After the events of Sonic Forces, the Resistance members find Infinite and bring him in to decide how they should deal with him. Sonic automatically shoots down the idea of imprisonment, so a different idea is put forward: rehabilitation and integration back into society. Against their better judgement and to the chagrin of Barry, their existing roommate, Gadget takes on the job. Wacky hijinks ensue as Gadget tries to navigate the struggles of rehabilitating a former war criminal, such getting crushed by mountains of paperwork and getting into fights with said former war criminal.
And on top of it all, they’re slowly catching feelings for this disaster of a man.

Nevertheless, Gadget and Zero continue their peaceful lives, enjoying being able to be together, as a couple, without a crazed scientist in their way. However, one day, signals of the Chaos Emeralds are spotted in Soleanna. Gadget and Zero join Sonic and Tails in their investigation there, and their findings grow ever more mysterious. A new antagonist appears, alongside others. Soleanna's history is revisisted, as old foes return and legends become real in front of their very eyes. They must all fight, alongside from familiar allies, to protect the dear city, and above all, to learn exactly why the country is experiencing this event.

When life is thrown into disarray by one's own actions, and when the consequences are both psychologically and physically devastating, the mobian will sooner or later face a choice that will give him the opportunity to add colors into his gray everyday life, or burn everything to the ground along with himself. This is not a story about heroes saving others. This is not a story about one's attempts to correct or heal someone. Instead, it's a story about the weight of the past's sins and the fear of an uncertain future.
A side-story to the main work "Sonic Underground (Only Better)" (for now, available only in Ukrainian), which takes place before the events of the main plot. It is also a heavy work in progress, since the original work I'm translating is also not finished. I wanted to give the opportunity for English speaking sonic fans to enjoy this writing journey with me.

And left in that destruction is the heavily damaged form of a once unstoppable Jackal, what do you do with one of the most detested villains in an organization that favors redemption? Gadget had a front row seat in learning the answer.
