There is a catch. Every year, they must send a bride to be paired with one of the High Priests of the Guided Faith. Charity Braddick, a woman desperate to escape the ghosts that plague her on the station, decides to become a bride.
Father Januun is loyal to the Guided Faith and has been for most of his life. He abides by their tenets, including the one that bars Guided Faith from touching other beings. Secretly, he dreams of a quiet life on some backwater planet, and training Charity to be a good bride seems like a way he can earn respect from his superiors and get there. He never could have predicted that a human woman could make him question everything he believes.
Note: I published this here months ago, but I wasn't happy with it. I am slowly editing and posting it because I do like the idea and the story, and I do want it to be read!
