Obedience to the best of his ability, right up to the line in the sand where compliance becomes dangerous. He has to walk that line—sometimes, he has to dance on it—but it’s not like he has a choice. Sam’s knees buckle a few feet away from the Impala, and Dean barely catches him before he hits the ground. “Deeean,” Sam whines as Dean tugs him up again.
“Shut up,” Dean mutters, leaning Sam against the car to open his door. Sam teeters dangerously to the side and Dean has to grab him again so he doesn’t end up on the concrete. “Dude, you’ve never been this drunk before,” he says. “Fucking hell.”

Or, Dean finds Sam wasted alone at a bar and hauls him home, terrified when his brother starts showing signs of alcohol poisoning. But did Sam really just overindulge that much? Or is something else going on?

He stares back, tries not to find it intimidating to be glared at by some old guy who doesn’t even look like his dad that much – not really – and is apparently the brother Adam didn’t even know he had until he was ten.
“Ran away?” Dean looks over to Jim, and Adam’s never seen a priest wilt before. “I thought lying was a sin.”Adam's dad just died, but that seems to be the least of his problems.
