no, that wasn’t the worst part. the worst part was the thought at the back of his mind that’d been nagging at him all day. the thought that even if he was able to bring him back somehow, tommy wouldn’t want to speak to him, much less be his best friend anymore. the thought that tommy would hate him if he were to be revived, that was the worst part.

Maybe getting a job would be a good idea. Tommy shoots up in bed.
“Tubbo! I’m gonna get a job!” Tubbo groans, rolling around to face Tommy.
He rubs his eyes, propping himself up to look at Tommy. “What time is it?”
“Three. I’m going to get a job. I’m getting a job and will ultimately make us so rich we will be bathing in liquid gold. Swimming in riches.” Tommy declares, staring into the darkness.
Tubbo just sighs. He clearly doesn’t show the same enthusiasm as Tommy. But that’s okay. Tommy will get rich and show Tubbo who’s boss.
Yeah. That sounds good.
“Tommy, if you’re going to get a job you need to be well rested. Go to sleep.” Tommy thinks Tubbo is more like the fun police than a friend. Mood killer. Fun-anti. Have a good time’nt. Boring. So, so boring.

Tubbo starts singing again.
It starts small, only humming absently while he’s building or murmuring under his breath while he’s playing with Michael. It’s nothing, really- Tubbo’s always done stuff like that. It doesn’t change anything, doesn’t change the way he still wakes up with nightmares and has to stop himself from shaking when thunderstorms get too bad.
Still, though, the first sign he gets that things- that things are actually getting better is when Tubbo finds himself singing out loud.
