Not all arguments are simple and clear cut. Sometimes tempers run high, and things happen that neither expects, things that later they regret. Sometimes there’s no clear-cut path on how a moment could go from great to terrible in the blink of an eye.
For Alec Lightwood, this was not one of those times.
Alec wanted to say that he did not know how things had gotten to this point. He wanted to claim innocence in this whole terrible mess that he found himself in. Unfortunately, he was far too self-aware for that - and even if he hadn’t been, his sister would’ve made damn sure he knew exactly who was at fault here.
