Summary
Paya’s been a member of the Yiga Clan for almost as long as she can remember. Now, the very mission she’s been training for nearly all her life is upon her- the Hero is awake, and she’s been sent to kill him.
But that’s easier said than done. After failing to assassinate him, Paya finds herself in a bizarre situation, simultaneously the Hero’s prisoner and his travelling companion. She’s waiting for an opportunity to kill him properly… or at least that’s what she tells herself. But against all odds, the two of them are growing closer- and Paya might have to face the possibility that the mission she’s been training for all her life isn’t what she wants to do.

Summary
The concept of time had escaped Link long ago. From the 100 years he was asleep to the present, everything tends to blur together. It doesn’t make sense, so he tries to not make sense of it.
Call it ignorance, but he thought better of not realizing how much time passed. Normalcy and routine became a foundation he could grasp onto after free falling into what fate called him for the moment his eyes opened. Since then days faded to months and into years, and the more it passes, the more you tend to miss. The longer your hair grows while Zelda cuts hers shorter. The taller children get the next time you see them on few and far between visits to allies.
The less you have to think about a crush you know is unattainable, and maybe that’s why you distanced yourself all the more.
So when your normalcy and routine is quite literally ripped out from under you, along with your arm, reality of time slaps you in the face when Hyrule needs to be united once more. Even with the ability to manipulate it for however short it is, it gives him little comfort and no sense of control.

Link is used to being the strong one. His job is to be there for others, and he'd do anything for his friends, especially Zelda. It's his purpose in life, and it makes him feel fulfilled. As for his own needs, he's self-sufficient and likes it that way - he can't fathom anything different. But when the Demon King's attack beneath Hyrule Castle robs him of his strength and vitality, Link finds himself in the unbearable position of not only having to grapple with sudden and profound weakness, but also having to rely on others when it comes to his own wellbeing. It might surprise him to learn that his freinds are more than willing, able, and even happy to give him the support he needs as he works to get well and regain his strength during the course of his journey to find Zelda and save Hyrule a second time.
As of Jan 2025: NOT ABANDONED! Author is dealing with some pretty significant health issues atm. I want you lovely readers to know that I’m hoping to return to this fic soon and think about it daily!

Sidon approached Link, and all Link could focus on was the new collar the man was sporting. It was significantly larger than the one he was accustomed to and more ornate. It was a symbol of his engagement. His blue eyes drifted up away from Sidon's neck to his face. The shock melted from it and Sidon's arms abruptly shot up into the air.
"It's good to see you, my friend!"
No matter how long they'd been together, Sidon had continued to refer to him as "my friend". He had admittedly begun using "friend" and "love" interchangeably, but the term had never previously left Link feeling anything other than cherished.
When Link didn't say anything in response, Sidon's expression shifted again, concern washing across his face. "Link, is something wrong? Are you alright? What happened?"

Mipha just couldn’t wrap her head around how she plucked up the courage to ask him out after the swimming tournament mere hours ago, and the fact that she’s stressing on her clothes isn’t helping it sink in either.
Or maybe it was that text he sent her two minutes ago, saying “see ya in a bit” that was sending her mind in a frazzle.
Either way, it was safe to say that Mipha Lightscale was in a frenzy.

With Mipha incessantly on his mind within the past few months, nothing could mask the fact that Revali was completely enamored by the girl ever since they met—albeit their first meeting being, well, less than ideal. The perfect combination of witty, awkward, timid, and cute flowing in her veins was enough to capture his attention, even so causing her to become a song stuck in his head.
