He looked back at Wille. He wasn’t sure if he would accept his offer, but if he did, that would probably be the last he saw of him. The idea was painful, and Simon decided that if he had to make the hard choice, he would indulge in an easier one first.
He crawled to where Wille was, and sat on his lap, hugging him with all his strength and hiding his face in Wille’s neck.
He smelled like some surely expensive cologne and safety and comfort.Wilhelm didn’t hesitate to hug back, with just as much desperation, nuzzling his nose in Simon’s hair, and then all Simon could feel was Wille surrounding him.
It was the first time since his childhood that Simon felt protected in a hug.

Summary

“Wille, I feel like I’m gonna puke.”
“Sweetheart. . .” Wille whispered, both of their eyes falling shut. He could feel the shaky breath Simon let out against his skin. “Simon, take a deep breath.”
It didn’t matter that Wille was feeling the exact same way right now. It didn’t matter that if Simon wasn’t standing in front of him right now Wille would be the one shaking, aggressively rubbing his chest bone to relieve the pressure or biting at his own skin enough to make himself bleed. It didn’t matter that Wille would rather bury himself alive than have to face his second cousin.
What did matter was that Simon was in front of him right now, on the edge of experiencing yet another panic attack in the four days since the video was posted on the internet.

After August posts the video of Wilhelm and Simon, the two of them still have to return to school. Doing so means that they'll also have to face August. Neither Wille nor Simon is prepared for the day ahead.

The easiest way to redirect from Wille’s interest was asking him questions in return, but that was also brutal, the way Wille oozed vulnerability and bravery and honesty in a way that made Simon feel oddly disgusted.
It wasn’t exactly easy to maintain his desired distance from Wille when he kept learning more and more about him. He loved wounded creatures, and this strange ex-prince with a body covered in stories that surprised and intrigued and charmed Simon made him soften against his will.
