"Mommy, do you think I could still be a hero?" the young boy asked quietly as tears poured down his face. Inko's heart shattered as she watched her son, his shaking hand still pointing at his favorite video of his favorite hero. A big part of her wanted to go over and cry with him, tell him how sorry she was because she'd failed to pass down a quirk to her little boy. But then her senses kicked in and she realized: that was the worst thing to do right now. She wasn't going to apologize for anything. She was going to make sure Izuku got the chance to live his dream.
"Honey, I'm so sorry...that I ever made you think you couldn't."
In other words, the story that probably should have been.
Note: because of early changes to characters' stories, some will be different from canon. Also, I'm removing Mineta because I hate him personally, and writing him in would probably kill me.

Yes, this is a sad world, really, one where most love to put him through the grinder for sadism dressed up as character development, addiction to fluff, revenge, and power fantasies, or just the good ol' smut. But this story? You see, this story has one purpose and one purpose only.

He went to school and dealt with bullies on the daily, don’t even get me started on his mother.. Though Izuku decides that it is better to pretend his life is perfectly normal than actually facing that maybe his childhood wasn’t as good as he made himself believe.. Now at the age of fourteen with flashbacks of his cursed childhood with All Might hurting him, his mother “hurting” him (he didn’t believe that) and after all of the bottling up in himself to tower over that it finally started to bite back after meeting someone who actually cared for him.. He hoped.

Abandoned, living in poverty, and broken beyond repair by the people who tormented him most at school, Izuku finally thought he would hear the words he always dreamed of when a near death experience leaves him standing in front of his greatest hero. To his horror, though, All Might’s words were the opposite of what he wanted to hear.
With nothing left to live for, and nothing but pain waiting for him tomorrow, he takes Kacchan's advice. “You’ll never be a hero, Deku. You’re just a useless loser with no Quirk. Why don’t you take a swan dive off the roof and hope for a Quirk in your next life?”
And so he did.
But death wasn’t eager to give him the blissful release he prayed for. No, instead he found he wasn’t quirkless after all, and thus began his immortal free fall into new relationships and situations that might just prove after all, that just maybe, his life wasn’t so bad.

Noeru went missing after a villain's attack, there wasn’t a trace of her anywhere. Her family still had a small flicker of hope even after the police told them she was presumed dead.

Shouta’s brows drew together in concern as he watched the boy fidget, scarred fingers idly picking at his pajamas as he stared ahead, towards the wall.

“It’s just...it’s not a big deal” Problem Child mumbled quietly, his tone betraying the hurt the words had caused.
Shouta felt a flare of anger at the lie. Not at the boy, no. But at the others that had ingrained that lie into the boy’s psyche.

He trailed off with a small sigh and a shake of his head, the words dying on his lips.
