    Work inspired by @Caljudai on tumblr's submission for Ecto-Implosion '23.

    Fighting ghosts, fending off the GIW, and avoiding is Kingly duties (because he absolutely is not the Ghost King), is taking its toll on his life, both at school and at home. Danny is overworked, overstretched, and needs a break. Not that he will take one willingly. His coping mechanism? Deflect and power through it.

    So when Casper High's Community Service and Outreach Day rolls around, Danny is thrilled to have a day where he has a genuine excuse to just do something easy without the risk of failure or ghost shenanigans. His choice for volunteering, an animal shelter, promises a day filled with animals who have zero expectations and just want some attention.

    At least, that was what Danny hoped. When a chance encounter at the shelter results in a very tragic outcome, Danny decides to deal with it the same way he's been dealing with all his stress, by ignoring it and pretending everything is fine.

    This only works so well, until that chance encounter decides it won't be ignored. And well, its very hard to ignore a large glowing green cat who just won't stop following Danny.
