Summary
Reader (y/n) was working on Overwatch during the tail end of it's Golden Age but after the 'Venice Incident' and the Petras Act they were put out of commission and blacklisted for 'conspiracy'. Now Reader has to start from square one and build their life back up again but very few employers will take in someone with your *ehem* history. Luckily for you though there are others watching from the shadows who could use your particular sets of skills.
This story follows the Overwatch Cinematics and begins around the time of Storm Rising, references and notes to previous events will appear and I'll try to make it easy to follow and connect the dots, apologies in advance for any confusion.
Also, like my other stories I've written this based on how I imagine the reader (thus it being tagged as femxfem) but I encourage and hope this won't deter any non-binary or male readers from enjoying this as well. The world of Overwatch is diverse, one reason why I enjoy it so much, but writing it this way makes it a lot easier for me

He'd behaved with the naivete of a newborn, forgetting the body that caged him was the one that had been splitting their soft skulls since he'd been manufactured. Omnics smarter than him had been the ones to jump in front of their commander - former commander, whatever he was to them now - and shielded him from his misplaced moment of vulnerability. They'd lived for perhaps a few minutes before dying in his arms, whatever they felt for him somehow overriding these new instincts to survive and, apparently, make senseless gestures of reconciliation

Suzette’s always the brightest little girl in the room, often with a little piece of dous makos or tablet cocoye in her hands ready to be devoured, her hair no matter how energetic she is always staying in its usual style of six stocky, spiraled pigtails with plastic barrettes and silk laces holding them.
A truly adorable sight.
It’s a relief that in the aftermath of the Omnic crisis she still looks more or less the same—he gets to have a peaceful last memory of her appearance before her casket is shut and buried beneath Mother Earth alongside their parents.
(Or, a pre-canon ficlet on Jean-Baptiste’s life in the Gonaïves, Haiti with his sister before the Omnic Crisis, and how in the aftermath of his sister’s death meeting and bonding with Roseline at the peak of Port-de-Paix. Lots of angst.)

The last time the task force battled the omnics, the mechs they piloted took heavy blows because of the adapting Gwishin who somehow predicted their moves, except for Gunwook of course who kept his nature of being unpredictable and attacking first.
or, former esports champion, now MEKA Mech pilot Park Gunwook, most known by his alias GUN.UK, has a mindset on doing things by himself. What will happen when the Gwishin attack Busan at 3 AM and no one is awake to defend Busan?
