“Messy little thing,” his voice came down and honeyed. Then, he swept his damped bangs aside, pulled a handkerchief out of his pocket, and tapped it gently on his forehead. He tilted his head, glancing at him. In a split second, Xia Fei was filled with a strange sensation, as if the redhead could see through his soul. He felt vulnerable, exposed. A hint of doubt flashed through the blond’s eyes, and he subconsciously uttered “Who are you?”
He carefully folded the piece of cloth and put it back in his coat pocket, his facial features softened, the smile still plastered to his lips. “I am who you want me to be,” he walked in circles around him, ogling him. “Your boss, your confidant, your friend…” he whispered in the shell of his ear “...your lover.”
Xia Fei’s world has turned upside down since Vein’s death. As much as he tries to keep it together, it’s hard when his mother is dealing with a terminal disease. One day, he receives the visit of a detective who challenges him to confront his past. What will Xia Fei do? Overcome his former boss’s demise or unravel the mystery that surrounds it?

Summary
Not that it was a decision really. More like an inevitable outcome of this, of them, the type of relationship between an artist and their muse that usually kept one gripped anyway being fed by something else - a deep-seated hunger that Vein had to know more about Xia Fei, to peel him open for his eyes and his eyes only.
Muses are hard to come by. Something Vein knows well and a point that Xia Fei is not entirely afraid to draw on when trying to convince Vein to let him help with his personal project.

Vein positioned one of Xia Fei’s arm onto his waist. The other intertwined with Vein’s. Raised comfortably. Vein had his hand on Xia Fei’s upper arm, the same arm that he used to pull Xia Fei out of the main room until here.
The lights above them shined Xia Fei’s face. Even when it’s bruised, even if it’s battered and unfixable, Vein would cherish it and hold it on his palms forever.
Vein smirked. “You’ll take the dominant role.”
Xia Fei shook his head. “What— I can’t—”
“You can. And you will. Just follow me and the rhythm. If it’s too fast, tell me to slow down.” For a moment, he brushed the back of his finger against Xia Fei’s cheek. “Do you trust me?”
It knocked Xia Fei away. He nodded. “I do.”
Or, after getting a bruise from falling down in his drunken state, Vein agreed to teach Xia Fei how to dance.

This is inspired by a twitter post I saw (I think it was on twitter, may have been tumblr tbh). It was that Xia Fei's gun was a gun that was supposed to charm whoever was shot with it, but little did he know, it was actually a toy gun. When Xia Fei met Vein, he shot Vein with the gun, and since Vein acted unlike what Xia Fei expected a dragon to act like (read, not eating him), Xia Fei assumes that the gun worked when Vein actually had just already liked Xia Fei.

A dark chuckle. Vein glances at Xia Fei’s sleeping face. His cheeks puff out. His lips part. His eyelashes glow under the passing streetlight. It’s adorable, almost. Like a mouse unknowingly sleeping on a cat’s fur, near where the mouth is, fangs open.
“How brave,” Vein comments.

No one knew what changes happened in the timeline to alter the certainty of an event as certain as death. Because when the past changes, so too will the future.
In other words, Vein throws a wrench in the timeline's gears and becomes the thread that binds Cheng Xiaoshi to life. Feat. Childhood friends who got separated Veinshi being reunited in Yingdu.
MAJOR SPOILERS FOR YINGDU ARC EPISODE 4!! VeinShi Endgame!
