Summary
He tries not to think too hard on it, but when he's at his lowest, he's certain he isn't built to be adored. It's gotten worse with age, with his baby fat thinning out and his shoulders broadening. The more imposing he's become, the more he's desired, but not in any way that's meaningful. He's tried to seek connection a few times here and there, but what people want from him isn't something he can manage to give.
His stature has precluded him from gentleness, from reverence and care. It's devastating, but unsurprising. He is seen, not known. Observed but never understood. What more could he expect?

Jayce struggles against Viktor’s grasp, his head is being forced backwards by Viktor’s hand on his chin, so he’s looking up at the featureless face above him.
Then, in an instant, it changes. It’s Viktor he sees- actually Viktor. The world fades away into an endless void, and he’s not staring at marble anymore. A real face, as far as he’s concerned. Viktor, but not quite. His hair is a pearly white that glows with soft colors. Jayce can feel him more like a presence, and it’s now more than ever that he can tell how much power he has.
But those eyes.
Golden eyes, ones that he’s so familiar with. Eyes that he sees in his dreams… and, admittedly, his fantasies.

Jayce doesn’t remember when living with Viktor stopped feeling like having a roommate and started feeling like this - like something too easy, too natural, too much like a life he wasn’t supposed to want forever. But he does and that’s a problem.
Because Viktor doesn’t ignore the affection. He just quietly gives it back but never acknowledges it, like it doesn’t mean something, like it’s simply normal.

"And how exactly do you, uh..." Jayce watches with only partial focus as Viktor's fingers work to screw the top of the little jar loose. "Plan on tending to your husband?" He chuffs. The downwards lilt to his tone, it's inflection, holds a double meaning: Anticipation, hopefulness for something more than clinical care.
Viktor laughs. It's more of a purr, rich and thick, laced with an eye-roll he doesn't physically give as he dips two fingers into the jar and collects a generous smear of the soothing balm onto their pads.
"Like this." He offers plainly.
