Totally fine if you have no idea of either of included fandoms and just want to read some good quality dystopian story with a lot of violence - you won't be lost, the work does not rely heavily on the reader's knowledge of these shows or the characters.
Twenty three years ago The Earthquakes hit the Earth, opening massive cracks in the ground. Since then the world has changed. Things came out - and were pulled out - from those openings, now known as "the Scars". The disaster affected the atmosphere, the environment, and life on earth; the resources are scarce. But something never changes - people need to be entertained. A mega-corporation, called Heart Enterprises, runs a blood thirsty car race, where machines run on human blood. And while taking part in the race the main characters try to deal with whatever the world throws at them as well as to figure out what Heart Enterprises really is.
