There once was a promising Scepter—a neuron of Nous—tasked with a seemingly impossible endeavour for a machine: to calculate, not to feel or resolve, nor to emulate, but to calculate the Prime Mover of Life. It is said that, had it succeeded, organic lifeforms could no longer claim any semblance of superiority over inorganic ones. Nous THEMSELVES blessed the research and made the Scepter one of THEIR neurons, awaiting the result of the most complex calculation yet.
But what if the answer the Scepter arrived at was as irrational as Life itself?
This is just part one of my take on what lead to Irontomb's creation. Machines can't become a "bottomless well of rage" and I hated that part of Lygus' diatribes in 3.4, so I'm pretending that explanation is just Lygus being delulu.

'And to think you could be the one to get us to the fucking Olympics and this happens?! Pathetic, deliverer. I expected better.' the back of his coach disappears as Phainon sits there, watching, eyes wide with shock and honestly still stunned with what happened.
His knee ached- it was worse then an ache but he was running on adrenaline from the knee injury he didn't register he had also landed on his wrist, trying to save his fall. a quiet, broken sigh escapes him as he unties his laces, seeing as Lygus had already departed- he was glad Cyrene left before this happened but he needed his best friend.
Maybe Lygus was right. He was pathetic. Nothing he did was ever good enough compared to him. His uncle. Nanook. All Phainon could do was leave, disqualifying himself- a shameful retreat but with his two injuries, it was all he could do for now.He refused to return to the ice, a sad but firm vow he made as he left. It was freeing but right now he felt locked n a cage, feathers plucked and unable to fly into that found freedom he once dreamed of.
he was truly a pathetic deliverer compare to Nanook.
"I'm sorry, mom and dad. I think.. I think I failed you this time."

Mydeimos makes a small noise, a mix between a trill and a growl. Impatient bastard. He doesn’t dare show his face for a week straight, but the moment his meal time is delayed ever so slightly he races over in an instant. Alright, maybe that’s a slight exaggeration. The situation is a little annoying though, a fact he comes to realise as his shock slowly subsides. Phainon adjusts his grip on the bucket, shifting to the handle as he makes to toss the fish like usual. The merman repeats that strange little noise.
“It’s okay, I’m getting it now,” Phainon states, not quite understanding the source of the merman’s disapproval, “Just give me a second.”
He is not, in fact, given a second.

After the previous caretaker resigns, marine biologist Phainon is tasked with caring for Amphoreus Aquarium’s merfolk exhibit. The merfolk in question, Mydei and Tribbie, are less than cooperative. But as their time together grows, so too do their bonds.
