“I’m really glad he has you,” Tiff says. “Richie is… well, Richie is something else. He’d fight the whole world for you if you asked.”
“Probably even if you didn’t,” Syd adds. Tiff laughs. “It’s not actually like that, though. Richie and I, we’re not…”
“I know,” Tiff says. “But Richie watches you all the time. It’s like he’s just checking to make sure you haven’t disappeared. When we were at the park the other day with Eva, he talked about the roast beef sandwich you made for him for, honest to god, fifteen minutes. He described it in meticulous detail, Syd. Like, serial killer level detail. Upon reflection, he might just actually want to murder you for your teeth or something.”
Syd barks out a laugh. Tiff is funny, and she’s saying… Syd doesn’t know how to process what she’s saying, and she doesn’t even have the decency to look at her while she’s saying it because she can’t stop looking at Richie. He’s stepped off the dance floor and grabbed his beer, talking to Neil animatedly. His cheeks are pink and there are crinkles at the corner of his eyes as he smiles. He’s fucking beautiful.
