Summary
The zombie apocalypse hasn’t been easy for Tommy. Meeting the ghost of his brother had been unexpected, but at least Tommy wasn’t alone anymore.

The fire burning in Techno’s hearth drives every cold ache out of his bones; Ranboo's already shed his suit jacket, and privately he’s glad of it. The - the vibes, he supposes, are calling little Boo out of the crevices of his mind, beckoning him down that spiral staircase, and Ranboo never likes the stiff, itchy jacket when he’s small.
It’s okay, though. It’s just Techno and Ranboo and Niki here, and even though it’s technically a Syndicate meeting, Ranboo’s pretty sure they gave up any pretence of getting anarchy-adjacent things done a very long time ago. Probably right about the time they migrated over from their meeting room to Techno’s cottage in the snow, actually. They’ve seen Ranboo unbuttoned, unsewn, soft-edged before; he doesn’t need to perform that put-together sharp-dressed figure for them, not when they are safe and he is safe and everything is slow and soft and sweet.
Ranboo slips around his friends. They look after him.

Ranboo was just trying to buy a new sage plant. All he wanted was a new plant. That’s it. He didn’t mean to become the only living witness in the case of a serial killer. He especially didn’t mean to forget the entire event, making him a useless piece of evidence to the police, but a useful plaything for the killer to psychologically torture. But Ranboo knows too much and the second he recovers those memories, the killer’s in trouble. Ranboo’s life depends on not recovering those memories, but the lives of the killer’s future victims rely on him recovering them.
Eight didn’t mean to get roped into murder. Honestly, they just wanted to spend time with their best friend and make him happy. So what if that was at the cost of a couple of innocent lives? Eight would do anything for Dream. Their relationship isn’t as innocent as it seems, and neither are Dream's intentions. And who even is Eight? And why keep Ranboo alive?

As his mom opens the front door Tommy’s dad drops a water bottle causing the banging upstairs to stop as a tense silence covers the house. Tommy's parents make eye contact as 4 green legs become visible at the top of the stairs, Tommy looks up just to see his dad whisper “run.”.
It all happens so fast that Tommy can hardly believe it's happening at all.
His mom grabs the bag and sprints out the door with Tommy in her arms just as he sees the creature jump at his dad hissing before exploding, killing it and Tommy's father in the process. Tommy quietly sobs into his mother's shoulder as she sprints not looking back as they run past the wreckage that was once their neighborhood.
Or: 8 year old Tommy after finding himself alone in the apocalypse proceeds to endear every human being (and even some not so human beings) he comes across and gets himself a family

Summary
Ranboo had been saved!
A raid on the auction house he and Michael had been sent to by the hunters guild, led to him and the human toddler winding up at a research station that had access to the End. He could finally go home! Search for his family! Find out who he was before… everything happened.
But— he hesitated.
He didn’t really remember anything about the End. Would it be safe there? What about Michael? The human toddler only had one eye and on cold days struggled moving his burnt arm. Was it cold in the End?
The researchers were kind and had given the strange pair a room at the station. These humans never tried to separate them, never made eye contact with him, and said they could stay as long as they needed. To heal before deciding to step into the Rift or back into the overworld.
As the screams echo down the hall, Ranboo can’t help but wonder “could he have prevented this?”

Summary
Ranboo witnesses a gruesome murder one day on his way home but by the time the police arrive, his brain’s built walls around the memory. “Dissociative amnesia” as his new therapist calls it. With no memory of the murder, Ranboo isn’t much help to the police looking for the serial killer now with ten victims. Everything is fine (aside from Ranboo’s constant panic attacks and paranoia) until he gets a letter in the mail from the killer, proving he knows where he lives. The killer plays a game of psychological cat and mouse with Ranboo and the police have to speed up the process of finding him before Ranboo recovers the memories or the killer gets bored of the games.

Dream and “Eight” are a serial killing duo who accidentally let someone witness their tenth murder. They spare Ranboo’s life to psychologically torture him and are delighted to find out that Ranboo’s completely forgotten the entire murder, including their identities. “Eight”s relationship with Dream isn’t as innocent as it seems, and neither are Dream’s intentions. Who is Eight? And why keep the boy alive?
