Summary
Castiel had thought when he finally let himself feel the sun of his happiness warm his face he would simply cease to be. He would go to the Empty and he would relive his regrets one-by-one in an eternal, drugged slumber. It would be agony, sifting through all those painful memories like flipping the pages of an endless photo album. But it would have been worth it, knowing that he’d completed his task. That he’d saved Dean Winchester.
And yet… And yet, that’s not what’s happened.
Castiel doesn’t go to the Empty.

On Earth, Sam is settled with a wife he adores and a little boy he thinks the world of, getting visits from Dean. However, after dying on a hunting mission gone wrong after the fight is over with Chuck, and it's just them doing their own thing, Dean finds himself behind the pearly gates, but is in for a few surprises. Summary
Alternate storyline to Inherit the Earth and Carry On, based on the Lord Huron song and is best while read while listening. Aka, a love letter to Castiel.
I started listening to The Night We Met by Lord Huron, and this storyline would not leave me alone until I wrote it down, so here I am, unable to do a non-song-related fic.
The end might be a tad weird because I was only getting a vibe about where the story should end instead of the actual plot. This story comes with a playlist

Summary
Fixing the Earth was a good start to the eternal godhood of Jack Kline - impressive and absurdly easy. Then he tries to fix a second problem and finds the limits of his supposedly unlimited power. What is a baby God to do? Ask his dad.
Castiel is back from the Empty and (temporarily) stuck in a Heaven that is more cracks than structure. He's embracing his new role as Jack's advisor (which he's definitely NOT using as a distraction from the consequences of his own actions). Dean Winchester is going through life in the Bunker on autopilot, trying to simultaneously process years of pent up emotions while also not thinking about any of it at all to avoid a complete breakdown. He knows Cas will be back soon and he's on a deadline. Adam Milligan is miserably holed up in a motel with bad takeout, a cell phone Sam keeps calling him on, and a rushed not-quite-promise from a scrawny blond kid that he really needs an update on, like, yesterday. And Sam Winchester, well, he's absolutely fine. No problems here! Until the demons show up.
*This is a more light-hearted fix-it, keeping as close to canon compliant as I was willing to go. Emphasis on setting poorly handled plot lines off in more positive directions.*

Summary
“Hey!” Dean wriggled out of Cas’ grip and hip checked him. Sam rolled his eyes at the display and looked at Jack again,
“So, what are you gonna do to heaven?”
“Working on it, I wanted Cas to help. I’m only three anyway, don’t totally know what humans need.”
“What do y’a need me for?” Cas asked grabbing a plate of bacon and putting it on the table, he gestured to the stack of plates and silverware next to him and raised an eyebrow. Jack sighed theatrically and started to set the table.
“Rebuilding heaven.” Jack rolled his eyes, sighing again at having to repeat himself so much.
“Of course I’ll help, what are your plans?”
They sat down to breakfast and continued chatting, all four of them planning out a new and improved heaven.
Soon they’d have to plan for when Cas left for the trip, Sam thought about how Dean would handle that, only half paying attention to the conversation.
