In the time they'd been living together, Vaggie had quickly realized that it wasn't easy to really get under Angel's skin. It was actually infuriating how much he didn't seem to care. Jabs at his profession, habits, and overall lifestyle would get a snarky response, but he never seemed truly bothered by them. So when the opportunity to prod at a perceived insecurity had presented itself, she couldn't resist.

The extermination came without warning. Screams of surprise, terror, and blinding agony filled the red-smoked atmosphere. And here Angel was, right in the thick of it. He whipped around one time after another, desperately wanting to call for help, but his throat made no noise. He whimpered pitifully as a shadow began to loom over behind him.
