Sonic had always dreamed of being a hero; a meister just like his late guardian, Longclaw. Finally passing through his entry classes at the Death Weapon Meister Academy, Sonic is convinced his dream might just come true. However, despite his speed and athletic prowess, Sonic’s boisterous and cocky attitude only seems to repel possible partners. In order to stay enrolled in school and achieve his dreams he has to find a weapon, fast.
Years after losing his meister, Maria, Shadow has returned to the DWMA in hopes of becoming a Death Scythe and getting his revenge. Unfortunately, his father, Lord Doom, will not permit Shadow to go back in the field after his accident without a new meister. Can Shadow put up with a new meister for long enough to get what he wants?
When their paths cross, will they ever figure out how to get along?

It was an easy decision to listen to Rouge, to trust her insight to the workings of the socio-emotional contracts of GUN. It was a simple plan too; all Shadow needed to do was drag Sonic to a party-- be seen beside the Hero of the world, and his own status would rise in response. GUN wanted Sonic-- And Rouge had easily predicted that they would reward Shadow for dragging the blue hedgehog closer.
It was all a ploy for money. It was all a trick to use the Hero's status for his own benefit.

As she approached the door, the knocking began again. The closer she got, the desperate it sounded.

As Maddie’s fingers grabbed the doorknob, her mind began to race. When she opened the door, she expected Carl, or Wade, or someone with a pet emergency.
What she didn’t expect was to see Agent Stone in the flesh, sopping wet from the rain, carrying an unconscious Shadow the Hedgehog in his arms. Stone lifted his arms slightly to more clearly show the alien who had threatened the lives of her entire family in less than a day, now completely and utterly helpless. Stone’s words came out in gasps.
“Please. Help him.”When Stone finds Shadow, bruised and barely alive, taking him in wasn't a hard decision. G.U.N. entering the scenario just made things unnecessarily complicated, but keeping Shadow safe can't only be something Stone is aiming for, or Shadow's fall won't come from G.U.N.'s hands, but his own.

It’s not even like it’s anything special in any way. He just likes it, that’s all. Panda Express is cheap, and it’s good. Sue him. He’s painfully aware that sounds utterly pathetic, but it’s not like he can bring himself to care. It’d be stupid, and a waste of time, to give into embarrassment. Shadow has always felt strongly, even if he doesn't always know what those emotions translate to exactly. The air suffocates him in a room too full of people. His waking dreams whisper like glaciers scraping through his mind. And to be int he presence of Sonic the Hedgehog burns like touching a supernovae.
Meanwhile, Sonic knows very well how his feelings for Shadow have developed over time. Despite being desperate to hide them, he can only watch as he is helpless the hope there might be more than an already close rivalry on the horizon.
When the two of them become trapped in the midst of a mysterious chaos anomaly, perhaps their feelings will finally have a chance at life outside of two aching heart that are not as dissimilar as their owners might believe.

Sonic turned to him with a fiery glare, shouting, "NO! We don't have any fucking chili dogs left!" He let out a wailing sob as he pushed his head back into his hands as he sat at the kitchen island.
Shadow closed the front door and walked away.
