Summary
On the day he's set to graduate high school, Sunny decides he's got nothing left to live for. After a chance encounter with old friends, he finds himself being whisked away from the lonely life he knew as the people he was once close to try to show him that things aren't as bad as they might seem.
Basil has spent the past two years recovering. Life is hard, and he knows that better than anyone else ever could. Two years ago, Sunny promised they'd stay in touch-but then he left for the city, and Basil hasn't heard from him since.
Now, Sunny's back, and he's expected to share everything he's worked so hard for with the one person who could throw it all away.
Through the anger, guilt and despair, the two of them are able to find forgiveness.
Forgiveness and a secret fifth thing-something neither of them was looking for, and something that threatens to put their newly rebuilt relationship into jeopardy.

Reading
Off to a good start with the first chapter. Liking the "Sunny's mom not so secretly hates him" dynamic, and curious what's going on between him and his other friends (namely Basil.)
Everyone hates Sunny, especially Basil. Everyone is also pretty abrasive, which is a bit odd.
It's alright so far. Everyone is acting a bit rough and kind of out of character. I get that the idea is they've changed over the years, but most of the characters seem to have converged into being Aubrey Lite. Sunny is also afraid of crowds for no apparent reason. And he really likes puking and trying to kill himself.
Everyone randomly swearing like a sailor feels odd.
The flashbacks are nice and help fill in the story and add some emotional context and inner thoughts. Kind of draws attention to Basil's convenient memory loss though.
I'm liking it more as it goes along though, Sunny and Basil are getting a good dynamic going.

MARI'S SKILLS were named after Piano keys and notes since she isn't playable in game and has no attacks as a enemy in the Boss Rush mode.
Bossman Hero...directly inspired by BOSSMAN HERO
The Dream Friends possess inhuman abilities when compared to people in the real world. (ie. AUBREY has superhuman strength, able to lift several cars, KEL has extreme speed being able to keep up with most vehicles, HERO radiates irresistible charm.
As a continuation on HIS SKILLS, BASIL gained his own tag ability, being able to use his FLOWER CROWN SKILL to grab on to distant objects or use it like a grapple hook to climb as a few examples of how versatile this SKILL has become. OMORI is able to use his RED HANDS in a similar fashion.
FLOWER was the original concept for Basil in Omori's development who's personality would have be similar to Mari's in game, but he was scrapped for being too plain, which brings me to the next character...
ROWAN, the second version of Basil again this character on the contrary was scrapped for being much too violent and angry for the character story they were trying to make fit in. personally, ROWAN is my favorite... OMORIBOY was originally suppose to make it but was cut for just not fitting in with the story's theme.
Subject 143 remains stable inside of his containment. But it is imperative that his vitals are properly maintained or we might lose him and our only shot at the perfect future we've worked so hard for. With the Subject D-SH, or better known by her title of SWEETHEART, properly taken care of by the authorities. I believe; we can resume our research relatively unmolested. Our co-supporters, Subject D-SG-x3, MOLLY, MARINA and MEDUSA, have been hard at work to improve the machine to have prolonged uptime and the ability to safely bring in higher quantities and larger quantities of creatures from HEADSPACE with several successful results. One of these, Subject D-P or as he refers to himself as the rouge planet PLUTO, a round sphere resembling said dwarf planet of our own solar system but with large muscular arms and legs. Recently PLUTO escaped from his confinement cell (I am staring at the PLUTO shaped hole in the ceiling as I write this) and has evaded our best attempts to recapture him. Fleeing the city borders into space.
Dr. Yen has suggested that we send Subject D-CS, CAPT. SPACEBOY and his crew to pursue our lost dwarf planet.
"The latest batch of HEADSPACE creatures seems promising. Dr. Yen and Dr. Shwartz don't seem convinced about the funding idea me and Subject D-MJ, have come up with. MR. JAWSUM came up with the idea himself of starting a gambling

As uncomfortable as I was with breaking into my former patient's apartment and kidnapping him, I really don't like Yen's idea of using this fake replacement. At first she told me it was another brainwashed person kidnapped off the streets, a shut-in who looks exactly like our Sunny, wouldn't be missed by anyone, real name is Omri Boilson but that's not important anymore according to her.

POST NEUTRAL ENDING | Basil died when they were 15 instead of 16 in this!
It's only been a year since Basil's death. Sunny finally revealed the truth and started getting proper therapy. But the group would never truly forget the pain that these incidents brought forth. Mostly all of them cut contact but KELSEY and SUNNY kept in contact. Although they didn't talk as much anymore.
The three of them met again in UA. Hero was already in university so it was just Sunny, Aubrey and Kel. They remember Basil just from seeing each other, now they were classmates.
AKA; the group cut contact after Basil died, Sunny confessed but they became classmates in UA so they have to face the truth again.
