Summary
Donnie is nine when he first meets one of his soulmates after a childhood of loneliness. Selene is ten when she meets one of her soulmates after a childhood filled with dreaming of them. Neither of them expected the other, but there's no way in hell they're letting go now that they have each other. Five years and a noninsignificant amount of crime later, they meet a band of color-coded idiots who can't seem to understand that idea.
(Leonardo is nine when he first learns that there were supposed to be four turtles instead of three. He is fourteen when he meets his other brother for the first time. The grief somehow feels worse now that he knows he's alive.)
Alternativly: two autistic soulmates fuck shit up and act cute together while Leonardo tries and fails to get his long lost twin to come home.

Donnie's hand clung tightly to his little brother's shoulder, watching as Lichtenberg's scars traveled up Mikey's arms. Donnie’s fingers burned as he anchored himself to Mikey, his breathing sharp and chest heaving. Raph was in an injured heap behind them, his leg bent at an awkward angle. Donnie’s head ached, but he knew Mikey could do it. The universe ripped at the seams, and Leo was pulled from the clutches of the Kraang. Orange light swallowed Donnie whole as he kept a firm hand on his youngest brother.

(From the fic) I walk into the place stealthily hoping to find at least a bit of nostalgia. The place is completely wrecked only half of it is even recognizable. I turn on the flashlight from my googles scooping out the place. As I walk into a empty room I get ready to pull out my staff. I open the door and nobody's there."Splish..." Somebody's footsteps. I run to the place the footsteps came from. I see a shadow and I sprint chasing after them. My stamina was never really great as my brothers not even my dad. I never cared. But now I wish I did. My body ached as I chase him full speed not slowing down at all.
I hear a grunt from them and metal clank. They have hit the ground. I pull out my bo and run towards them.
"I have you!" I say out of breath. There's a shadow so I can't tell who it is. A bright light of a explosion comes and I look at them.

And when the world ended Mikey gathered up all the people he could reach into his arms and shielded them from the roaring tsunami that threatened to consume them all, and when the waves claimed some of the people he protected he just held tighter and refused to let the remaining ones shatter.
He has seen thousands and thousands of people die, felt when their spirits left the physical plane and went somewhere he couldn’t protect them, and with every death the fire in his chest burned brighter and brighter.
So when the resistance fell and his only remaining sibling asked him to sacrifice himself to send their last hope to the past, Mikey called upon that roaring bonfire in his chest and said, “We’re not letting anyone else die.”
