Summary
Gods once upon a time lived peacefully in the realm, ruling fairly. Lord of Light ruling the day. Maiden of Night over all is dark. Others living in their own parts of the kingdom. All was well until the Lord and Maiden bore two children. One of blood, one of bone. The two young godlings were inseparable. Unfortunately, when visiting with the humans, the god of blood was stolen away.
This raised the deities into an uproar, demanding their child. A foolish king refused them.
Now the land lies in ruin. The gods taken to their own land, reviled by humanity with judgement to match. The lands of Esempi are in ruin. Humanity hiding behind their walls with their kings. Monsters and beasts roam the earth freely.
Only the Tarnished, blessed (or accursed) undead, walk among these lands guided by the remnants of grace of the gods to write the wrongs left behind. To usurp these unjust rulers and restore order to their once vibrant land.

That was weird. He idly thinks, pouring the finished coffee into his mug, Maybe I have tinnitus. That would fucking suck.
The likelihood of him having tinnitus is pretty low, so he just brushes it off as him hearing stuff because of lack of sleep. Sapnap heads back to his bedroom, yawning and rubbing his eyes with his spare hand. He turns his bedroom handle awkwardly, being extra careful not to spill his coffee, and kicks the door open with his foot.
"Watch it, idiot. You almost hit me."
Sapnap drops his mug in complete shock because there, right in front of him, in his fucking room, is a man that he can only call ethereal. A very angelic looking man who has a British accent and was definitely not in his bedroom before just called him an idiot. In his bedroom.
"Okay, here are five easy ways to help you fall asleep. Method one is—"
"Are you reading me something that's on fucking wikiHow?"
— Where Sapnap can't sleep and George is a God who wants him to sleep.

Summary
One thing George had learned over the course of working and interacting with pure-blooded deities was that they had past lives, and they remembered their past lives. Those who were born as deities were something special in their past lives. This didn’t apply to the mortals, who were simply immortalized once they became deities.
It was a chance thing, really. Chance or fate. Deities from Earth were chosen based on absolutely nothing, and George had just happened to get chosen as a replacement for the Moon deity. The Universe had nine minutes to replace the Sun and Moon that loved, and George was so conveniently placed in Brighton where it chose from.
He couldn’t tell if he lucked out, or if he’d accidentally walked under a ladder on the way to school that day.
Or, George is a half-mortal Moon deity chosen by chance, and he's almost certain that he recognizes his godly coworker.
Turns out, the feeling's mutual.
