He watches in irritation as the alpha looks up at him suddenly, apparently shocked he hadn’t noticed his approach. A wide smile dawns on the alpha’s face, beaming and bright, entirely too amicable for a stranger greeting a stranger. Keith sighs under his breath. “What can I get for you?”
“Well, I was thinking-”
“I’m not on the menu.” Keith interjects suddenly, perhaps with a bit more sharpness than he should have, but his patience is wearing thin tonight. The alpha seems taken aback for all of a second, before a quiet chuckle escapes his too soft, too pink lips. Keith’s eye twitches. “You’ve only used that line three times now, it’s getting a little predictable.”

Summary
The compromise they settle on is this: Keith still gets to go to training and maintain his regular schedule with as much normalcy as possible, but when his heat gets unmanageable, he lets Shiro take care of him. For his part, no matter where Shiro is or what he's doing, he drops everything to give his omega what he needs.
Sometimes, this means knotting Keith until he cries in the middle of a meeting.
