“Oh, no, Miss Cesaire,” the man drawled, “I nearly witnessed the most trivial logical error that can be made and was amused by it,” he explained.

“That’s not what I meant, you idiot! Don’t you dare tell him that!” The girl exclaimed in feigned indignation, but the grin on her face wasn’t at all scolding, so Adrien was terribly impatient to find out who she could be talking to in such a manner.
“Mari…” he called timidly, but curiosity was simply choking him by this point, “Who are you talking to…?”
Marinette took her hand away from her eyes and looked at him with slight surprise, as if she had just noticed him, although she had said hello to him before. Scratch that, she was literally talking to someone about Adrien right now, so the fact that she had managed to forget about his presence seemed somehow especially painful.

She stopped in the aisle by Adrien's desk and Felix thought that of course she had brought something for the Parisian supermodel, as if the pompous gifts that Lila not so secretly supplied him with every day weren't enough. But for some reason the heroine was in no hurry to put the gift on his cousin's desk, but looked at Felix thoughtfully, as if she had forgotten why she had come here.
“You know, when your secret friend asked me to bring you a gift, I didn’t think I’d meet you in person,” she mused, still lost in thought.
“But now that we’re both here,” the girl continued, slowly stepping towards him, “I could give you another gift…” she waved a small box in front of his face, “...instead of this one.” And Ladybug came close to him, rising on her tiptoes, obviously for a kiss, but froze in place, her face close to his. “If you still want to give me a little courage, of course…” she whispered almost into his lips, showering him with the pleasant smell of coffee and dark chocolate.

He had already raised the glass to his lips, about to take the last sip and call a cab, when his hand was intercepted and the glass was brazenly pulled out of his palm.
Marinette tipped back the glass, pouring the rest of his cocktail into her mouth, and turned to the guy walking past her. “Hey, could you hold this for me?” she asked with a charming smile, which she knew how to use perfectly now that she was no longer the same naive, modest schoolgirl with whom Felix once argued in class.
“Shall we dance?” she asked, more like a statement, already leading him towards the dancing mass of people, behind whose backs in the distance he could see the head of the DJ with his headphones shifted from one ear.
Felix couldn't help but smile at the sly heartbreaker that he seemed to have made out of Marinette himself, and let her drag him wherever she wanted, because now that she was next to him, all his irritation quickly melted away, and that feeling of quality time quickly enveloped him right here, in the middle of a noisy crowd, simply from the very fact of her presence.

Felix gets the impression that somewhere under the table on her lap is his dossier, which she already knows by heart, although from only two phrases she told him, he shouldn’t even be that cautious.
Marinette reaches for Adrien’s glass, and Felix involuntarily frowns, wondering if she’s going to drink his cousin’s cocktail, and how close this friendship of theirs is, and what’s even going on, because she takes a straw out of the glass, not taking her eyes off Felix. “Let’s see how fast you get your bearings,” she mutters, licking her lips and lowering her voice so that the sound somehow immediately goes like a hot discharge straight into his pants.
Felix doesn’t immediately understand what she’s up to when Marinette dabs the wet end of the straw on a napkin and opens her purse. Felix watches, mesmerized, as the girl takes a stapler out of her purse and, squeezing the end of the straw, pinches it with the stapler so that the staple blocks the entrance of the liquid into the straw.
“Hey, can you hold this for me for a moment?” She asks nonchalantly as she hands Felix a stapler across the table.

“No way!” Felix protested, walking over to snatch the shirt from his cousin’s hands with a suspicious look at Adrien’s T-shirt, a playful bright purple color. “I have enough shirts of my own, thank you very much! Why do I even have to go there? You can’t hear what people are saying in a club…”
Nino cocked his head to the side curiously. “You think you can still meet someone based on their first words these days?” He asked with interest.
Adrien smiled softly and crossed his arms over his chest. “Oh yeah, Felix is a romantic!” He confirmed with warmth in his voice. “He’s never even shown me his soulmark.”

Felix shook his head. “I never told you I was Adrien,” he said calmly. “You assumed it yourself, only because I borrowed some clothes from him.”
“But you put them on purpose, to pretend to be him!” She argued, not believing that he denied his guilt when it was so obvious.
“But that doesn’t mean I lied to you,” Felix countered. “What I did was to let you assume.”
For a moment Ladybug was speechless from such impudence. “Fine!” She finally exhaled. “And what about ‘I’ve always been in love with you’ then?! I didn’t assume these words, you actually said them!” She demanded. “Are you gonna say that you didn’t lie here either?!”
Felix remained silent, simply looking into her eyes and saying nothing.

She intercepted him just after a rough fight between Argos and Chat Noir a couple of rooftops from his house, so he already knew that today she would be especially diligent in pretending that there was nothing between them, and that if something happened, it was an isolated incident and would never happen again—otherwise she would have waited until he returned home and climbed right into his bedroom window later that evening.

She tries not to think about the fact that when she looks into the eyes of the boy she likes, despite the fact that she is attracted to him, it feels like something isn’t right. Adrien is kind and handsome and a good friend, and of course she has no choice but to have a crush on him, so thinking about the strange feeling of wrongness makes no sense.
