Summary
Jon works at Claire’s. He is twenty-six years old and is the manager of the Claire’s located in Magnus Mall despite his having a degree in English Literature from Oxford. Suffice to say, he is very disappointed in where his life is at. It’s temporary, he reminds himself as he trudges into the large building labelled “Magnus Mall”. It’s just until he can find a solid archiving job. He’d thrown his lot in with multiple austere academic havens and as far as he could tell his applications were just floating around in their systems, so Claire’s it had been. Humiliating as it was, Elias Bouchard, owner of Magnus Mall and subsequently each store within, promoted him to manager swiftly. He supposes that’s better than minimum wage, so it will have to do. For now, his dreams of academic grandeur would have to wait. Jon steels himself and unlocks Claire’s.
AKA an AU in which all the characters in TMA work in a mall. Archives team works in a Claire's, Elias is the owner of the mall, and Peter Lukas sugar daddy/funds it. Also, Basira and Daisy are mall cops. Enjoy!

Martin is restless.
That is hardly new. It’d been a few days since the world changed -since Jon changed-; the passage of time is mostly meaningless in this brand new hellscape, but that does not mean it is not still felt in one way or the other.
Martin has been patient. After all but barging through the door with Jon’s name on his lips, finding him gasping for air on the floor as everything changed -as Jon changed-, Martin had been a downright saint. Holding him while everything got rearranged, tiny piece by tiny piece, smoothing down Jon’s sweat damp hair, murmuring mostly meaningless reassurances.
Martin has been understanding. Jon’s mostly quiet, these days, still trying to fit all that he is in a single container of flesh and bones. Rerouting his thoughts to work with a human brain. Testing the edges of his consciousness.

The thing about Jon was that people didn't tend to like him. It was something he'd always known about himself, and something he'd made peace with, even if it occasionally hurt more than he was willing to admit. But it was alright, it was fine, really. He'd rather just be in his own company, anyways. It was the best option for everyone involved.

At Pinnacle Aerospace, the abyss stares back at Wilbur Soot. This is just the beginning of his problems― suddenly, he's taking a job at London's least reputable paranormal institute as his life spins wildly out of control. It's the cruel introduction to a mystery he's too scared to understand and too curious to ignore, and he can't seem to shake the feeling that either way, the truth will get him killed.
Meanwhile, Jonathan Sims sits alone in his office, or attempts to restore the Archives to some semblance of function, or fails to force 'reasonable workplace practices' out of his supposed assistants, and all the while he wonders how long he can last before he begins to believe in ghosts, too.
