"Phil?" The man hummed in a vague response, eyes closed and wings resting idly on either side of him as they sat side-by-side on the worn wooden pew together. In contrast, Tommy stayed staring, glowing artificial eyes wide as he studied every intricate detail of the painted church ceiling above him. Cherubs and saints lined with uneven brushstrokes and cracking, ancient paint evenly returned his gaze, and he can’t help but marvel at how vivid the artwork was in spite of the yellow that stained it from candle smoke, gathered there from centuries of fervent worship. He wonders vaguely if he could ever hope to compare, artificial joints and scratched metal chassis already decaying past it's prime as it was, and he was only seventeen years old.
"Do you think I have a soul?"

Tommy was a God who made a new life for himself, moving on from his past and finding family in mortals where he thought it impossible. He already has two brothers, certainly he doesn't need anyone else. So why did these three other mortals seem so interested in him and how did he get them to back off?
He might not have been able to keep the fact that he was God from his brothers but he should be able to with the heroes, right? Even if he was going to be spending more time with them - what with MCC and training coming up... - it would be fine! ...Right?

He gasped for breath. Gentle hands gripped his shoulders and kept him from collapsing into the unnatural blue substance oozing onto the ground.
“Better now?” said Dream’s voice, and Tommy nodded shakily, even though the player he’d glimpsed a moment ago was definitely not Dream.
Not-Dream helped him to his feet and guided him gently away from the puddle of sick. Tommy managed a few steps before he had to sink to his knees and catch his breath.

In the aftermath of exile, Tommy starts to understand the bigger picture. Somehow, it’s far worse than he had ever imagined. And Tommy can imagine quite a lot (or maybe it wasn’t his imagination after all).

There were voices in the congregation Tommy had been raised in that the church must have uncovered something there they weren’t meant to find. Something buried deep beneath Logstedshire’s catacombs. Something hungry. Rumor had it that priests the Bishop didn’t like were sent there to satiate the beast.
Tommy hadn’t believed those rumors until he stepped foot on the jetties of the Logstedshire’s dock. Despite having been rather religious since he was young he was not a superstitious person. He didn’t believe in demons and monsters.
That said, the image of the church standing dark and imposing above the small village was certainly haunting enough for him to start questioning a few things. The church’s once pristine white walls had been blackened by what looked like a thick layer of soot, something rather unusual for a place so new. The purple crosses that were supposed to ornate its rich windows had also suffered a weird discoloration that now made them appear a reddish hue. And, worst of all, the statue of Lady Prime which had once stood proud next to the church had been decapitated. Her empty eyes were now fixed on the church’s entrance in a silent plea to whoever dared approach it to run.

Now Tubbo may not be a religious person by any stretch of the imagination, but he’s been around enough of them to have learned a thing or two about the rest of the server’s practices. He knows lots of them worship different gods, some even worship more than one, but any time he’s ever heard reference to the actual worship and prayer sort of thing it was always in terms of offerings – apples, dyes, bones, gold. Typical stuff one would leave at the altar.
Tubbo stares at Wilbur, then looks back at Tommy, who still dances in the sun-warmed grass. His arms spread out for balance as he jumps and spins, face turned up to the sun with a brilliant smile stretching his cheeks. Tommy whoops and shrieks again, laughing as he stumbles and runs up the hills just to jump back down, bell clanging the whole way.
He’s never heard of prayer like this before.
