On the medical slab lay a poor femme, paint job a dim coloring, littered with scratches and scrapes. One optic flickering between off and on, the other dangling out of its socket, dripping fluids down the side of her helm. Her neck cables occasionally sparking, little bolts flying out as if trying to escape their fate. Her left arm was deformed and twisted, basically an Energon preztel. Her lower abdominal plate was removed, set to the side on a metal table. The mesh underneath was sliced open, intestines twitching and bulging obscenely as they continued functioning.
The quiet, barely-there sobs continued.
Ratchet simply transformed his left servo and aimed it directly at her faceplate with an almost disinterested expression. His voice was gruff as he spoke, not unkind, but exasperated.
" This time, stay in stasis."

Summary
In war, death was expected. It has never been welcome (not by most bots at least) and definitely did not become easier. Death was expected, that's why Prowl had a job, he managed the deaths, making sure that if the death is unavoidable at least it was useful. He took pride in his job, he did not want to send innocent mechs to their deaths (although who was truly innocent in war) but he understood that someone had to complete his job, and if it wasn't him it would be someone less competent and capable.
Or Prowl cant sleep at night, so instead he plans for the next battle so he doesn't have to think about all the people he has sent to die on a battle field.

The Graphic Description of Violence warning is applicable to chapters 9 and 11, but mostly chapter 12. Also, the end of chapter 39. Could maybe apply to chapter 48, but only if you squint and use a scope. Part 1/3 of chapter 54 mentions YouTube videos of human surgery and how gross/oozy they are.I added "no smut" and "no slash" to the tags not because I have anything against them, but because I can't write it and most Transformers fics seems to have it somewhere so I figured I should get that out of the way so nobody will be disappointed or anything.
-Addendum Nov 2020- I added those particular tags well before the "Exclude" section was created, and I'm not going to be deleting them.I wrote most of these years ago (like, middle-school/high-school age) and the grammer can be (I reluctantly admit) quite terrible. I will be going back to edit chapters, but it's going to happen very infrequently and take a while.
