4. Any combination of aforementioned conclusions.Gwen rolls her eyes and hits him over the head when he mentions it to her, Lance looks at him like he’s particularly dense and Gwaine laughs for a good five minutes.

Meeting your girlfriend's brother is always going to be a little nerve-wracking, but when your girlfriend is running late and you have to meet him by yourself, and to top it off he's a blacksmith...
“Meeting a date?” Gwaine asked with a wink, passing Arthur’s pint across the bar.
“Of course not. You know I’ve already got a girlfriend.” Arthur gave Gwaine a withering look, holding up a five pound note. Gwaine plucked it from his fingers and sidled to the till.
“Yeah, but you’re nervous so you’re not meeting her,” Gwaine surmised. He handed Arthur his change.
“I’m not nervous.” It was a blatant lie, he was terrified. Gwaine shrugged, clearly seeing straight through Arthur.
“Who you meeting then? If not a date, why so fussed about your hair?”
“I’m meeting Gwen’s brother.”
“Ooooh, the girlfriend’s brother…” Gwaine groaned sympathetically. “That sucks.”
“Yeah.” Arthur took a gulp of his ale. “He’s apparently very protective of Gwen and he did not like her last boyfriend.”
“Do you know anything about him?”
“Only, get this, he’s a blacksmith. A fucking blacksmith. So he could definitely beat me up if he wanted. And then burn the body,” he muttered dramatically. -

Merlin had thought he could handle this.
It had all made sense a few months ago: Arthur was King, Magic was legal and they were in love, but Camelot needed a legitimate heir. There would be little point in uniting Albion if it dissolved into civil war once Arthur passed on.
So here Melin was, seated by Arthur’s side in full royal finery and staring at a plate of food that his queasy pregnant stomach couldn’t handle. His feet hurt, his head hurt, and he had to just keep smiling along like a good monarch when he was dying inside.
