“What?” A small part of the can that hasn’t gone down her chute spills out of her mouth as she talks. It lands in the grass between her hooves and Ostentatia’s feet. Behind her the sounds of the party rages on from inside the house.
“I dunno. You were being all huffy and shit. It’s cool, but are you good now?”

He was never really good at understanding things. Not like Kristen with her wisdom and her gods or clever like Riz and his theories and lifetime experience as a detective. Nor was he convicted and solid like Fabian, his destiny and legacy gifted to him from a father he’s known all his life or Fig and her dedication to being as little of herself as possible. Or even like Adaine with her coming into her powers as the Elven Oracle.
But the best thing he knows, his expertise, is change. Terrifying, beautiful change.
