Chapter 1: Die for you
Chapter Text
This was not how things were supposed to turn out.
Techno had known Tommy for almost a year at this point. The boy had started to work at the coffee shop he frequented and immediately peaked his interest.
He still can’t tell what got him so attached. Maybe it was his way of making everyone close by laugh, or how he seemed to light up the room when he entered, or how they seemed to have the exact same humor.
Maybe it was the way Techno could tell he hid his feelings behind a smile and joke. How his eye bags tell of problems that no 16 maybe 17 (There was no way the 19 on his papers were accurate) should have to worry about.
But that wasn’t important now.
You see, Techno wasn’t like everyone else. He wasn’t human. He was a vampire. He has lived for decades. People are actively trying to hurt and kill him for that. And they apparently doesn’t care if the have to hurt other people, normal people, to get to him.
That was evident in the way Tommy was currently carefully being cradled in his arms. The hunters responsible were long gone. They didn’t have a chance.
But he wasn’t fast enough. Tommy called him in a panicked state claiming that multiple armed men were chasing him, all thought or reason to hide his inhuman abilities went out the window as he rushed down the streets. Pure instinct led him in the right direction.
By the time he got to his senses he was standing over one of the hunters while the rest lay spread out around him, all clearly dead. What caught his eyes though was Tommy. He was leaning against the walls of the alley, hand clutching a bleeding wound on his stomach.
Techno quickly made his way over and started looking him over. Tommy had a few small wounds but what really concerned him was the gasch in his stomach. And the fact that he was unresponsive.
And that leads us to our current situation.
Techno gently shaking and trying to get Tommy to respond while keeping pressure on the stomach wound. “Tommy wake up, Tommy please, please wake up”
Techno was known to rarely show any emotion so the fact that he was practically sobbing was saying something.
The thought to turn Tommy had evolved slowly ever since the start. Techno had told Tommy his secret a few weeks ago and was considering proposing the idea of a turning soon.
Tommy had been shocked, of course. But not necessarily scared, more like cautions. And of course he’d been interested and thought it was “cool as fuck” as he put it.
Techno would have liked to wait multiple more years before turning Tommy, so that his body would be fully developed and he got to experience life before. If he even wanted to be turned.
But now it seemed like that choice was being ripped from them. If Tommy were to survive the night, Techno needed to turn him now.
But he didn’t want to do that without Tommys consent. Becoming a vampire was a life changing and irreversible thing.
Just as he was starting to give up on Tommy waking up before it was too late his eyes blinked open. His eyes were slightly glazed over and he didn’t really look like he was aware of what was going on.
“Tommy, Tommy do you hear me?” Tommy’s eyes wandered over his surroundings before settling on Technos face. Some sort of recognition flashed in his eyes. “Techno… you come…” the words were barely audible but with Technos enchanted hearing he didn’t have that much trouble hearing them.
And if those words didn't break his heart. “Of course, I would never leave you” A small smile formed on Tommy’s lips but it didn't reach his eyes. “I’m sorry… can’t promise the same” “Nonono there is a way. You don’t need to leave.” Techno rushed out. Tommy’s eyes seemed to become more and more heavy. “I-I could turn you.”
Tommy blinked slowly. “You would do that for me?” “Of course. I was going to propose it when the time felt right. But I won’t do anything you don’t want to. Do you want me to turn you?”
Tommys head fell against Technos chest and his eyes closed. “Please” The whisper was impossibly quieter, but it was all Techno. Needed to latch on the Tommys neck.
—-
The next time Tommy woke up he couldn't remember the pain. All he felt was hunger. Before he knew he was letting out a long whine.
Within seconds something was shoved into his mouth and it was filled with the most wonderful taste ever.
Before he knew it he was drifting off to sleep again, warm, comfortable with a full stomach.
—
Techno didn’t know what to do. He had a newly turned fledgling in his nest with no preparations made.
Usually when a vampire takes on a fledgling that’s something that the entire coven prepares for for weaks. The to be sire drinks a lot of extra blood in preparation, the coven gathers a lot of extra blood to store up and together they prepare the nest room with extra soft blankets and cushions.
But one of the most important things was that the entire coven was present. You see, when a sire turns a fledgling the fledgling can't be left alone for the first two years.
That means that the sire can’t leave the nest to hunt. All while feeding the fledgling at least every day after it first wakes up.
Without the sire’s coven present the chance of neither the sire or fledgling starving is basically zero.
Techno could contact his sire and coven through the bond that was currently closed off on his end, but he could already see the disappointment in his sire's eyes.
He could do this. He could take care of Tommy.
He could.
—
Techno was starving.
He hadn't eaten anything in three months. But his instincts forbid him from leaving the nest.
What hurt the most was not the pains in his stomach but the whines Tommy would make as he struggled to drink Technos blood. There was barely anything there and what little he had was almost too thick for him to drink.
In his wicked state he could feel his hold on the bonde with his coven slipping and emotions leaking through.
At this point he doubts he would be able to hunt either way. Even lifting his arms to hold his little treasure was starting to feel like a task.
Techno knew from the start that the chance of him dying was high when he chose to turn Tommy without preparations. But it would be worth it. No matter how it turned out it would have been worth it. A chance for Tommy to live will always be worth it.
Chapter 2: Why are you suffering?

Chapter Text
Phil had let his fledglings (not that thir still considered fledglings but Phil will anyways view them as such) travel the world and explore on their own. They were both multiple decades old by now and could easily take care of themself.
The only condition was that the bond between them was to be kept open at most times. And that was not to be controlling in any way, it was just so he could make sure they were safe.
A vampire coven bond lets them project emotions and basic thoughts on command. Only really strong emotions can slip through without the others ' control. With exceptions for when the other is weak in some way.
Another thing that comes with the bond being open is that they can feel in what direction and how far away the other is. So if one of Phil’s fledgling were to need help in any way he would know where to find them.
That being said, Phil was starting to become really worried. Techno’s bond has been closed for almost two months now.
He could still feel the bond, so he knew Techno was still alive (as alive an undead can be) but the bond was closed off and completely quiet.
It wasn’t unusual for Techno to close his side of the bond for short periods of time but not over a month, let alone two.
His eldest son, Will, had returned home from his latest adventure a few years ago and was currently feeling the effects of Phil’s worry. Being completely tucked down in the nest with the older constantly doting on him, instincts going crazy.
“Phil calm down. You won’t be able to help him if you're completely lost in your instincts.” Phil sighs and pauses his pacing. “I know Will, I know, but I can’t. Something’s wrong, I can feel it. Why would he close the bond? I don’t understand.” He sits down on the edge of the nest. Willbur quickly makes his way over and wraps his sire in a hug. “Technos strong. He may be my little brother but he will always be stronger than me. He’s probably fine, and if he wasn’t fine he would have contacted us by now.”
“You’re probably right, but I can't help but worry” Phil returns the hug and they just sit there, enjoying each other’s comfort.
—
Throughout the next few weeks their worry only grew. It didn’t help that the wall Techno had built up on his side of the bond was slowly breaking down.
By the time the bond had now been closed off for two months and a week weak reflections of emotions started leaking through.
Phil broke down in tears as he could feel thrusts of discomfort, frustration and pain. His son was in pain, and there was nothing he could do to help. Not until Techno let him sense his location or Techno became too weak to hold it up (Phil didn’t want to think about how it might be too late by then).
As the days went by the emotions became clearer and stronger. By the three month mark Phil could make out specific emotions such as helplessness, heartbreak and hunger.
His son was starving. And by the intensity of the feeling he probably hadn’t eaten since the bond closed, over three months ago.
A fully developed vampire can go two months without blood without larger problems, after three months the hunger develops into pains. By four months the body starts to break down and the vampire becomes weak. The longest recorded period a vampire has gone without blood and survived is six months and 8 days. Of course the time almost halves if that vampire is constantly feeding another.
Phil was on a clock to find his son, which he still has no way to locate and could be anywhere in the world. And the time was running out faster than he thought.
—
Wilbur was hunting. He would be lying if he said the almost constant flow of emotions from his brother wasn’t heartbreaking.
To know that his brother was starving made it hard to even think of hunting for en self. The only thing that made him leave the mansion that was their covenhome was the knowledge that Phil currently was not in a state to leave the nest and both of them needed the blood to be able to help Techno when they locate him.
Because they will find him. They will. They have to.
—
Wilbur had just gotten home when the blockade on the bond shattered. The weave of desperation-hunger-pain that came crashing through almost brought him to his knees.
He had barely gotten his breathing back under control when Phil came rushing down the stairs. “T-The bond Techno where leave now” And he was out of the door again.
The sentence may not have made a lot of sense to most people but Will knew exactly what Phil ment with the rushed words. Techno’s side of the bond was open and they knew where he was. They are leaving now.
He quickly grabbed one of the blood bags from the fridge before hastily making his way out to the car where Phil was already waiting. He sat down in the passenger seat and Phil drove off.
Now you may think. “If you’re vampires, why are you then using a car? Couldn’t you just use your super speed?” And while that’s right, modern means of transportation are often an easier and sometimes faster way.
So car it was.
Phil sped off down the highway at what was definitely not legal speed. Not that any of them cared. They had more than enough money to spare for speeding tickets. What they didn’t have to spare was time.
Will was frantically searching on his phone, trying to find Technos exact location by using the direction and distance that’s projected through the bond and the maps on his phone.
When he found the approximate location of him he started directing Phil the right.
—-
The navigation app said that they would arrive at their destination in 9 hours. They were there within 5. Turns out Techno has been living in a small village in basically the middle of nowhere for the last 3 centuries. Will could have guessed, seams like a place he would live.
They quickly exited the car and started running in the direction the bond led them.
The bond led them to a small cabin in the outskirts of the village. Phil reached the door first and tried to open it. It was, as expected, locked. They quickly shared a look before Phil rammed against the door, effectively opening it.
Will didn’t really know what he expected to see as he rushed in. What he did know was that this was not it. As they entered the house and made their way to the room Techno was in they were met with a threatening hiss.
There protectively curled around a teenager, shielding them from view was a clearly exhausted Techno. Hissing at them as if they were a threat.
And then it clicked. That was not just a teenager. That was a fledgling, Technos fledgling.
The reason for all of Technos pain and suffering was that he was trying to take care of a fledgling. By himself.
And Wilbur thought he was the impulsive one.
Notes:
So that’s Phil and Wilbur’s point of view. What do you think?
I know I said that this would probably be the last chapter but there will be at least one more. Probably posted sometime next week.
Chapter 3: Family
Notes:
This took much longer then I thought it would. Mostly because school started up again after vinter break.
Anyway here's the last chapter. Hope you enjoy!

Chapter Text
This was… not what Phil had expected. Sure he wasn’t against a new member to the coven, but not this way.
Techno was currently so deep into his instincts to protect his fledgling that he didn’t even recognise him. That’s step one.
“Will leave” Phil didn’t let his eyes leave his eldest son.
Wilbur was about to argue but quickly made his way out of the room as another threatening hiss left his brother. Phil was right, the fewer people the better if they are to get Techno to calm down.
Once Will had left Phil slowly crouched down into a squatting position, still at the entrance of the room.
“Hey Techno, it’s fine, it’s just me. You can calm down, I won’t hurt your fledgling” He let out a reachuring chirp.
Techno stopped hissing, exhaustion starting to take over when the immediate danger was gone.
“Hey Techno, do you hear me?” Phil crept slowly forward. “Techno, hey stay awake” He could feel the panic start to rise inside of him as Techno started to doze off.
He quickly made his way to Techno’s side, completely forgetting about taking it slow and careful. He brought his wrist to his mouth and bit down, immediately drawing blood.
As soon as Phil pierced his skin Techno’s eyes flew open. Phil brought his wrist towards Techno. Techno quickly latched on with both hands and fangs and started feeding.
Phil couldn’t help but let out a chuckle of relief as he moved them so that Techno was sitting sideways across his lap. “It’s okay, just eat. I’m here now.” Phil murmured reassuringly into his fledgling’s hair while rubbing circles on his back.
Their moment came to an end as the other person in the nest, supposedly Techno’s newly turned fledgling, started moving around and letting out a low whine.
Techno was out of Phils arms in seconds. Moving with help of the newfound strength from his sire’s blood. It was like he forgot that Phil was even there.
Techno quickly curled around his fledgling. He opened a wound on his own wrist and offered it to them. They started feeding immediately, or tried to at least. It was obvious that Techno didn’t have much blood to give.
“I could feed them?” Phil didn’t approach in any way other than offering his wrist forward again. Techno lifted his gaze to Phil and then back to his fledgling.
For a moment Phil thought that he still was too deep into his instincts to understand the offer. But then Techno wordlessly nodded.
Phil slowly made his way over to the pair as Techno pried his wrist from the little one's mouth. The action caused a long whine to escape before Phil could replace him though it quietened quickly after he got the first mouthful of Phil’s blood.
He could see the fledgling’s eyes dilate as he drank. With the condition Techno was in Phil could only imagine when the little one last got a real meal. The thought almost broke his heart.
As the fledgling settled down again Phil once again directed his focus towards his youngest (middle?) son. Techno was visually anxious about Phil being so close to his fledgling. He was hovering around them and seaned unable to calm down.
“Calm down Techno. I won’t hurt him.” Techno looked up from where he had been staring down at the fledgling as he ate. An uncertain look on his face. “I know, I know, I just… it feels wrong.”
“I get it. It’s your instincts. They're telling you that you need to protect him.” As they spoke the fledgling started to doze off against Phil. Phil’s wrist still clutched tightly in his mouth. “Would you like to tell me about your little one? You know I would have supported you fully if you’d come to me right? We could have skipped this hole part of both you and him nearly dying?”
Techno bowed his head down in slight embarrassment. “It’s not like that. I didn't plan on turning him.. yet.” He had calmed down considerably by now and was leaning against the side of Phil that was not occupied by his fledgling.
“Then what happened mate?” And that was all it took for Techno to break down. Silent tears started rolling down his cheeks and he buried his head in his sire’s shoulder. That might not sound like much but for someone that has barely cracked a smile in decades and is usually as expressionless as a concrete wall. This was the equivalent of someone crying his heart out.
“I thought I was too late, I thought I lost him. I thought… I thought they’d killed him.” Phil could barely hear him but he did. And he understood. Of Course he understood. He’d been there. The only difference being that he had been too late, he had lost her.
Phil pulled his son into a hug and started rubbing circles on his back. “It’s okay, you’re okay. He’s okay.”
They sat like that for almost 20 minutes until Techno had calmed down. It was Phil who eventually broke the silence. “You want to tell me about him?” He looked down at the sleeping boy and started gently running his fingers through his hair.
A small smile creeped onto his face. “His name is Tommy. He is a wonderful boy, so energetic and lively. He was the dumbest yet funniest humor I’ve ever experienced. He’s basically radiating happiness despite everything he’s been through. He deserves so much more than what life has given him. He has become my everything in what has barely been half a year.
Both of their glances were now on Tommy.
“He sounds like a perfect addition to our coven.”
“So Phil’s officially old now? He’s a grandpa?” Both of the vampire's heads snapped up to the doorway at the voice. The ghost of a smirk can bee seen on Technos face “Yup”
Phil let out an offended gasp. “You little shits!”
All three of them froze as the sound of a faint laugh could be heard. “Philza old”
And Phil couldn't even bring himself to act annoyed at his little songbird. Yes, he would be the perfect addition to their family.
