issues quietly. Hoseok definitely needs to get Jimin to work on that with him.

Hoseok snapped out of his thoughts and slowly approached the pair.

"Suga, can I help Jiminie out?" Yoongi seemed extremely hostile, instinctively holding Jimin closer. But after a second of silence where Hoseok was deciding whether to get bit while trying to get a lead on or call for backup, Yoongi seemed to understand what Hoseok was trying to do and released Jimin, staring straight into the male's eyes the whole time. He knew it was a warning, a "You better help him heal" especially so when he heard a quiet growl leave Yoongi. Hoseok took Jimin's hand and helped Jimin up while the poodle just stared at the floor blankly. A chill ran down Hoseok's spine as he stared at Jimin. He never saw the hybrid look so dead inside. Hoseok had a hunch about what happened, but didn't know for sure, and vowed to get the whole story out from Jimin, Taehyung, and/or Jungkook.

He lead Jimin to the clinic, taking his time so that the hobbling hybrid didn't hurt himself further, and he watched as Jimin perked up as they walked past Jungkook's glass kennel. He was sleeping on the floor with Taehyung laid out on his chest, his knot connecting the two together. Jimin's eyes flashed with something so dark, so evil as he looked at the pair, that Hoseok stopped for a second and blinked to see if he was hallucinating. But after he blinked, the look was gone and Jimin was staring blankly ahead again. Hoseok shrugged and kept walking, and they arrived at the clinic.

After dropping Jimin off (and giving him a kiss on the forehead and a scratch behind the ears), he made his way over to Jungkook and Taehyung's kennel, knowing that they're gonna have to talk since Jimin won't. When he entered, Taehyung woke up, tail wagging as he stared at Hoseok with a smile on his face. Hoseok wondered how Taehyung could be smiling when Jimin is hurt, but then again hybrids don't think like humans do so he has no clue what goes on in Taehyung's head. Also, he still doesn't know the full story.

"Hey Taehyung."

"Hi hyungie!" He's noticed that Taehyung really likes calling him that for some reason, but Hoseok doesn't mind.

"I uh... I wanted to talk about what happened to Jimin." Taehyung's smile fell from his face and he nervously started licking his lips, avoiding Hoseok's gaze.

"Taehyung."

...

"Taehyung."

...

"TAEHYUNG!"

The hybrid jumped, and it also woke up Jungkook, who once again awoke with a snarl before realizing what was happening. Jungkook scooted Taehyung off of himself and stared at Hoseok with big sparkly innocent eyes.

"No no no, those eyes won't work on me this time. What happened to Jimin." He looked from Jungkook, who decided he suddenly can't understand Korean, to Taehyung, who had tears in his eyes and was biting his bottom lip.

"Taehyung..." Hoseok softened his voice, not meaning to upset the husky. "I just need to know what happened so I can help Jimin. I didn't mean to scare you." Taehyung then sniffled and looked at Jungkook warily, who was staring blankly at the wall behind Hoseok and zoning out.

"Ummm... please don't be mad! TaeTae tried to get help but nobody answered the door!"

"I won't, now can you tell me what happened?"

"Uh.. TaeTae was.. let outside with Jiminie and TaeTae could smell Jungkook in rut so I went over the hill to see where he was and TaeTae found him but so did Jiminie and Jiminie attacked Jungkook and Jungkook choked Jiminie and then he...he..." Taehyung looked over at Jungkook again, who was staring at Taehyung's mouth like he wanted to kiss it. "He.. um.. grabbed Jiminie and pinned him down and hurt him. Like dominated him. And then Taetae used his body as a distraction after nobody answered but by then Jiminie was hurt. And after we went in TaeTae tried to talk to Jiminie but he wouldn't talk to TaeTae."

"Hm.." Hoseok was glaring at Jungkook, who was completely tuning out the conversation. "Jungkook."

Jungkook looked at Hoseok with a calm expression.

"Why did you hurt Jimin."

Jungkook shrugged. "Jimin hurt me first."

"So you forcefully claim him? What is wrong with you!? You need to learn how to behave! I had hope for you that you were a bit smarter than most ferals, but clearly I was wrong."

Jungkook's ears pinned back and a low rumble filled the room. Hoseok was disappointed that he thought it was a threat instead of actually listening, but a wild wolf will always be a wild wolf at the end of the day. With a shake of the head, he rose to his feet and left.

That night Hoseok was called into his bosses office, the stern looking male giving Hoseok a dark look as he asked him to take a seat.

"So, Hoseok. It has come to my attention that two hybrids were let outside earlier today, correct?"

"Uhm, yes sir."

"And you were the last person to be out with them when something went wrong, correct?"

"Uh, yes but-"

Seunghyun held a finger up. "Did you or did you not leave Jungkook out overnight?"

"I didn't! I didn't even let Taehyung and Jimin out there!"

"Well, two staff members told me that you did indeed let all three of them out."

"Well they're lying!"

"Listen Hoseok," Seunghyun began, folding his fingers like he usually does. "You've done a lot of stupid things. Made a lot of mistakes since you started working here and I let it slide. Why? Cause you're the hardest working employee here. But when not one, but TWO staff members come up and accuse you of something after your string of mishaps lately? Well I have no choice but to believe them."

Hoseok felt heartbroken. Why wasn't he listening? "Check the cameras then!"

"The surveillance cameras have been down for the past few days. They need updated and we need to get a technician in here to update them."

Hoseok is screwed. He tried to think of another solution when Seunghyun leaned in, locking eyes with him.

"Hoseok, you're fired."

Chapter 9: Movin' On Out

Chapter Text

Packing up everything from the room was a swift process, mainly due to the fact that he barely had any clothes and items in the apartment to begin with. The only thing that made it worse was that his apartment was a floor above the hybrid shelter, so he had to walk downstairs and past the hybrids to get out. Hoseok thought he might as well say goodbye to each individual hybrid.

It was tough, saying goodbye to all of them.

When he entered the glass kennel, Jungkook held him close and wouldn't let him go for about 20 minutes. Taehyung cried and also wouldn't let him go. Then when he got to Jimin and Yoongi's kennel, Yoongi didn't understand he was leaving. He clearly could sense a shift in emotions, though, because he immediately climbed into Hoseok's lap the minute he sat down and began cuddling up to him. Jimin looked sad for about half a second before closing off his feelings and saying something snarky. When he made it to the last kennel, Jin and Namjoon just kinda stared at him with concerned looks, probably because Hoseok was visibly upset, his soft sobs easily being picked up by their sensitive ears. Upon opening his mouth, Hoseok went on a long rant about how they were his first hybrids in this section and that he'll miss them. They didn't understand what he said, but Hoseok swore he saw something fond and sad in their eyes when he left.

The drive to his eomma's house was a rollercoaster of emotions, Hoseok blasting sad song after sad song and belting out the lyrics as he sped down the highway, putting every bit of his emotions into each word. When Hoseok arrived, he looked like he caught a fever, his black hair splayed out every which way like a bird's nest, face blotchy and red, and tears and snot trickling down his face. His eomma came out to greet him, embracing the sad male and cooing at him, running her fingers through his hair as she reassured Hoseok that everything would be okay, which made him cry like 20 times harder. She brought Hoseok inside, and once he kicked off his shoes by the door, they sat down and had some jjapaguri that she had prepared for when he arrived. While petting his eomma's Great Dane Moxy, who was laying on the floor, and sniveling over a bowl of the delicious food, Hoseok explained what had happened.

"And they just kicked you out without listening?" His eomma looked confused and concerned, reaching a hand over the table to grab his reassuringly.

"HE fired me eomma, not they. And yes. It made no sense, I worked hard and did what I had to do. Sure I made mistakes but I thought he was starting to forgive me for them." Hoseok didn't even look up at her while he spoke, too upset and embarrassed to meet her gaze. He felt like a failure.

"Hoseok, look at me. You did nothing wrong in this situation, sweetie. I think your boss needs a reality check about what goes on behind his back at that center. Clearly these people aren't fit to work with hybrids, or any animal. We should get that place shut down!"

"Eomma... it's not that serious." His sharp glare was aimed at her, but then softened. "It's not like anyone will believe me anyways, and we'd struggle to go up against a normal shelter, nevermind a popular one! We might be well off eomma, but they have way more money than we ever could, which means that they could bury the accusations and taks us to court for defamation on top of that!"

"Hmmm.. I'm sure these workers have done something damning at the shelter before, and I'm sure there's surveillance around the building. Am I right? Is there surveillance?"

"Yeah, but how would I even get the footage off the cameras, eomma," Hoseok mumbled as he stared at his untouched food, feeling utterly hopeless. He began eating so that the food didn't get cold, listening to his eomma rattle off suggestions as he slurped the soft noodles. In between a pause, he spoke again. "It's not an easily accessible room. How would I even get back in there in the first place without my bos- my ex-boss or a staff member kicking me to the curb?"

They both sat in silence for awhile and thought, until Hoseok suddenly jolted up, back straight and posture stiff as his eyes lit up.

"Jackson."

While laying in bed that night, Hoseok texted Jackson his plan.

◇◇◇◇◇♤◇◇◇◇◇

Jackson woke up at the asscrack of dawn and drove straight to work, shoveling cereal in his mouth while he drove. He didn't quite understand why Hoseok wanted him of all people to do this, but then again Jackson has never seen Hoseok interact with any of the other staff nearly as much as him.

Once he parked his vehicle, Jackson pulled out his phone and called Hoseok, eyes nervously darting around the barren parking lot he was currently sitting in. After a couple of rings, Hoseok picked up.

"...Hello?" Hoseok's voice sounded deep and groggy, and once Jackson switched the phone call to a video call he could see the male rubbing his eyes, hair sticking up in every direction.

"Hoseok, you wanted me to do this, so why aren't you already awake and waiting for me to call?"

"M'bad, had trouble sleeping last night."

"..It's fine, I guess. Now how are we gonna do this. I forgot that they don't let you in the surveillance room without a reason." Jackson nervously bit his nails as his thoughts trailed off, only to bounce back to alertness when Hoseok called his name.

"Jackson! Listen to me. I want you to say that you need to use the cameras to see where you dropped your wallet. Simple enough. They won't suspect anything."

"Okay... okay.. I'm gonna turn the volume of the call down now so they don't hear you on the phone." Jackson did just that once he got an affirmative from Hoseok, pressing the button on the side of his phone and lowering the volume down to the lowest setting. He then got out of the car, making his way to the front door for Section D and entering. He saw Min-ah, one of the staff members, sitting at the table in the break room eating a hot pocket.

"Um... Min-Ah.. what're you doing here? Not that I mind! It's just... weren't you stationed in Section A?"

Min-Ah perked up, turning to face him with a big smile. "Yeah! Seunghyun-ssi relocated me to here, though. Permanently. I already helped out here from time to time, so I don't mind the change."

Jackson gritted his teeth, but smiled at her, then swiftly leaving the room. He veered right, walking down the rows of kennels and entering the hallway. Since he had awoken early, all Jackson could hear was his footsteps echoing off the linoleum floors, the silence deafening as he made his way towards the surveillance room. Just as he went for the keys on his belt to open the door, it swung open, revealing a very tired looking guard.

"What are you doing here?" Jackson opened his mouth to answer, eyes wide in fear, when the guard spoke again.

"Are you here to cover me? Thank God! I've been in this hellhole all night and we ran out of goddamn creamer, so I couldn't even keep myself fucking energized. I'm about to pass out, so please, take my spot." The guard stepped aside to make room for Jackson, holding the door open for him. After a moment of trying to process what the fuck just happened, Jackson quickly bowed as a thank you and swiftly made his way into the room. Once the door was closed, he pulled out the phone and turned the volume up.

"I'm in. Now what?"

"Okay, so you see that rewind button in the corner of the screen? I want you to rewind it and stop everytime you think you see something suspicious." Jackson gazed up at the monitor, looking at the 6 different split-screens displayed. He saw the break room, kennel area, washroom, clinic, and playroom. His eyes widened as he saw that the hallway also had a camera. Jackson rushed to rewind the footage, stopping it around when he came into the hallway, only to breathe a sigh of relied when he saw that his face couldn't really be made out from that distance due to how grainy the footage was and he turned too quickly to be recognized. He then began rewinding the footage even further back, stopping once he got to two days before. Squinting, he tried in vain to get a closer look at camera 2. It was positioned to hang above the doorway to the hallway, which meant you could see all the kennels on either side. Since it was one of those 360 surveillance cameras he was able to see in every direction, and spotted a female worker going into Jungkook's kennel, which was odd considering the fact that it was around the time all the other hybrids went out to play. Usually Jungkook rested in that time period, so this worker had no business going into the kennel.

Suddenly, Jungkook's bare back was pressed up against the glass wall, visibly shaking as he tried to move away from the woman who was advancing on him. She seemed to be using a stun gun, something that had been newly implimented as a replacement for the tranquilizer gun, since it was seen as unethical (even though in his opinion that was way more unethical). He told Hoseok that he had to record what he found, ending the call before the male could answer and recording everything. Jackson looked around, finding the volume button for the specific camera and turning it up. Jungkook's loud screeches could be faintly heard, the glass room doing a good job at soundproofing most of the noises he was making. Jackson felt wetness on his cheeks and lifted a hand to wipe it off, realizing he was crying while watching this disturbing footage. When Jungkook collapsed to the ground, presumably unconscious from all of the electric shocks, Jackson ended the recording, pressing the pause button and sitting there in silence for awhile. After the moment of silence, Jackson mentally vowed to bring Jungkook justice, and began searching through more and more to find any identifying features on the woman. Since they all wore the same work clothes and a lot of employees had similar hairstyles, Jackson knew it would be hard to find something that stood out.

But he had to. For these hybrids.

◇◇◇♤◇◆◇♤◇◇◇

Hoseok had been nervous for the past few hours. Ever since Jackson hung up, he knew that something bad was gonna come to light. The urgency in the male's voice was hard to shake, so Hoseok did the only thing he could think of while he waited...

Make Plan B.

It consisted of him adopting all the hybrids in Section D. He didn't know how he'd do it, but he'd find a way. He knew that those hybrids wouldn't be adopted right away, mainly because they were all unique in one way or another, which raised their prices enough to be quite expensive. Maybe if the shelter was in the city, they would be quickly adopted by wealthy chaebols and socialites that got ahold of the website or walked by the place. But it wasn't. Instead it was tucked away in a more rural area so that the hybrids could have more freedom to run and less stress. The only people located around here were farmers and recluses, which meant that the more inexpensive hybrid breeds in other sections would most likely be adopted first.

Hoseok looked on the website, nearly fainting at the price tags on all of them.

All the wolves were selling for over 14 million won, the dogs were selling for over 7 million won. There was no way he could get all of them. He could probably get both dogs and one wolf at the most. Even that was pushing his finances. "Goddamnit..."

Hoseok would have to get them one by one until he had them all.

Just as his thoughts began to wander into breaking and entering territory, his phone began to chime. He quickly pulled it out, reading 'Jackson' on the screen and answering.

"Hello?"

"Yeah, where do you live?"

"What the-.. Jackson, you can't just ask that."

"It's serious, Hoseok. The issues were way worse than we thought."

◇◇◆◇◇◇◆◇◇

Jackson had a mug of green tea sitting in front of him, eyes wide. He had just arrived from the long drive, looking disheveled and manic when he opened the door.

"You need to see these videos I found. They're pretty bad." He placed his phone on the table and slid it over to Hoseok, who caught it and picked it up with reluctance written all over his face.

In the first clip, he saw a worker enter Jungkook's kennel and electrocute him. Hoseok's jaw dropped as the cries of the poor hybrid rang out, a tear slipping down his face once he saw Jungkook collapse in a heap on the floor.

The next clip was so much worse. It was a rough one to watch, but he did. He watched and watched as the same female staff took Jungkook out of his kennel in the dead of night, threatening him with the stun gun shoved up against his neck. The staff lead him out of the side door, where she sat on the lone chair out back and lit a cigarette. Hoseok guessed they must've finally put up another back cam after the incidents, and was about to ask what was wrong with this when Jungkook crawled over to her on his hands and knees and then faced away, exposing his backside to her. She ignored him for awhile, then she...

She stubbed the cigarette out right on his hole.

His scream echoed through the whole paddock, and he fell forward and couldn't catch himself in time, smacking his face off the hard cement he was crouched on. Hoseok saw a pool of darkness form under his face, body limp and unconscious on the ground, most likely from the pain.

Clip after clip of Jungkook getting abused by that one staff member, until he saw a clip of Jungkook in the paddock at night getting raped by one of the male staff while that wicked woman holds a tranq gun to his neck. Hoseok quickly stood up, rushing over to the kitchen sink in time to vomit up everything he had eaten. The thoughts of how happy Jungkook always seemed and how innocent he looked made him continue to vomit until only stomach acid came up. Jackson was there, rubbing a hand along his back and handing Hoseok some paper towels to wipe his face with. Hoseok silently accepted them, wiping up his face as he thought about everything he just saw. The dates... some were months old. In fact, the rape one was when Jungkook was still wearing his cast. The whole time Jungkook acted as if nothing had happened. Had said nothing to Hoseok about it. Had just kept going as if that wasn't extremely fucked up. He had to have known that it wasn't right. Right?

Hoseok's eyes widened as he realized something. That night that Namjoon had power claimed Jin. Power fucking was normal to the hybrids. Jungkook must've thought that the staff was just dominating him to put him in his place. Hoseok quickly leaned over the sink and heaved again, though nothing else came up.

"Are you okay..?" Jackson seemed scared, confused, and equally as disgusted as Hoseok with the whole situation.

"No.. I need to adopt those hybrids now more than ever. We need to come up with a plan. I'll even break them out illegally if I have to."

◇◆◇◇♤◇◇◆◇

It was late in the night by the time they sorted out their plans. His eomma even joined in on the planning. She said that she would buy the other four hybrids on one condition; that she gets to keep one for herself. Since he'd have to stay with his eomma for awhile with the hybrids anyways, until he got back on his feet and found a place to live, he didn't mind that too much. Hoseok showed her all of the hybrids profiles, and she picked Jimin out of all of them, thinking he looked too adorable to not be picked.

With a solid plan now in motion, they purchased all the hybrids that night, Hoseok's heart breaking when he saw that 2 out of 3 of Jin's pups were already bought. The people who buy baby hybrids are ruthless, mainly because baby hybrids are in high demand, especially rare species' of hybrids. It seemed like the one with health issues was the only one unsold, the price tag sitting at a disgustingly low 35 thousand won, whereas the other two sold for 21 million won. He thought that little pup was worth so much more than that, saddened at how cold this world really was. He bought the pup, knowing that he could raise it better than some rando with 35 thousand won just lying around waiting to make an impulsive purchase. After that, the three of them watched documentaries of hybrid care, specifically for wolves, so that they could be situated properly in their new living space and treated well. Jackson left (much to Hoseok and his eomma's reluctance) when they woke him up after catching him dozing on the couch mid-film. Hoseok thanked him for all his help and all he replied with was,

"You owe me. You won't know when, but I'll randomly ask you for a favor." With that, he left.

That night, Hoseok dreamed of his new hybrids, imagining them running and playing and accepting him as their owner.

Chapter 10: Same Hybrids, New Leaf

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

They had set the appointment to "meet" and get the hybrids for next week. Since Hoseok's eomma was paying for more of the hybrids, the whole purchase was under her name with her info. Unfortunately, she had work on the day of the pickup, so he would have to be the one to get them. He grabbed his ID and forms to prove she was his mother and he wasn't some creep that was gonna kidnap the hybrids, just in case his boss needed official documents.

Probably not though.

From arrival to departure, the whole event was chaotic to say the least. First, Hoseok had gotten lost while trying to find his way to the front desk, not used to entering through the front doors of the place. He had always entered around the back in the Section D enterance, even all the way back when he had his first interview. So yeah.. He got lost. He ended up having to ask staff for help, silently cursing the layout of the building while he chatted with a staff member he recognized. Then he saw that none of the hybrids were in their kennels and instead outside playing, which would be fine except that meant Jungkook was outside with everyone else (Namjoon specifically) and he couldn't go get them yet because he was being lead to his old boss to be personally thanked for buying so many hybrids.

Hoseok rolled his eyes at this.

His former boss had a habit of personally thanking anyone who bought more than 2 hybrids over the price of 2.75 million won and giving them a gift card with 2 months worth of hybrid groceries free. Of course people were always so grateful, but Hoseok knew that that was nothing compared to the prices the buyers were paying for the hybrids.

When he was led into his former bosses office, he squared his shoulders, plastering on a nervous smile as he stepped into the small room. His bosses blinding grin dropped once he spun around in his chair to see who had entered.

"Oh, Hoseok. What are you doing here?" He asked this with no emotion, his expression stone cold and hard to read.

"Uhm.. I'm here to pick up the hybrids?" Once Hoseok said this, Seunghyun frowned, the corners of his lips pulling down slightly.

"Is that so? It says Jung Jisun on the adoption forms. You are not Jung Jisun."

"Yes, but I'm her son. That's why I'm here." Hoseok shifted nervously on his feet, analyzing every bit of the room so that he didn't have to look at his former boss.

"Sorry, but I'm gonna need some proof." Hoseok's jaw dropped. He didn't actually think his boss was going to be this difficult.

"S-Sir you know that my mother is named Jisun, I told you th-"

"I know I know, but you need official proof since you aren't the one on the papers. It's the rules." Hoseok could see the little smirk dancing at the corner of the older male's mouth, a quick little thing that disappeared the moment Hoseok began to focus on it. The younger male was glad he was fired, because he had no idea Seunghyun could be this malevolent. It would be one thing if it was a higher ups rules, but he WAS the higher up. The shelter was HIS business and those were HIS rules and the man refused to let it slide.

It made it all the more satisfying when Hoseok reached into his bag he had brought with him and pulled out the correct documents, biting back a smile of his own once he saw the look on Seunghyun's face, watching the poorly concealed smug expression melt away to expose the fire beneath. He looked positively livid, probably due to the fact that the employee he found incompetent was now taking out a whole section of his shelter. Hoseok remembers the rest of the time in that room being a blur, his former boss quickly wrapping up the meeting and explaining that the pups will have to have a checkup and be delivered later on. Seunghyun then led him out to the waiting area at the front of the building.

"Would you like the hybrids sent to you in our employee vans or would you like to leave with them?" His boss had on that unbreakable mask again, leaving no room for emotion.

"I'll take them with me." Hoseok swore he could've heard his boss scoff as he turned away, but he'd never know for sure. As he walked away he waved a hand over his shoulder, aimed at Hoseok.

"They'll be ready in an hour. Do what you must while you wait. Nice seeing you again, Hoseok."

And with that, he was gone.

---------

The hour felt like FOREVER. Hoseok had spent the first 15 minutes in the waiting room, then decided to wait the rest of the time out in his car. He had rang the front desk to let them know where he was, just so they didn't think he got cold feet and ran off. Hoseok had his head down on the steering wheel, scrolling through his phone when there was a knock on his window. He glanced up, only to see Jimin knocking. Hoseok gasped, quickly putting his phone away and looking past Jimin to see two employees idly chatting while all the hybrids were on leads, standing there and staring back at Hoseok. They all held very different expressions. Jimin, Jin, and Namjoon had varying degrees of annoyance on their faces, while Jungkook and Taehyung looked pretty awestruck to be free, gazes flitting from Hoseok to the world around them. Yoongi didn't care at all, just staring blankly at Hoseok. He looked bored.

Hoseok had missed them so much.

Once he helped load them into the caravan, they were off, driving through the countryside to get to his eomma's house. The hybrids were all silent except for Taehyung, who was rambling to Hoseok about all the things he missed while he was gone.

Hoseok looked to his side once he stopped at a stop light. Jimin was in the passenger's seat, picking his nails with a bored expression on his face. The male then looked in the rearview mirror to see the hybrids looking out the windows, Taehyung noticing his excitement and smiling and waving at him.

Hoseok couldn't believe his dream had come true.

When they arrived, his eomma was waiting on the steps. She gave a smile and a wave, whole face lighting up even further as she spotted Jimin in the passenger's seat. Hoseok got out, letting the hybrids in the back out first and then letting Jimin out. He had put childlock on since some hybrids (Jungkook) were unpredictable. His eomma's squeal broke the silence.

"Oh my goodness, he is way more adorable in person! Is he friendly?" Hoseok could tell his eomma wanted to run up and hug Jimin, but didn't know how he'd react. Hoseok put his hand up and wobbled it in a 'so so' gesture. His eomma slowly approached Jimin, who stared at her nervously, watching her with sharp eyes. Then she stopped, lighting up as an idea popped into her head, and Hoseok and the hybrids watched as she made a mad dash back into the house. They all turned to look at him quizzically, Hoseok just shrugging as a response and leading them inside. After entering the house, his eomma came rushing by with a treat in her hand.

Bacon

All the hybrids zeroed in on the treat, but she gave it to Jimin, who smiled at her and let her pet him.

'Progress, I guess.' Hoseok thought.

-----

It took them quite awhile to get comfy, some longer than others. Jimin and Taehyung got comfortable pretty quickly, seeing as they were never stray dogs and always had a roof over their heads. Jungkook took a couple hours to get used to it, telling Hoseok later in the day that he had occasionally found an abandoned house to lay low in but had never been in a house with people.

Jin, Namjoon, and Yoongi were not comfortable at all. Even now, as a movie played on the screen and the 3 younger hybrids were snuggled up to Hoseok watching it with him, Hoseok could hear Jin whimpering upstairs. He had holed himself in one of the 4 bedrooms that were in the house, Namjoon and Yoongi with him and trying to protect him from any unknown dangers as well as soothe him.

He knew Jin was older than all the other hybrids and probably fed up with all the changes in his life. Hoseok felt bad that he had, once again, uprooted Jin's life, but knew that it was better that he knew the person that would be adopting him. It would be disasterous if he would've been adopted by someone else, especially since he seems less and less inclined to open up or show any signs of wanting to be friendly. At this stage, Hoseok thought it best to leave him be and hope he adjusts. If he doesn't, who knows what he might have to do. He might have to give Jin to a wildlife rescue if he can't warm up, and he'd hate to have to give him up.

Hoseok took the big blanket that he was using and covered Jungkook and Taehyung with it, noticing that it was getting cold in the room. They were laid out next to him on the giant couch, Taehyung snuggled into Jungkook's chest and fast asleep while Jungkook was still up, doe eyes looking over at Hoseok, curiosity and deep thought written all throughout his expression.

"Yes, Jungkook?"

Jungkook shook his head, then pointed up at the ceiling.

"What, Jin?"

"His cries make my wolf sad. Make me wanna comfort him."

Hoseok reached over and patted his calf, letting out a sad chuckle. "They make me sad too buddy."

The conversation trickled out, both of them neglecting the movie and its dialogue in favor of listening out for Jin. He was making a weird, high pitched noise over and over again.

"Chirping. Calling for his babies," Jungkook said matter of factly, picking at some stuffing that poked out of the heavy blanket. "He misses them."

Hoseok's heart hurt now that he understood why Jin was so melancholy. He kept forgetting that Jin had had a new litter, the shock from watching him give birth leaving his memory foggy when it came to the event in question. Hoseok wanted to go comfort the wolf, but knew it would only make things worse.

After awhile, the chirping stopped, replaced by quiet whimpers, then nothing. Jin must've fallen asleep. Just at that moment the room went dark as a black screen crept onto the TV, credits popping up a couple seconds later. Hoseok stretched and made a loud weird noise, making Jungkook alert for a second before relaxing once again.

"I'ma go to bed. Night Jungkook."

"Goodnight Hobi."

-----

The next morning was much worse.

Hoseok woke up to loud screams and crashing sounds. Springing up from the bed, he ran out of his bedroom and into the hallway, where he saw Namjoon slam Jungkook up against the wall, arm pressed into the wolf's throat. Jungkook was baring his teeth and trying to pry the arm off, but it wouldn't budge. Taehyung was a few feet away cowering, looking terrified, and his eomma was yelling at Namjoon to let him go. Just as Hoseok stepped forward to try and break it up, Namjoon grabbed the lone wolf by the throat and launched him down the flight of stairs, the sickening thuds echoing as Jungkook tumbled down. Taehyung screamed and ran down the stairs in tears, and Hoseok's eomma was crying as well as she covered her eyes. After quickly making sure his eomma was okay, Hoseok followed Taehyung down the steps to see if Jungkook was hurt, jumping back in fear when he saw how the wolf looked.

He was practically foaming at the mouth, laid out on his back still angry and snarling, but his leg was twisted up really badly, and he didn't move from the ground. Taehyung was cradling his head and holding him close, whimpering and looking at Hoseok for help. For once, the male didn't know what to do. The clinicians from the shelter weren't here, so he'd probably have to take Jungkook to a hybrid vet.

"Jungkook, can you stand?" He watched as the hybrid attempted to move, only to yelp in pain.

"Shit.." Hoseok cursed under his breath, looking around. He might need other hybrids to help lift Jungkook up. He spotted Jimin and Yoongi peeking their heads up over the couch and looking at Jungkook, one with wide eyes and the other looking eerily calm.

"Jimin, Yoongi, can you help me get him up and into the car?"

They both got up off the couch and made their way over, apprehension clear as day on Jimin's face as he wrapped his arms around Jungkook to help lift him. Taehyung backed off and the three of them hoisted him up, the wolf letting out the rawest screams imaginable. It continued all the way to the car, even when Hoseok stopped putting pressure on his broken leg and laid him down in the car. Hoseok was quick, hopping in the driver's seat and driving off at lightning speed.

"Jungkook, are you hurt anywhere else besides your leg?" Hoseok asked this as he stopped at a stop light, looking in the rearview mirror.

After a second of Jungkook just laying there, trembling with sweat gathering on his forehead, he mumbled out, "M' back.."

"Your back is hurting?"

"Fingers...back..leg.. foot..." he huffed out, the waves of pain obvious through his expressions.

"Okay we'll get you to the hospital. We'll be there soon."

A moment of silence, followed by a strained, "..Okay.."

-----
The vet trip was not a fun one, Hoseok watching as they had to check Jungkook's purpling leg and body for any signs of something worse. Turns out he fractured his back, broke his leg, and sprained his ankle and wrist. A finger was broken as well. They had to get him into a couple casts, one for his finger and one for his leg, and they gave Hoseok pain medication and told him to administer the correct amounts to Jungkook throughout the day.

Then, things got even more grim when the vet came out and told Hoseok that Jungkook's healing abilities are becoming weaker. She explained that small injuries are nothing to the healing ability, but he seemed to get seriously hurt a lot, and showed Hoseok an x-ray of Jungkook. He could see that there were a lot of highlighted areas that showed different old breaks and fractures, a lot of them unexplainable.

"I don't recall him getting hurt this much..."

"Well a lot of them are extremely old. How long have you known the hybrid?"

"About 6 months."

"Yeah no," she said with a sad chuckle. "Most of these are from before he knew you. Do you know who he was with before you?"

"He was a lone wolf, scavenging in the streets and the woods."

"Yeah, that explains it. Something bigger must've got him before, or he just got into a lot of scuffles. He's a brave hybrid for going through all of that, but he can't keep getting hurt like this. The nurses wrote down what happened and why he's in here, and I think you need to keep your wolves on separate floors. Wolf hybrids are very territorial creatures, and they run on instinct more than human emotions."

"Okay, I will. Thank you for the help."

"No problem. He's gonna be transported and dropped off in one of our handicap vans so he can heal at home. And again, he won't bounce back as fast. Give it a few weeks to a month."

Hoseok nodded, looking over at Jungkook who was sleeping peacefully, knocked out by all the pain medication.

Poor Jungkook.

---

Since it was a couple hours before Jungkook would be dropped off, Hoseok went home and tidied up the place, clearing a section off in the corner of the living room and getting help from the hybrids. They carried a mattress down from one of the vacant rooms, placing it in that section, as well as propping up pillows so that he could recline at an angle and see the TV. After that was done, Hoseok started making lunch for all the hybrids. Usually his eomma would do it, but she was at work.

When he called out for them to eat, all of them except for Jin and Taehyung came into the room. Namjoon grabbed his and Jin's plates and wandered off back upstairs, Yoongi watching him leave but not following. He was too busy eating with Jimin, who was stealing bits of food off of his plate and smiling innocently as he did so. Yoongi was smiling back, letting him pick from his plate, which was surprising considering that most wolves, especially feral ones, were food aggressive.

Hoseok smiled as he watched them act all cutesy, then stood up and grabbed Tae's plate, looking for him around the house. He eventually found him sitting in the backyard on the swinging bench, looking wistfully past the large clearing of grass off into the trees.

"..Tae?"

Nothing.

"Do you want your food?"

Taehyung slowly shook his head, still staring at nothing.

Hoseok released a sigh, setting the plate down on the outdoor table and taking a seat next to him. After awhile of silence, he spoke up.

"Are you okay..?"

Taehyung turned to face him, his curls falling into his face to partially cover one of his bright blue eyes as the moonlight bathed one side of his face in a pale glow. A tear tracked down his cheek.

"No.. I'm scared of Namjoon. He's really mean. What if they hurt Kookie again? What if they hurt me next? Just because I'm associated with Jungkook?" Taehyung spoke in a small wavering voice, looking down a his lap and twiddling his fingers midway through his words.

Hoseok was shocked that Taehyung could even speak in first person, so used to him speaking in third person. He was clearly terrified, so Hoseok quickly quelled his astonishment to try and comfort the dog. "That won't happen. I promise."

Taehyung just looked at him, disbelief written all over his face.

"Look. I may not have been up in time to stop whatever happened from escalating, but I am here now, and I will never leave you guys alone. I'm gonna make sure I'm the first one to wake up every morning, so that I can deescalate things before they can even begin to get out of hand. Also you, Jimin, and Jungkook will be staying on the ground floor, and Jin, Namjoon and Yoongi can stay up there."

"But Jimin will miss Yoongi. Plus he doesn't cause any problems."

"I know, but Jungkook might do/say something to set him off. It's better that way."

"I guess.." Taehyung mumbled, picking his nails.

---

The handicapped van dropped Jungkook off at the house at around 7:30PM, the hospital workers making quick work of getting him inside and onto the mattress they had laid down. Taehyung was overjoyed that he was back, immediately cuddling up to the drugged up Jungkook, who just sniffed at Taehyung's neck, snuggled his face into it, and fell back asleep. Jimin was pouting, arms crossed as he watched the lovey display. Hoseok didn't know if he was mad at Jungkook or at them being coupley when Yoongi was forced upstairs.

Probably both.

When Jimin stomped away to sulk in the corner, Hoseok turned his attention back to Taehyung and Jungkook, only to find Jungkook sleepily mouthing at the husky's neck. Taehyung had his head tilted to the side, shudders running through him as his mating gland was stimulated, tail thumping against the mattress. Taehyung then gripped the waistband of his pants, preparing to take them down. Hoseok's eyes widened and he quickly walked over to them to interfere.

"No. Bad. We don't do things like that when Jungkook is hurt. You could hurt him more by doing stuff with him." Taehyung looked at Hoseok, eyes widening as he heard the male's words. He then whimpered, distancing himself from the horny sleepy wolf. Jungkook went back to just laying there, looking pretty content no matter what happened. Taehyung then slowly got up and left, leaving a worried Hoseok (and an unbothered Jungkook) to wonder where he had gone. Just as Hoseok went to get up though, Taehyung returned, sitting next to Jungkook on the mattress with his legs crossed. He revealed that he was holding a brush, and began brushing through the tired wolf's hair, humming a gentle tune. Jungkook was out like a light in seconds, falling into a deep slumber, and Taehyung looked up at Hoseok with a big grin plastered on his face.

"Taetae loves him so much."

Chapter Text

Over the next few days, Hoseok had to adjust to Jungkook's needs, having to get up regularly throughout the night and give out morphine when Jungkook would wake up and cry out from the pain wracking his body. He felt bad for Jungkook, he really did, but Hoseok needed his sleep. Jungkook's body seemed to burn through the morphine much faster than a humans, which made him wake up every 3 hours and need more morphine. What motivated him to get up every 3 hours was Jungkook's blissed out expression as the medicine kicked in, all the tense muscles in his body relaxing as the cries quieted down to nothing. Taehyung also motivated him, because even though the husky was exhausted from being woken up every 3 hours as well, he was still there everytime, stroking a hand along Jungkook's side and giving him gentle kisses and licks on his gland and face. Hoseok could see the love and concern in Taehyung's tired eyes, and the relief and happiness when Hoseok would get up to help. Hoseok has never seen someone so smitten.

After about a week, he could tell that the pair were getting restless. Especially Jungkook. He knew it was a matter of time before they went against his word and did something.

The day came exactly a week and 4 days into Jungkook's recovery, when he came home from the store and readied the morphine pills for Jungkook, only to walk over and find Taehyung naked and stuck on Jungkook's knot. Jungkook was on his back, looking calmly at Hoseok with a hand on Taehyung's waist. The husky though, he looked super guilty, bringing out the most powerful puppy eyes Hoseok has ever seen on him and nervously wringing his hands together. Hoseok set the groceries down and crossed his arms, giving a disapproving huff and walking over.

"Taehyung..."

"T-Taetae didn't mean to.. Kookie was being naughty!"

"Okay? You still should've said no."

"But Taetae is horny."

Hoseok choked on his spit. "Taehyung!"

"What!? Taetae is! You're a bad owner! You never get me or Jiminie toys to play with!" Hoseok gasped, not used to hearing Taehyung talk back so much.

"Taehyung! You should've ASKED instead of hopping on Jungkook." Taehyung lowered his head, ears pinning back and tail tucking.

"Taetae is sorry."

"...It's okay. Just don't do it again."

------

Taehyung waited for a whole 3 days after the pep talk, being a really good boy for his new owner. But then after the 3rd day, he started to feel a bit tingly down there and hot all over. Taehyung snuck upstairs and tried to take a cold bath to ignore it, but after getting out he just felt worse. A soft moan left his lips as he gripped the sink, feeling slick slipping down his thighs. He bit his bottom lip and looked into the mirror, noticing his flushed face and disheveled appearance. He then remembered that he was no longer on the suppressants just as the first cramp hit him, causing him to cry out and sink to the floor of the bathroom.

He needed to get to Jungkook.

He slowly got up, using the sink as leverage to help him stand, and made his way out of the bathroom and across the hallway to go downstairs. He saw the one of the bedroom doors creak open, revealing a red eyed Yoongi sniffing the air. Taehyung then took off running through the hallway, gripping his abdomen and running down the steps as another cramp shot through him, Yoongi hot on his heels. He sprinted into the living room and leaped on the bed next to a sleeping Jungkook, turning around just in time as Yoongi leaped on him. Taehyung snarled and whined, tucking his tail and pinning his ears as he desperately tried to get Yoongi off of him, getting a good bite on the wolf's shoulder before he was choked up by him. Taehyung let out a wheezing breath, whining high in his throat as Yoongi sniffed along his body. Taehyung turned his gaze to the side, knowing that Jungkook was in a deep morphine sleep and desperately wishing he was awake to help him. He knew feral Yoongi couldn't help himself, because feral alpha wolves tended to black out during a heat and relentlessly pursue their target. He could see Namjoon creeping down the steps, and cried out in fear, flailing wildly and managing to kick Yoongi square in the groin and get him off.

Taehyung took off again, running for the basement and managing to get behind the door and slam it shut before Namjoon got to him. He quickly locked the door, placing his head against it as another wave of pain washed over him. A strangled groan left him, and he panted through the pain, only calming when the cramps ceased. After they faded away, Taehyung turned around, realizing he hadn't turned the basement light on, and felt his way through the dark until he found the light switch. His eyes were adept at seeing well in the dark, but not able to find something as small as the lightswitch.

Once the light flickered on, Taehyung looked around at the small concrete basement, and found it to be very scary. He spotted the washing machine and the dryer, opening the latter and finding a few blankets that had already been dried. He thanked his lucky stars for the sudden find, grabbing the blankets and pulling them out, creating a nest with the little amount of stuff he had. Another cramp hit him, this one strong enough to have him doubled over and nearly screaming. He knew he wouldn't be able to survive the heat without a partner. The supressants cause a build up, and when you go off of them, the first few heats are unbearable. Taehyung needed his Kookie badly, but he could still smell the two other alpha's scents from under the door. He let out a quiet sob, defeatedly sitting down in the nest and screaming his way through another wave, sweat beading his skin as his breaths came out in labored pants.

After the pain subsided, he slowly perked up, hearing growls and snarls by the doorway and a lot of banging.

Taehyung shakily rose to his feet, gritting his teeth as he walked up the steps to the door, pain still shooting through his abdomen with every step. The noises stopped, and he couldn't smell Namjoon or Yoongi by the door anymore. Slowly, he reached a hand out, unlocking the door. He then twisted the knob, pushing the door open.

Jungkook.

He was there, standing up, eyes red and gaze murderous as he looked off to the side. Taehyung winced as he looked down at the cast on his leg and foot, hanging on by a thread. Jungkook must've shapeshifted into his primal form. There was blood around his mouth, and he wiped it off with a hand and then spotted Taehyung. Clearly still running on adrenaline, he walked up and literally picked Taehyung up and walked him over to the bed, laying him down and kissing his face as another wave hit. Taehyung screamed, digging his nails into Jungkook's biceps as tears streamed down his cheeks.

"Please.. please breed me Gukkie.." His deep voice was gentle even as another wave started up again. He cried out, and Jungkook kissed down to his scent gland and began to suck on it as he slid his hard cock into him, wasting no time. He grabbed Taehyung's hips and started pounding into him, Taehyung's screams of pain quickly turning into screams of pleasure.

"Harder~..! Taetae wants more~..!" Jungkook slammed his hips into Taehyung's writhing body, heavy balls slapping against the male's bubbly butt. Every thrust hit deep, Taehyung unable to control his moans as his brain became fuzzy with the heat. He pushed Jungkook back, turning over on all fours and presenting himself. Jungkook smacked his ass and shoved his whole length back in quickly, wrapping a hand around Taehyung's throat and fucking back into him hard.

"Taetae is cumming~.." Taehyung was drooling, moaning like he was dying from the pleasure and eventually came with a high pitched scream, his load spurting on the mattress below. Taehyung could feel the knot forming around his rim, exhaustedly slumping down and putting his face in the pillow as his tail tried to wag excitedly at the though of being filled. After a few more thrusts, the knot popped, locking them together as Jungkook came with a groan. He felt a smack on his ass and knew to move so that they could lay on their side. Jungkook them started kissing and licking on his neck, sucking a hickey into it and leaving Taehyung a moaning mess once again. Just then, his owner Hoseok came down the steps, yawning and rubbing at his eyes. Once he reached the bottom and turned, he froze in his tracks.

"Taehyung."

Taehyung's ears folded back and he bit his lip, trying to keep back the moans as his owner angrily stomped over. Luckily, he must've been obvious with his heat, because Hoseok's angry face slowly morphed into a calm, concerned one. "Are you... okay?"

"Taetae is in heat.." even with Taehyung being nervous, he couldn't open his eyes more than halfway, a shiver of pleasure running through him as Jungkook shifted around behind him. The wolf then made a pained huff, and Hoseok's disappointed look returned. He sighed, and walked off, leaving a confused and horny Taehyung to squirm on the fat knot he was on.

Hoseok came back a few minutes later with a needle, clearly ready to give Jungkook a shot, when he froze in place. Taehyung froze too as he heard Jungkook's growl start up, a menacing sound that Taehyung hoped he wouldn't have to hear again. He watched as Hoseok audibly gulped, backing away with his hands up in surrender.

Taehyung wanted to convey to Jungkook that he needed it, but felt the heat rush back when Jungkook began sucking on his gland, mind clearing as the fuzzy feeling washed over him once again. He felt the knot go down, Jungkook immediately rolling his hips as soon as he was able to move and hitting the deepest parts inside of Taehyung. All Taehyung could do is take it, drool resting on his bottom lip as he gripped the sheets and cried out in pleasure.

"Uhn~.. Jeongukkie.. more.." Jungkook granted his wish, the sound of skin slapping drowning out everything else as he sped up and went harder. Taehyung felt Jungkook grip his ass, moans tumbling from him uncontrollably. When he came a second time, decorating the sheets below, Taehyung saw movement over by the steps, instinctively snapping his head over while still yowling out as Jungkook hit his sweet spot over and over and yanked on his hair.

It was Jimin.

He watched as Jimin crept closer, looking really hot and disheveled, a rosy blush dusted across his cheeks and his eyes a soft blue from the heat. Taehyung always thought he looked absolutely beautiful, especially now, almost ethreal as he prowled. He felt the knot pop just as Jimin made his way over, blacking out as it pressed against his sweet spot and made him see stars.

When he came back to reality, he looked around for Jungkook, only to find him on his knees thrusting into a mewling Jimin. Jimin was laid on his back on the mattress and had tears streaking into his hairline, eyes half lidded and lips bitten up and swollen as he tried to contain his sounds.

They looked good together.

Almost too good.

Taehyung's primal side flared with jealousy and Jungkook stopped, looking over at him with a confused look as growling filled the air.

Taehyung then realized that he himself was the one growling. Jungkook quickly pulled out from Jimin, discarding him like a used napkin and came over to Taehyung instead. His primal side almost purred with satisfaction at this, and he turned around and presented himself, curling his tail off to the side. Taehyung then jumped as he heard a cry of pain, looking over at Jimin just as Jungkook entered him. A soft moan left Taehyung, but he continued to watch Jimin writhe around in agony, sobbing in pain.

Where was Yoongi?

Jimin shakily rolled over onto all fours after the pain subsided, crawling over to Jungkook and ignoring Taehyung's growls. He pawed at Jungkook's chiseled chest and licked at his chin and mouth, then tried to present himself again. But Jungkook seemed focused on Taehyung now, and Taehyung watched through now hooded eyes as Jimin whined and squirmed and screamed his way through another cramp, slumping down on the bed afterwards, clearly too weak to present anymore. Taehyung wanted to share, but his primal side didn't, and he was running on mostly primal instincts at the moment, so all he could do is stare and feel bad.

He hoped someone could help Jimin soon.

————

Hoseok arrived home just as the sun began to set, having taken the older 3 hybrids to the store. As he set the bags down on the kitchen counter, the two alpha wolves perked up and ran off, Hoseok raising an eyebrow at their behavior. He then heard loud snarling, dropping his keys and grabbing his old work leads off the counter, making his way into the living room. He saw chaos.

Taehyung was tied to Jungkook's knot, the latter snarling at Namjoon who was growling back and forcing his cock into Jimin's mouth. Yoongi was snarling too while pounding into Jimin's hole, effectively spitroasting the hybrid. Hoseok noticed that Jimin looked extremely weak and tired, struggling to keep up with their harsh treatment.

Hoseok managed to get a lead around Namjoon easily, as the male was distracted trying to break Jimin's jaw with his aggressive thrusts. With one sharp tug of the lead, Namjoon shuddered and backed off, whining and weakly trying to get the lead off his neck. Thankful that the lead decided to work for once, he lead Namjoon upstairs and locked him in Jin's room. He then made his way back down, observing Yoongi to see if he was hurting Jimin.

He wasn't.

Jimin's eyes were rolling back and he was letting out the highest pitched moans, begging for more even as Yoongi was drilling into him.

Taehyung, now off the knot, went over to Jimin only to be viciously snarled at by him.

Hoseok was shocked, quickly gripping another lead and getting ready to wrestle it on one of them if things got too serious. But instead, Taehyung quickly backed off, cuddling into Jungkook instead and sniffling. Jimin seemed completely unbothered, contuing to moan unabashedly as Yoongi knotted him. Hoseok didn't know what to do, having two of the omegas falling imto heat at the same time leaving him stumped. He should've got heat supressants immediately after bringing them home, but forgot.

Sudden banging and crashing from upstairs had Hoseok taking two steps at a time, racing to unlock the door and throwing it open. Namjoon and Jin had clearly been fighting, because the room was a mess, and Jin, beautiful sad Jin, was on the floor in his nest, being pounded into by Namjoon and held down by the throat. Jin was clearly not in heat, and looked absolutely livid, grunts of pain leaving him as Namjoon just took and took from him. Hoseok acted fast, getting the lead around his neck once again and dragging him off of Jin, dragging him into a separate room and locking him in there.

He went back into Jin's room, only to see that he decided to hide again, the only evidence of what happened found in a couple spots of blood in the empty nest. Hoseok felt extremely bad, but knew that if he went looking for Jin and found him, he'd probably get attacked. Reluctantly, he closed the door and made his way back down to the living room, walking in to find Jungkook missing, Taehyung left looking dazed and satisfied as he laid out on the bed. Hoseok noticed that he was as far away from Jimin as possible without falling off the large mattress.

Yoongi still pounding away into Jimin, high pitched moans pouring from Jimin's lips like a broken dam as their skin slapped together.

Then suddenly, Yoongi knotted him, locking them together, Hoseok watching as Jimin slowly passed out from exhaustion and pleasure. Remembering that Jungkook was still missing, Hoseok wandered off down the hall and into the kitchen, only to find him unconscious on the floor. Hoseok quickly grabbed the needle off the counter and injected Jungkook with it, then feeling his head and noting that he was burning up. Hoseok let out a stressed sigh and wrapped his arms under Jungkook's arms, managing to drag the heavy wolf back down the hall and into the living room before his back protested. Hoseok cried out, hand flying to rest over his back as he gritted his teeth and tried to push through the pain. Yoongi could see him struggling, knot slowly going down after the tie. Once Yoongi was able to pull out, he made his way over and helped Hoseok get Jungkook onto the bed next to a now sleeping Taehyung.

Jungkook started mumbling under his breath, brows furrowing, clearly going through some kind of nightmare. Hoseok quickly walked off to grab a cold wet washrag, coming back with it and laying it over his head. Hoseok watched over him for the next few hours, making sure that he replaced the cold rag for him and regularly administered the morphine. He also rewrapped Jungkook's foot and leg with gauze, knowing that it was only temporary and that he'd probably need a cast of some sort once he recovered from the fever.

----

Hoseok woke up to low moans of pain and pleasure later that night, walking downstairs to see Taehyung riding Jungkook while the alpha was still suffering from earlier, looking tired and growling at Taehyung in between pained grunts. Hoseok watched as Taehyung snapped back at him instead of backing down, placing his hands on Jungkook's solid chest and digging his fingernails into the male's pecs. Taehyung then tipped his head up, looking down his nose at Jungkook. Hoseok had no idea what to do, because if Taehyung was aggressive with Jungkook he was positive the omega would also be aggressive with him. He was pretty sure he read about this, about omegas getting cocky at times and trying to dominate over weaker alphas while in heat. There is always a hierarchy afterall, and sometimes while running on primal instincts hybrids tended to challenge those above them in the hierarchy when the opportunity presents itself.

Hoseok was surprised that TAEHYUNG out of everyone would challenge Jungkook, but has an idea how this may have happened. Taehyung most likely woke up in pain and begged Jungkook to sate it, but Jungkook must've refused. After awhile of being in unbearable pain his primal instincts must've taken over and caused him to challenge Jungkook so that the pain would stop. Clearly Taehyung won, but it was a double-edged sword, because now Taehyung was whimpering for a knot that he most likely won't get while being so forceful. Jungkook was just staring blankly at the crying male, unfazed by his sudden tears of desperation. Taehyung got off after awhile, most likely finally realizing that nothing is going to happen. As he screamed his way through what Hoseok guesses is another cramp, the owner whipped out his phone and searched up what to do. He managed to find one article.

'Psuedo-Knotting Method

When a omega hybrid is unable to be satisfied through a traditional breeding tie, there is another method called Pseudo-Knotting. The owner can either use toys such as the Knotter, or their own fist on their hybrid to stimulate the effect of being knotted.' Hoseok blinked, rereading that a few more times just to make sure he read it right.

Great, he's got to shove his hand inside his hybrid because he forgot to buy toys. He has no clue if Taehyung is even comfortable enough with him to do that. But the site says to either get him to do it willingly or hold the hybrid down and do it, since the pain of no knot at all can be way more fatal. Hoseok is just gonna try to talk to Taehyung,  maybe ease him into the idea, and if he can't get him to cooperate he's going to have to get Jimin or a doctor to do it.

Hoseok ran upstairs and returned with lubricant, calling Taehyung's name gently as he walked over to the mattress, Taehyung only looking up at him once the pain subsided. Hoseok cooed sadly at his expression, Taehyung looking absolutely pitiful with wet tear tracks streaking down his face, sniffling pathetically as he clutched his midsection.

"Hey Tae, I'm gonna try to help you, okay?" Taehyung huffed out a small 'okay' and went limp. Hoseok's eyebrows shot up at the trust and vulnerability displayed even while Taehyung ran on only instincts.

"Do you want me to explain it so you feel more comfortabl-" Taehyung shook his head, effectively cutting off the sentence nonverbally, then adding, "Help me hyungie please.."

"Okay Tae, just relax okay?" Hoseok reached for the lubricant bottle, popping the cap and dousing his right hand with lubricant. He tried to stimulate Taehyung so that he could trick the hybrid's body into thinking it was really getting a knot, flipping him around on his hands and knees and pressing down in between tbe hybrid's shoulder blades, holding him in place. He slipped a few fingers in as Taehyung moaned, but quickly realized that Jungkook had stretched him out quite a bit. He thought about how this would work, then came to the conclusion that he'd just have to fist him the whole time and expland his hand outwards to mimic a knot growing and locking.

Slowly, Hoseok worked his fist into the squirming hybrid, satisfied as Taehyung screamed when he managed to finally shove his entire clenched fist in. He wasted no time, finding a steady pace to work his fist in and out of the hybrid, hoping that Jungkook wouldn't wake up out of the sleep he drifted off to and skin him alive. Taehyung wasn't exactly helping either, letting out these high pitched cries that echoed around the house. Hoseok is glad he told his eomma to ignore the hybrids when they start moaning, otherwise this would've been an awkard situation to have to explain.

"More h-hyungie~..! Harder~..!" Hoseok sped up his pace, leaving Taehyung gasping for air and speechless, and began opening up his tight fist and pulling all the way out, forcing it back in. His hand slowly slid up to Taehyung's scent gland, carressing it and applying a light amount of pressure, Taehyung's eyes rolling back as he came silently and the "knot" popped. Hoseok could feel the hybrid's hungry, velvety walls trying to milk his fist, the tight wet heat clamping down and releasing him over and over until Taehyung was sated, and only then did he pull out his fist from his hybrid, wiping it off on some towels he found tossed to the side. Hoseok made sure Taehyung was okay, realizing he was fine and fast asleep, probably trying to build energy for his next wave. He wished that the hybrid would've drank and ate something before falling asleep, but he'll just have to wait till the next wave to try.

Hoseok slowly rose to his feet, stretching his arms and arching his back, only stopping once it cracked, and sat over on the couch to wait.

He must've ended up dosing off, because when he woke, Taehyung was nipping at his leg, ready for round two. Another thing he noticed is that his pants were missing, which he'd have to discuss with Taehyung later.

Inhale.

Exhale.

He should probably discuss it now.

"Taehyung wha-.. Why are my pants gone!?" Taehyung just exhaled through his nose as if chuckling at him and gripped Hoseok's very hard length, lightly sniffing and then licking a long line up it, looking up at Hoseok through his lashes. Even though he was hard enough to split titanium in half, Hoseok didn't want to do this. He knew Taehyung would never violate him like this, the heat clearly having driven him mad.

"Taehyung, stop. I don't want this." Taehyung's eyes flashed with anger at this, and the hybrid let go of him and crawled up his body, flashing his (very sharp) canines and growling.

"No! I want hyungie NOW."

Hoseok put up his hands placatingly, a wave of fear washing over him as Taehyung sat on him, luckily not actually sitting on his length.

"Taehyung, this is rape. Please don't. You're gonna regret this when you're back in your right mind."

Taehyung's eyebrows did a weird twitch when the r word was dropped, and his eyes seemed a little sad for a second. "Can't... stop... I'll die.."

"There are other ways! Please."

Another wave hit Taehyung, and he doubled over, gripping Hoseok's shirt tightly and moaning out in pain,

"Hyungiee I need it.. pleasee~..."

Hoseok picked the squirming hybrid up, carrying him back over to the bed so he could smell Jungkook's scent. Hoseok knew it would help Taehyung's heat more if he was closer to an alpha. Taehyung took the opportunity to try and bother Jungkook again, crawling up the bed and biting at his exposed mating bite, causing the wolf to jolt and glare at Taehyung.

"Taehyung! Leave Jungkook alone!" He went to grab Taehyung, but the husky was clearly too far gone by this point, growling loudly at Hoseok until he moved away.

Hoseok sighed loudly, facepalming and going into the kitchen to make a phone call to the vet.

—♤—

The vet took a horrifying hour and 30 minutes to show up, and in that time Taehyung had become nightmarish from the heat, biting Jungkook hard enough to draw blood a few times in his pursuit for a knot. Jungkook was snarling at Taehyung when Hoseok opened the door for the vet, the woman walking in just as Jungkook regained enough strength to deliver a powerful kick that sent Taehyung flying off the bed and across the room. The husky cried out as he slammed into the wall, immobilized from the pain, and the vet and Hoseok ran over to make sure he was okay.

"Taehyung!? Shit.." Hoseok could see he was barely conscious, and put a hand over his forehead, quickly recoiling after literally getting burned from how hot the poor hybrid was.

"He's bad. How did you let it get to this stage, Hoseok?" The vet was clearly beyond pissed, reaching into her bag and pulling out a Knotter and some lubricant and quickly applying it.

"I-..I don't know I fell asleep by accident because I was tired... He was fine when I fell asleep but when I woke up he was trying to touch me and I was gonna help him but it just got out of control!" He wiped away tears of shame, watching helplessly as the vet gently put Taehyung into the breeding position, seeing the husky trying to present even in his weak state. She slid in the Knotter and he came immediately, groaning softly.

"Okay well you need to be more prepared for these hybrids in the future. They are not just your friend and they certainly aren't toys, they are your pets and they deserve the best care possible. I'll leave a few Knotters here so you don't have this issue anymore. Do you need birth control too?"

Hoseok felt like he was getting scolded by his eomma, shifting from foot to foot in embarrassment. "..yes please. That would be great."

"Alright, I only have the hormonal ring on me right now, will that be alright?"

Hoseok nodded, then remembered that her back was turned to him and uttered out a small 'yes', watching her gently stroke down Taehyung's back as the whimpering husky came for the third time in a row, the Knotter already popped into him.

"It'll be okay buddy, alright? You're alright. Does the knot feel good?"

"Mmm yes~... thankyouthankyouthankyou~.." The vet chuckled, ruffling his hair, and deflated the Knotter once Taehyung finally relaxed and went limp, sliding it out of him and digging through her bag to find a hormonal ring, sliding on sterile gloves and opening the packet. He only twitched a little when she slid the ring inside of him and adjusted it so it was in place, and she fed him some bacon after removing her hand and taking off the gloves.

"Good boy, you did so well!"

His tail weakly wagged, and he gave her a tired smile, looking ready to fall asleep right there on the floor. Hoseok had no idea where he'd put the antsy husky, clearly not being able to be trusted with his own alpha. After the vet managed to get Taehyung to hydrate and eat a bit more, she took her leave, Hoseok thanking her profusely as he escorted her out. He decided Taehyung can just sleep in his room with him and he'll use the Knotters left on the table if he has to. He grabbed a Knotter and lifted Taehyung up in his arms, carrying him upstairs.

His heat lasted two more nights, and was brutal on Hoseok. Not only did he have to worry about remembering Jungkook's morphine, but he also had to remember Taehyung's heat. By the time it was done, late into the night, Hoseok was exhausted, pulling the Knotter out of a now passed out Taehyung and browsing new places to live after realizing he put enough stress on his poor eomma with the hybrids just in these past weeks and that he should be looking for a place by now anyways. All the places looked nice, but not suited for a bunch of semi-feral and fully feral hybrids.

Hoseok sighed, closing the laptop and rubbing his face, annoyed by the stress he was feeling. Just then, his phone lit up on the bedside table, jingly ringtone sounding through the quiet room. He answered it, not bothering to look at the Caller ID.

"Hello..?"

"Hey man, how have you been?"

Jackson.

"Oh! Hey Jackson. I'm just... it's been... a lot. "

"Damn man, sorry to hear that. Is everything okay? Are the hybrids alright?"

He looked over at a sleeping Taehyung. "Physically yeah. Mentally is a discussion for another day. What were you calling about?"

"Oh! I got a lawyer and we're continuing the investigation into that horrible woman that was abusing Jungkook. I'm still employed at the shelter so I have the ability to keep looking from the inside, which is great."

Hoseok cringed at the thought of the woman, and was glad Jackson didn't give up on it. "That's amazing, I hope she rots when they catch her and she gets arrested."

"Me too bro. Me too."

Silence.

"Are YOU okay, Hoseok?"

He sighs, his hopes of getting out of the conversation without having to discuss his feelings dashed. "Eh."

"What's wrong..?"

With those two little words, the floodgates open, both in his eyes and mouth as he sniffles through everything that happened in the past few weeks and talks about how overwhelmed he feels with the hybrids and the house.

"Th-they're good hybrids I promise.. i-it's just that I can't seem to make them all get along. Even the ones that like eachother keep having problems and I-I don't know what to do anymore. I can't keep living here and stressing out my eomma with all this shit, and I f-feel like no house for sale is suitable for these hybrids."

Jackson gets quiet for a minute, deep in thought, and then begins to speak. "Listen, I'm not a vet or a professional or anything, but to me it just seems like they're trying to figure out the pack dynamics. It was easy when they were all in seperate cages and forced to get along back at the shelter but now that they realize they're all in this together, it may take them awhile to adjust. It's perfectly normal. The living situation is also an easy fix. I have a cousin who moved out to an estate after running a rescue in her own backyard, and left the old property behind. It still has all the reinforcements of a rescue, big wide open fields for the hybrids to explore and stuff. It's about 460 acres of wide open fields and forest for them to run. Pretty neat huh?"

"Jackson, I couldn't possibly take that after everything you've already done for me I-"

"It's fine man, I don't mind. You've been a great friend so this is nothing. She's a K-pop star too, so convincing her to lower the price a bit for ya won't be a big deal to her, especially after I explain to her how you rescued the hybrids from that horrible shelter."

"Thank you so much Jackson... I-I don't think I could ever repay you enough.."

"Hoseok, you're a good person. Just keep doing what you're doing and I honestly don't mind helping out. Plusss, I'm kinda attached to those hybrids too. They grew on me after awhile. I want the best for you guys."

Tears of joy slipped from Hoseok's eyes and they kept talking for awhile, Hoseok feeling more motivated than every once they said goodnight and the phone hung up.

He's gonna make sure these hybrids have their happy ending.
