“Until it’s not enough,” Tommy spits, because he knows how it’s going to go.
They’ll dangle Nook just out of reach and offer to give him back as payment and then they’ll keep moving the goddamn finish line.They’ll promise and they’ll pretend and they’ll hound Tommy for answers as long as he keeps giving them, before realising that torture or straight-up beating the answers will be far more effective, because Tommy can hate the Human Race until the end of his existence, but he’s not a creature without fear, and his nanobots won’t be able to fix everything, and they only have to break him so much—
“Go on then. Ask your fucking questions.”
Or: Tommy is going home. One way or another.

“That was me saving your life,” Philza grinned, having already taken a wide step back before Techno could take a swipe at him, throwing glances down both ways of the street they’ve ended up on, pasting on an easy smile for any passerby that thinks to glance their way. “And you haven’t even offered me a thank you.”
“You didn’t save me,” Techno hissed, rolling his eyes, trying not to get caught up in Philza’s pacing. “You just happened to fall on a man that thought he was mugging me. It was a coincidence. Nothing more.”
“Still saved you,” Philza muttered beneath his smile, but the petulance of his tone told Techno he was only pulling his leg, falling back into the playfully banterous way they’ve built up their somewhat-friendship over the years.Or: Technoblade is still trying to figure out whether he and Philza are friends, while bird-man is speed-running his Found Family arc.

“What are you planning on making?” Tubbo asked, and Tommy could see him glancing at him from the corner of his eye. Of course Tubbo would side eye him while trying to gather information. Chayanne and Tallulah were whispering to each other, glancing towards the oven with hungry expressions.
“A surprise.” Tommy responded, laughing as Tubbo pouted. “Boo-boy, keep him outta the fridge? He’ll try sneak a look.” Tommy pointed at Ranboo, who only smiled and nodded. Tommy could only hope that they would actually keep Tubbo out of the fridge and not try help him figure out what Tommy was baking that night.
Tommy was quick to disappear further in the house, trying his best to escape the smell of cinnamon and nutmeg, disappearing to his room to sleep before dinner for a bit.

There is something terrifying about meeting someone like him. Someone who mirrors his grasping for knowledge. There is something new but familiar about the look in the other boy's eyes. And there is a glint in them that tells him that the boy knows it too.
