“I know we don’t really talk ever, so I’ll try and make this as quick as I can. Julian explained to me that whatever you and him have going on is supposed to be a secret, because it’s new, I guess.” O’Brien shrugged. “Doesn’t really matter to me why, but you can trust me not to go gossiping to everyone about it, if that’s a concern.” He said, and Garak had no reason to doubt him on that promise, “Just that he clued me in because I could tell something was up, so it’s not like he was blabbing about it. Anyway – I just wanted to let you know – y’know – he’s my best friend, so I understand how he can be – and, well, you can talk to me, if you need to.”“I beg your pardon?” Garak rapid fire blinked, as he quickly rerouted the response he had fully expected to give about ‘promising not to hurt’ Dr. Bashir, and such. As it was he had to rewind Chief O’Brien’s entire monologue in his mind and replay it in an attempt to make sense out of it, because it was so completely beyond the scope of anything he expected the man to ever say to him.

"It is, a bit," Julian confessed. "Arcades like this one haven't existed on Earth for hundreds of years. They were all upgraded to make everything sleek and holographic and pristine. But this is so much more fun, don't you think? It's so gritty and real."
"And what are those?" Garak indicated a group of very odd statuary, situated in poses with various musical instruments on what appeared to be a small stage in the back center of the room. They were just slightly larger than life-size, or what Garak supposed life-size would be, if any of these creatures were meant to accurately represent Earth creatures. He fervently hoped they weren't, or Earth was much more terrifying than he'd imagined.
"The entertainment," Julian said, with his patented boyish smile. "Come on, Garak. If you're going to crash my party you might as well play along."

Julian looked annoyed now, as he should, as the comment was barbed, but he quickly looked worried again. And somehow, Garak was still talking.
‘I’m sure your guest is expecting you back,’ he spat.
Julian looked at him steadily. ‘Guests,’ he said.
Garak’s stomach lurched. He hadn’t realised what he was saying. He hadn’t been picturing the three of them back in Quark’s; he’d been picturing Lyons, alone, in Julian’s quarters.
‘No,’ Julian said softly, ‘He’s not expecting me back.’
Garak felt the floor beginning to tip away from his feet. He needed to sit down. He lowered himself onto the sofa. ‘I am drunk,’ he said stupidly. -

Garak has broken into Weyoun 6's quarters at three in the morning, and, unsurprisingly, the Vorta sought to defend himself. By jumping him from behind and pumping him full of an anaesthetic he previously 'acquired' from the Infirmary. When he realises it's Garak, he's aghast, frightened that the man he's got a major crush on might die. So he seeks medical attention for Garak from Dr Bashir. But things aren't so bad in the end - for two of the three of them, anyway.

A year after the Dominion War, Dr. Julian Bashir goes to Cardassia Prime on a humanitarian aid mission. He finds a world still ravaged by violence and a plain, simple tailor trying to rebuild. The more he immerses himself in the recovery efforts and Cardassian culture, the more he begins to understand about Garak. Including one very obvious fact that, in retrospect, he should have realized the first day they met.
But it’s too late for that. Surely. Besides - they have a world to save. When the dust settles, maybe then he’ll have time for personal entanglements.
Then again, maybe waiting is a fool’s game…

“Oh – you’re Ollie’s sibling-in-law?” She tilted her head at him, clearly he had not been what she expected, what with him obviously not being Keiko.
“Er, I’m just here on Keiko’s behalf. So, how do you know Ollie?”
“Oh, dear.” She laughed dryly. “I’m Gilah.”
“Ah…” Julian swallowed thickly, looking to see if the place had a bartender to distract himself with, but nobody seemed to be volunteering at the moment, which was a shame because he had just embarrassed himself in front of the bloody Bride . “So, fairly intimately, then...”
