After the peaceful rebellion of the deviant androids, tensions are high in Detroit. Although androids have been given equal rights, there are still many humans that don't want to give up their tech, and many androids that haven't forgiven humans for the slaughter of so many of their people.
When devaints start dying, Lieutenant Hank Anderson and his android partner Connor are given the case. When it becomes clear that the deviants are being killed when a virus enters their systems. With the virus spreading further every day, and more androids dying, it's down to Connor and Hank to figure out who made the virus and how to stop it.

A month after the Android revolution, Connor is at a loss for what he should do with his life. He has yet to be reinstated on the Detroit Police Force and while playing with Sumo is fun, it is not the most fulfilling. Enter Hank who says that maybe all Connor needs is some friends. And so they strike up a deal that spirals out of control in a collision of emotionally confused deviants, one semi-functioning alcoholic, a dog too pure for this world, and an old man who knows true love when he sees it.

After the success of the Revolution, things are far from being over. Yes, the army might have retreated and yes, they finally might be recognized as the living beings they are, but that still doesn’t mean androids are completely free, at least not in a political way.
So after a phone call with President Warren, Markus and The Gang (now with an additional Connor) embark on a journey to Washington D.C. to start negotiations with the humans to ensure the rights of their people. Meanwhile they all try to handle their own personal issues by themselves (and later, together).
Aka political shenanigans with the gang, while Connor is trying to figure out who he is and who he wants to be. With a side-dish of him keeping in touch with Hank through the phone, which is at first just them being all buddies and cops, until it all starts bordering on being more than Just Friendly Talks In The Middle Of The Night.

The half hour bus ride home gives you plenty of (unwelcome) time to contemplate your growing fascination with your newest regular customer. You thumb the quarter in your pocket the whole way, shoulder to shoulder with androids and people since public transport had been desegregated.
It occurs to you that some of the people might actually be androids. They aren’t required to self-identify anymore, not by clothing or any other way.
The usual aversion you feel towards them is muted today. Connor is on your mind instead. He’s so straightforward, he tips the scale back to enigmatic. Every time he had come in, another question had piled on, and now all you can think about is the little quirk of a smile he’d bestowed on you, and how soft his lips might be on yours, and if he’d kiss you back.

He hates being around them, with all their fake perfection and pretentiousness. They are designed similar to humans to make it easier for them to integrate into the society, but it only makes Hank notice how different they are. They are like Barbie dolls—beautiful, but fake.
The android that lives across him is no exception.

Kacchan looks at Izuku’s hand in uncertainty. He clearly wants to stay mad, but his childish curiosity winds over as he comes closer and brings his own hand forward, flesh meeting plastic.

Like the game, the story is divided into the three perspectives of Connor, Kara, and Markus, which all intertwine by the end. Based off the canon good path—pacifist route, no deaths, and high relationship levels.

Since Connor became deviant, he keeps seeing things he isn't supposed to see, and the name of the person sending him to find the memories keeps echoing in his head, eating away at his sanity and all the android wants is for it to stop, so he can return to his somewhat normal life, to work with Hank, to help Markus in Jericho.
But he only unravels more mysteries with each riddle he solves and he isn't sure who he even is anymore. Strange things are happening and Connor is the only one who even knows about it. He has to get to the bottom of this. He never fails his mission after all. -
