Summary
Haymitch Abernathy wakes up drunk as always on the day of the 74th reaping. He gains two new souls, fated for death. Katniss, the daughter of his late ex-best friend and Peeta, a boy whom Haymitch vaguely knew. He tries to keep his distance, to not fall in love with them and be destroyed all over again when he has to go back home alone, but he can’t help himself.
Hey guys… don’t pay attention to my other two unfinished fics 😭😭 anyway I’ll write this for however long my hyper fixation lasts so no promises 💔 but it’s a retelling of the hunger games book through haymitches point of view!
I’m not sure if this has been done before but whatever I just need to improve my writing skills :)I read all of the books and have seen all the movies, but I prefer to stay true to the book for there is more info <3 I’m sorry if there are grammar problems, I usually write late at night and I have school in the morning so I might type faster than my brain can process mistakes sorryuyy

So when her name is called during the Seventy-Fourth Reaping Ceremony, Madge is as ready as she can be. She takes the route to the stage that avoids her father, she steels her features just as practiced, she drowns out Effie Trinket’s exclamation of her fellow tribute’s name. Madge is prepared, and being prepared means being as detached as possible.
What Madge hadn’t prepared for was the low voice of the boy who hates her most to ring out through the square, desperate to volunteer in his younger brother’s stead. Because of fucking course Madge has to go into the arena alongside Gale Hawthorne.
She really should have seen this coming.

Aziraphale and Crowley are victors from different districts, 3 and 6 respectively. Aziraphale is a bit naive when it comes to the mind games going on around him but intelligent in his own right, getting into Capitol university after the Games. And then working directly for the Capitol in a lab. Crowley's a Capitol whore, a beloved victor who is in high demand after his own Games with no one left but his 'fans.'
They become friends. And then they become more. Aziraphale doesn't know why Crowley won't put a name to it and Crowley doesn't know how Aziraphale could be so stupid as to believe the Capitol will ever let them be happy together. He won't be the reason Aziraphale is killed.
And then they both are reaped to fight in the Quarter Quell. And only one can win.
