Clark Kent is fresh out of college, beginning his first job at the Daily Planet, and doing his best to blend into the city around him. It would be simple enough - learning the ropes, chasing leads, keeping his head down - if he weren’t also quietly saving people in the shadows and trying to control abilities that don’t come with a manual.
Metropolis whispers about a mysterious figure streaking through the night sky. They call him the Blur. Clark never intended to become anyone’s rumor. It happened anyway.
Bruce Wayne arrives in the city chasing those rumors, determined to uncover the truth behind the impossible rescues and the flashes of color across the skyline. He expects a vigilante. He expects a secret. He doesn’t expect Clark.
What begins as polite conversation turns to shared rooftop nights, lingering glances, and a slow pull neither of them planned. As Bruce edges closer to discovering Clark’s truth, he finds himself facing an even harder question:

"C'mon. The drive's just a couple of hours. We can make a day trip out of it," Sam says, and Rowena arches an eyebrow. "There might not even be a case. It'll be nice to get out of the bunker for a weekend."
At that, Rowena softens, relenting. After a string of back to back cases that had worn them out, it would be nice to get away from the bunker for a few days.
"Where are we going?" she asks, and Sam grins, fingers curling around her waist and tugging her close, his free hand stroking her curls from her face before his thumb dragged down the round of her cheek.
"Smallville, Kansas. There's been some weird stuff in the news, so I thought we could at least check it out. See if there's anything funky we need to investigate," he answers, and Rowena nods, humming- her hands draw his face down to hers, and they get lost in their kisses for a handful of long moments.

Now, apparently, he was also Sheriff Hickory: the proud owner of a family farm and the head of the local police in Smallville, Kansas.
In all honesty, he knew how he ended up here, though. It was the one thing Bruce Wayne, Batman, and Sheriff Hickory had in common aside from them all being a version of him: they were all fathers to a bunch of chaos gremlins.
