Summary
One day, on a foraging trip at the edge of the forest, Bdubs noticed something. A movement amidst the trees, a shift in the air, the faint scent of something that didn’t belong. Like cheap cologne and redstone dust.
And he let it be. Because this person was not threatening his home, Bdubs did his foraging and left him alone. But, strangely, he found him there the next day too, sitting at the base of a tree and tracing patterns into the dirt. The day after, the strange man hadn’t moved, acting like that of a trapped animal the way he paced back and forth, never doing much, always radiating…distress.
Bdubs didn’t care. He knew these people all moved on eventually.

They began to tire of the city, all the drama, the hero-worship, the hate, the discrimination. All they wanted to do was pack up, take their roommate and just screw off somewhere across the globe. But before they even got the chance to start to save up, tragedy struck.
But fate had different plans for them, and maybe with this chance in her hands, she could make people listen to her. To purge this rotten city of it's filth by tearing it from the core. She would not be hurt again.

The dark oak woods surrounding the town housed dangerous creatures. Some real stuff like wolves, poisonous bugs, bears, snakes, spiders, ticks, mosquitos, that kind of stuff.
But these woods were also rumored to hold more perilous wildlife, Wolf-people, zombies, reanimated skeletons holding bows and arrows, Faeries who’ll take your name and soul, goblins that steal your wallet and dragons that can burn you to a crisp. Some say that those who go too deep, never come back.
Joel Tay-Beans knew that those rumors were bullshit.
Or...
Joel goes into some definitely not enchanted woods and makes only good decisions, does not fall in love with a fairy queen and does not become indebted to her.
Jimmy is definitely not dating the mayors missing son who is definitely not best friends with a werewolf. The two of them do not do anything illegal together.
Grian is a human who lives in town and is not hiding anything, so don't ask. He is not dating an arsonist and does not help him with arson or running a business.
They've been friends for years and have no secrets between each other.

His tail responded almost immediately, flicking with subtle arcs that brushed along his thighs and the mattress beneath him. The tactile connection of fur to flesh, leather to skin, and strap to muscle created a layered symphony of sensation that pulsed with every heartbeat. Each subtle twitch of the tail pressed the base against the mattress, sending a faint, continuous friction across the harness, a reminder of the precise alignment of every strap.

Etho wanted to complain, but he wasn’t able to bemoan his circumstances. No one around here could. Not in this world, in this seemingly endless dystopia, where they were always fighting, just...always fighting. Enduring. Opening their eyes with no reason other than to close them again.
It wasn't enough...but could they build more? Maybe not to take it themselves...but at least some sort of high road.

“Of course.” Scar says, a soft smile evident in his voice, “Come on down.”
He sees the faint outline of Etho climbing down from his bed, moving in the dark before the bed dips as Etho climbs in, laying on top of Scar.
The fox hybrid lays, resting his cheek on Scar’s chest.
