Chapter Text

“AGH DAMMIT!!!” Sam shouts as he puts his pool cue into the wall holster. “Why can I never beat you?!” he says while folding his arms. Sebastian gives a slight smirk, “As they say, git gud scrub.” he says as he follows Sam's suit. Abby laughs as she follows, putting her cue up. “I was going to grab some drinks! Seb- coffee ,Sam- a pint, Lily?” Abby looks over to the couches where Lily is sitting.

“Uh… actually I’m okay! I don’t drink much.” Lily says with a sheepish shrug. “What? C’mon!” Sam shouts as he spins around “We gotta celebrate your return! Just one pint!” “Haha Sam you haven’t changed a bit! Fine, just one though!” Lily giggles as she glances at him with a smile. His face was slightly blushed with a frozen-in-time look. Before she can ask what was wrong he snaps out of his trance, “OH UH… WHY DON’T I HELP YOU ABBY!!!” As he links his arm with Abby’s and rushes back towards the bar. Sebastian and Lily sit in what seems like an eternal void of silence. She slowly becomes uncomfortable and attempts to break the silence.

“SO… Sebastian… how long have you been in Pelican Town for?”

“A few years.” Sebastian replies, stoic, emotionless, and not breaking eye contact with Lily.

“Oh. Okay. Cool cool cool.”

COOL COOL COOL?! THAT'S NOT EVEN COOL TO SAY. WHAT THE HELL LILY GET IT TOGETHER! It's already awkward AS IS. C’mon. Think. Say something relatable!”

“Oh you know, I met your dad and sister today! They seemed nice!”

“NAILED IT.”

“I never talk to them.”

“FUCK”

Lily noticed Sebastian looking slightly uncomfortable talking about his family, his eyes shifted to the floor the moment she mentioned them. “I’m sorry if that was a sensitive topic…” Sebastian looks up at Lily. “It’s okay… you didn’t know. Sorry if I am short with you. I’m just not… very good with new people.” Sebastian scratches the back of his head, looking away in embarrassment.

“I completely understand, at least, about family.” Lily leans slightly against the pool table, “The last time I saw Abby and Sam, my mother was pulling me away. She was mad at my grandfather. I don’t really know why either…” She picks at her nails. “I never really forgave her for that, since that was the last time I saw him too.” She looks back at Sebastian and before Lily can say more, he speaks up, “I… definitely know what you mean-”

“HEY YOU TWO!” Abby says bursting in the door, holding a coffee in one hand and a pint of beer in the other, “Here’s this for you Seb, and here's this for you Lil!” as she hands them their drinks, Sam follows Abby closely behind, his first few may have hit him a bit early. He hands Abby as he walks by her, stumbling over his feet within every few steps. “Sam, are you sure you can handle another pint?” Abby says with a chuckle as she grabs the glass. “Hey!” Sam sits up straight, “I got this! Besides, we are just hanging out! Oh also, Seb, you might want to wait to go home. Your mom and the smartass are out there.” “Oh. Yay me.” Sebastion says with an eye roll.

“I’m guessing Smartass is Demetrius. That’s probably why he never talks to them… Demetrius seems to ignore Sebastian’s existence…”

“It’s okay, let's just hang out in here then!” Lily says with a smile as she takes the first sip of the beer, “Besides, I have no- WAIT HOLD UP THIS BEER TASTES ACTUALLY REALLY GOOD???” Lily shouts, as the rest of the crew is jumpscared by her squealing. “Haha! I knew you would like it!” Sam says with a childish grin, “Its only the BEST beer in the world! As the night continues on, eventually, Lily, Sam, Sebastian, and Abigail decide to return home, but agree to making plans in the afternoon to go to the mountains. “I’ll see you all tomorrow! 2pm, right?” Lily says, with her cheeks slightly blushed and slightly drunk. “Oh for sure! *HIC* Are you sure you can get home safely?” Sam says, barely holding his own. Lily pats his shoulder, “I’m fine, I’m more worried about you! Haha.” Sam looks at her again, similar to the same look he gave her near the pool table earlier that night. Though his face was already fairly red from the alcohol, his eyes tell it all. “Sam’s fine. He just doesn’t know how to moderate his drinking.” Sebastian says as he gives Sam a friendly shove. “Hey now! That’s a lot coming from a guy who doesn’t like alcohol!” Sam says with a laugh. “Ha, true. But I get high, and I am fairly good at being high, too!” Seb laughs. Though they have hung out all night, this is possibly the first time Sebastian has shown signs of feeling relaxed.

“Anyways, c’mon guys, let's all go home! It’s late!” Abby says, pushing Sebastian and Lily towards the city square. Sam waves goodnight as he goes the opposite direction.

Lily, Abby, and Sebastian say their farewells as they all head in separate directions. As Lily walks to the farm, she feels a sense of peace. “Finally. After all these years, I missed Sam and Abby. Though… I think Sebastian is great too. Hes soft spoken, but cuts to the chase every time. I think we will all be great friends!”

As Lily smiles from her thoughts, she hears a shuffle in the bushes ahead on her path. She stops in fear of a bear, or was someone following her? Could it be Alex from earlier? Lily slowly approaches the deep, thick brush on the side of her path but stops abruptly from a loud moan followed by a-

“L-Lewis! Oh… OH YES, DEEPER!!!”

“OH. EW. WHAT THE FUCK.” Lily, with an immediately pale face as if she was about to vomit, spins on her heel to take the long path.

“Was… oh cmon… here?! Well… I mean if that's your kink sure but… Was that Marn-... UGH.”

Lily speeds up her walking to get as far away from the path as she can so she’s no longer within earshot. As she approaches the square once more, she sees a shadow figure off to the left of the General Store. There's a cloud of smoke near it as a light rain begins to fall. Lily was a little too intoxicated and shocked to even notice the dark clouds covering the starry sky. “Hey. What are you doing back?” Lily recognized the voice immediately as Sebastian. With slight relief that it wasn’t Alex nor a very intimate Marnie or Lewis, she approached Sebastian as the rain became slightly heavier.

“Uh… well I heard something- someone? Some… PEOPLE? Doing things on that path overt-”

“Oh. Lemme guess, Marnie and Lewis absolutely fucking in the bushes?” Sebastian raises an eye with a slightly cheeky smile, taking another puff of his cigarette.

“OH. Yeah. It was…”

“Gross?”

“Abso-fuckin-lutely” Lily says laughing but with an uncomfortable shift. Sebastian lets out a small smile while blowing the smoke in the other direction.

“Hey, listen. At least SOMEONE is getting it here.” As he takes one more puff. Lily thought about his statement. There were plenty of potential bachelors and bachelorettes, did none of them even consider hooking up? It’s a small town, so it doesn’t seem that impossible. “Do… you not have someone you like here?” Lily looked over to Sebastian. He froze for a second, but proceeded putting out his cigarette and pocketing the bud. “I mean… yeah we all do. But I don’t think any of us have the balls to do anything about it.”

“May I ask who’s interested in who? Or is that too gossip-y!?” Lily looks at him slightly perplexed but increasingly curious. He stares at her once more, shrugs and waves her to follow him. They begin walking through the square for a few moments in silence before he says; “Well. I obviously like Abigail. But I think she is trying to explore her bisexual side, so I haven’t tried to pursue her. Don’t get me wrong, she's amazing. But I also want to give her that space she doesn’t even realize she needs time to explore.

“Wow… so he really does care for her but also is... Selfless.”

Sebastian continues; “And even if she finds someone else, as long as they treat her right and she is happy, then I am too. As for Sam, he and Penny have definitely been fucking. I bet you she and he are going at it right now. He does every time he’s plastered. Chances are she is too. They always wake up in the morning feeling guilty. Sam calls me to complain and Penny calls Abigail to complain. It’s a whole thing.” “Oh wow. I would have never guessed that…” Lily can’t believe her childhood friends are so mature. The concept of time weighs on her slightly.

“Theres a ton of tension with Abigail and Emily, and Elliot and Leah are two threads woven in the same cloth. Hmm… I feel Harvey is ace. He doesn’t seem to pursue anyone. Oh, and Alex and Hailey are a thing. I have caught them in the woods a few times actually. Hailey looks like Alex can’t find her clit even if it was 10 feet in the air! Aha!” Sebastian laughs at his own joke. Lily slightly chuckles, but the thought of Alex makes her uncomfortable. “What about you, farmer? What is your type?” Sebastian says as they turn down the river. “I am honestly not sure. I don’t have a preference for type. Though it’s been a while since I have done things like that…”

Sebastian looks over to her; “Oh? Just not interest you or?”

“Well… yes and no. I focused so much on myself, I never fully experimented with ideas on my own…”

She begins twiddling her thumbs as they pass Emily and Hailey’s house, nearing Sam’s. “Oh, hey! Wanna go spy on Sam? I see his light on! Sebastian says with a smile. Lily giggles and agrees as he quickly grabs her hand to lead him through the thicket of weeds. They approach the right side of the building. As they peak through the window corner, the audio becomes easier to comprehend. “Yeah, just like that, just a little deeper… mmgh so good” Sam says as Lily and Sebastian notice Penny giving oral sex to him. His whole body exposed as he pushes Penny’s head deeper into his groin. She lets out a slight gag, licks the tip of his erection, and deep throats it once more.

“OH. OH. OH MY GOD.” Lily says panicked but quietly. “OH MY GOD AHAHAHAHA” Sebastian almost shouts, but Lily shoves her hand over his mouth. “SHHHH stop!!! Cmon lets go!!!” As she pulls him back to the main road.

“Ahahahaha I can’t believe I called that! Like I said, there’s not much to do around here! Aha… hahahah…- wait… are you ace too? I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortabl-” “No no! It’s not like that! Like I said I am just in a weird area that's all!” Lily’s face gets blush pink as she walks a little faster. “Mind if I pry you for gossip then…?” Sebastian says as he catches back up to speed.

“Well… I had a relationship that was fairly long. About 5 years. I was deeply in love. I gave them my whole world and they just… Threw it all away because the one time I needed them, they weren’t there.” Lily says as she continues walking, slowly lowering her head in sadness. She continues; “It’s been about four years since then and I suppose I kinda gave up on that sort of stuff for a while. Now… I am not really sure how to put myself back in the game. I THINK I am ready but I am still scared I will get hurt.”

Sebastian stops walking as she trails ahead a few steps before turning around to see Sebastian with red/pink cheeks. His facial expression is that of empathy. “I know what you mean…” as he walks towards her “It isn't easy to trust again. Let alone feel like you deserve it. But… Thank you,”

he places a hand on her shoulder; “I know it’s fucking difficult. So… I will only do this once. Got it?”

“Got wha-” Sebastian pulls her into his chest. His sweater smells slightly with Marijuana and cigarettes, but an even stronger smell of his perfected cologne. It's sweet, but zesty. The rain begins to fall hard, but he is so warm to the touch. She doesn’t want to be released. He lets go, and grabs her hand “ We should get you home. This rain is probably not good for you.” As he trail blazes past Marnie's house and onto the back property of the farm.

“ I forgot physical touch… what that felt like. Smelt like. Sounded like. But most importantly… I feel like someone cares.”
