Lambert finds himself stuck in Toussaint during his most despised human holiday. Belleteyn. He can't stand seeing the happy lovers. Just another reminder of everything that had been denied him and forged him into an angry, miserable, undesirable mutant. He'd sooner die than believe anyone could see anything in him other than violence, let alone show him love, acceptance, and real intimacy. Enter stage right a boisterous, flamboyant bard who wields his education as weapons and armor the same way Lambert wields his rage and self-hate.

Post-canon Lambert and Keira, traveling together.
She sees it as a simple arrangement for her to evade the witch hunters while also having a sort of friends-with-benefits situationship.
Lambert is dealing with the aftermath of The Battle of Kaer Morhen, including not just losing Vesemir and his family essentially disbanding, but also continuing his rapid spiral after Aiden’s death.He's stuck. Stuck contemplating his life, how meaningless he feels it is, and everything in between.
It feels never-ending, and he has to figure out where to go from here- if anywhere at all. -

“Yeah, the problem is the strange prostitute you brought to The Keep!!” Lambert exclaims, because he’d had a feeling Geralt was smitten, but apparently, he’s an idiot and doesn’t know a bad idea when he sees one if it smiles at him pretty enough.
“Hey, I’m at least a strange courtesan!” the bard calls.
(Lambert is extremely protective of the very little he has, including his brother. Jaskier is a threat to all of them, he doesn’t get why everyone doesn’t see that.)

Summary
Lambert has learned to use emotional walls instead of anger to keep others out. The only ones who were allowed in were Eskel and Geralt, his adopted brothers. Even then, he never gave them specifics of everything. After quitting a job in cybersecurity, he found himself back working in the family greenhouse where he got to put his alchemical and botanical talents to use. He got to encourage things to grow and thrive, even when he didn't grow that much himself. His walls were too comforting, too safe.
Until Aiden came along and decided to prove that walls could be grown through.
