When Keith Kogane’s older brother gets a job transfer to Oʻahu, Hawaii, Keith makes the biggest decision of his life: leave behind everything familiar in Texas to finish college in a place that feels more like a postcard than reality.
The move comes with its perks. He’s reunited with his childhood friend Katie "Pidge" Holt, now deep in their studies and tangled up in a tight-knit group of friends that Keith somehow manages to fit into.
But nothing could have prepared him for Lance.
One of Pidge’s closest friends, Lance is effortlessly charming, infuriatingly loud, absurdly talented, and, unfortunately, the prettiest boy Keith has ever seen.
Now juggling school, new friendships, motorcycle rides along the coast, and a rivalry he absolutely refuses to call flirting, Keith is discovering that maybe change isn’t such a bad thing, and maybe, the most unexpected people can get under your skin in the most unexpected ways.

Summary
Lance has had close encounters with sea creatures before — fish, crabs, jellyfish, and other rather unfriendly animals that didn’t appreciate a human traversing their home. He’s never been upset when they pinch, bite, or sting; he is the trespasser. The ocean is not his home.
He’s been near sharks before but in every single instance, it was in a more or less controlled environment. The sharks were small, freshwater, and used to human presence. Experienced divers kept their noses and teeth from ever getting within biting distance.
In the split second after, he breaks the surface with his board clutched in a white-knuckled grip. All he can see now is the very tip of the shark’s gray fin coming straight towards him.
Lance just wants to surf, but it seems like a creature of the sea has different plans in mind.

“This was your day with Keith,” she stated, biting back a wince at the crack that splintered those blue eyes, “and Keith isn’t here.”
The edges of Lance’s smile turned to glass, but he just shook his head.
“Yeah, and I don’t like it,” he admitted, turning to stare up at the volcano with a sigh. “I’d rather he be surfing here with me. But we’re on an alien planet, Vee, and scans don’t pick up everything. Pidge and Bandor wouldn’t have fun on the beach, but they love volcanoes. That’s why I picked this place. And even if Pidge is an epic fighter, if something goes wrong, she should have backup. If Keith and Shiro are with her, we don’t have to worry about anything. Allura and I can cover the water if something goes wrong while Hunk mans the beach,” he continued, unaware of the slow widening of his sister’s eyes, “while Adam sends a distress message back to Coran. Poor guy, talk about a bad day to come down with a cold. But this covers all our bases.”
“………The war never really ended for you guys, did it?”

Summary
Lance, an amazing surfer who was great with people. Tall, dark short hair with beautiful skin. He was known around for his looks and flirtatious moves on both girls and boys. Then we have the amazing Keith. A bit of an out caster but an amazing person. He seemed edgy and rude but was actually just a boy who wanted affection.
The two get close at a beach party that they were forced to attend by some of their friends. From there on, their relationship blooms….but any flower can rot.

“What.”
“The KeKo Skates, skating extraordinaire from Texas who never shows his face, but we know he has fancy hair and always wears red jackets.”
Is Keith hallucinating, or did Griffin really get someone all the way out here to pretend they knew him? It was embarrassing enough last time.
The boy is still going, and Keith wonders how well Griffin paid him. “He has too many followers to count and his friend makes these super sick skating edits. You know, the KeKo Skates.”
Then the boy’s face slowly turns from expectant to horrified, and Keith can tell it isn’t a joke.
“Oh shit.” The boy says.

Summary
The stories of the Indian Ocean Kingdom and Panthalassa have haunted the kingdom since the reign of Pearl Princess Sara. A ban against human/mer relationships has been placed on the kingdom, but like the sea, when has a mer ever listened to rules? Keith broke enough of them sneaking out of the kingdom to go follow surfers under their boards, but when a Panthalassa weapon threatens to hurt Keith in more ways than just physical, he leaves to join a banished mer on land. He was expecting to just hide away until he can get answers, not to meet a human who would make him feel as safe as he did in the sea’s arms. But wasn't finding the unexpected as fun as not following rules?
