Summary
Jhin is know for crimes that are performances which turn cities into spectacles and people into works of art, all directed by him: a mysterious man behind a mask. With the help of his partner, a fellow killer who prefers to lurk in the shadows, keeping would-be meddlers from disrupting Jhin’s work, they have terrorized and inspired many over the years, granting them considerable influence and occasionally scoring Jhin a few “toys”. Their system worked well, but eventually, Jhin would slip, killing a woman he hadn’t intended to kill, thus setting the stage for his anonymity to be lost to a crime-fighting duo with the rage of grief and the power to weaponize a military arsenal against him. It was rather inconvenient to say the least.
With previously unknown enemies from his past on his heels, Jhin must attempt to set things right without compromising what he already has. Ever loyal, Pyke will do what he can to help, but that help could only go so far in dealing with all of Jhin's enemies. Luckily, his new acquisition: a scrawny painter boy with an interesting domination kink, doesn’t seem to carry any unwanted baggage that could come back to haunt Jhin, and also seems oddly capable of helping out.

Jhin never understood how established professors could fall in love with students. Desiring them, okay, he could get behind that, there is something heady about their reverence, and the control you, as their teacher, hold upon them and their precious future. He would lie if he claimed to never fantasise about bending a particularly uptight and arrogant student over the table, or ripping the innocence of a sweet and naive boy from his body.
At least until one Lukai Hwei sat in his office, picking his cuticles and asking, if he could please have a different assignment, because painting flowers for the entire semester was dreadfully boring.

After the Crimson Dawn, Lukai Hwei was lost. Home never felt like home, and thus he felt no remorse allowing it to heal without him. Khada Jhin had left him with a question, but not even so much as a hint as to where to start looking for the answer. Armed with only untreated trauma and a need for comfort, Hwei walked. Until he came to the Navori District, and took a seat at the Lamplighter Inn's bar. It didn't take a lot of convincing for the ink mage to stick around. The drinks were delicious, the company was pleasant, and it was just enough for him to feel a little bit found. Or at least, begin to feel like he could start looking for himself. The first place he searched was in the pair of hands that caught him, the lips that kissed him, and the body that thrilled him. Maybe he's still there to this day, looking for pieces of himself in the people he meets, hoping that loving them will give him the confidence to love himself.

Hwei's eyes catch on the jutting out of Jhin's hip, the way it cuts a sharp angle into his waist. His arm is bent to hold his chin in his hand, squeezing the muscles of his forearm and bicep together. The sharp angles of Jhin's jaw and brow and nose, accentuated by the arc of the orange setting sunlight hitting him just right, casting deep shadows over half his face.
He'll have to commit this new angle to memory later, in his sketchbook.

Lukai Hwei has been tracking Khada Jhin for months, seeking closure in the wake of Koyehn's immolation. A masked fiend threatens to stand between himself the burning questions he needs answered to find clarity. How can the artist convince Yone that only he can save himself?
