But for Tommy, it raises a lot of questions. His body has so many flowers, and they weren’t all the same flower either.

“I’m sorry,” Techno whimpers. “I’m sorry, I just wanted my brother back, we’ll leave you alone-”
“Oh, don’t be like that, kid.” Cassius runs a rough, thick hand through his hair. Techno shudders under the touch. “You’ll come around. But first… well, I can’t go givin’ people the idea that it’s okay to break in, you know? So there will have to be consequences.”
“Please.” Techno nearly sobs- does, at the sight of the knife and the glowing-hot thing Cassius takes from someone behind him. “Please, please, don’t-”

Tommy collapsed to his knees, breath hitching as pain exploded through his stomach. Every inhale felt like fire crawling up his throat.Clink.
Wilbur dropped the voice changer. The tiny device hitting the floor echoed louder than any scream.
“What’s wrong, Toms? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
Wilbur’s voice—his real voice—cut through the air. Too familiar. Too calm.“No. Fucking. Way…” Tommy’s voice cracked, each word strangled by agony. He tried to breathe, but the pain was a noose tightening around his ribs.
“Don’t worry,” Wilbur crouched down, eyes glinting with a twisted sort of affection. “You’re not going to die. Think of this as… an initiation. We all go through it. Isn’t that right, Techno?”
Another figure stepped into the light.
Tommy froze. His heartbeat went silent.
“Fucking Techno…” he rasped, disbelief dripping from every syllable.
Techno lifted his knife and gave a friendly little wave.
“Surprise, Tommy.”
This time, the voice came from the second voice changer—glowing red in Techno’s hand. -

Things like all the reasons they left their parents' house to begin with. And how his twin brother, who he hasn't seen in years, still seems to hate him. Wilbur tore his gaze away from the back of Techno’s head. He clicked his tongue, shook his head, and exhaled a shaky breath, trying not to cry. He looked around the shitty motel room. The floral wallpaper was peeling, the beige carpet was stained and smelled like weed, and there was mould in the corners and on the ceiling of the bathroom. It was a dirty place, but they had nowhere else to go. If it weren’t this motel, it would just be another, crappier one. At least this one had two beds; last time, Techno had to sleep on the floor.
But at least the last room didn't have a body in the bath.

He’d seen his friends apologize for things Tommy took for granted on the daily. Apologies for empty fridges, screaming parents, messy houses, bruises.
Like Tommy’s inconvenience was more of a crime than the actual state of his friends' lives.
It wasn’t right.
He knew what he wanted to wish for now.
And so, he paused, right before the grassy shoulder of the road turned into warm pavement. Tommy squished his eyelids closed and concentrated. You had to get the wording right of a wish, his mum always said.
“I wish I could help people who need my help.” He whispered to the flower as he cradled the dandelion in his hands carefully.
