“I’m looking for a place to race!” Mel called over the roar of the water, ankles crossed pretilly beneath her. Everything about her was almost painfully pretty, the scrunch of her eyes behind her sunglasses, the honey-blonde shine of her hair in the hot Ohio sun. Like something you could eat. -

Summary
"Once a year, like a bad zombie movie, a shambling mass of dead-eyed day-shifters drag themselves to the PTMC an hour early to be lectured on hospital policies and standards.
It seems almost counterintuitive that people who agreed to years of extra school just to reach residency would consider a lecture to be one of the worst days of the year, but alas, such is the power of hospital administration, cursed be their names."

It's HR policy day and Frank is looking forward to having a normal time, playing footsie with Mel and not taking any notes. Hopefully there aren't any surprise questions that force him into the hot seat...

Summary
Perhaps Frank should’ve always known this; he and Mel worked in an equilibrium, balancing each other out in all aspects.
And perhaps Frank should’ve known all along, because he was getting better.

Summary
A slip of paper fell out of her locker when she opened it, getting ready to leave work. She picked up the note, and it read:
Dear Mel,
I miss you.
The scrawl could have been anyone’s—she couldn’t meticulously decipher it, but she knew. She knew who the note came from, nevermind the fact that it didn’t have a signature. With her own paper pad and pen, she wrote to him:
Dear Langdon,
I miss you too.
Slotting the note into the slats of his locker, that was the start of it.

Summary
He’d been drawn to her from the beginning, even that first day. The other students had their gifts, but Mel’s enthusiasm and utter competence on the floor was like no one else’s. She was special. Seeing her treated badly when she was just trying to do her job upset him, even if he couldn’t find the words to say as much out loud.

“Think you’ll ever get married again?”
The question came from Abbot, directed straight to Frank alone. The smug smirk on Abbot’s face as he stared across the table at Frank made that clear. That and the fact that Frank was the only person at the table who had been married before, besides Abbot himself.
It should have been a throwaway question.
Yet there was a right and wrong answer to this question.

Summary
‘What’s the matter?’ Frank asks from beside you, your arms touching.
‘Just… headache.’
‘I can help with that. I know a remedy for headaches.’
‘Yeah? So do I. You know I’m a doctor too, right?’
‘An orgasm. Multiple, if possible.’ You gawk at him. Your mouth opens in honest shock with the corners of your mouth upturned. You’re thoroughly amused but… he’s getting bold. To be honest, you thought he’d dropped this after the first mention.
‘Relieves migraines, better sleep, helps with cramps, and helps to satiate excited boyfriends, too.’

Your boy’s back. Hope the reunion’s everything you hoped for. - Samira <3
Mel smiles, because of course Samira would write her a note about Langdon’s imminent return. She scans the floor again, as she had done since she got there, looking for him. She scans past the locker room, but a movement calls her back. Walking out of the doorframe-
“Dr. Langdon!” Mel does a small jump, her feet beginning to move forward, then thinks better of it and stays still. He looks over to her and smiles, and her grin widens. He makes his way over casually, but Mel notices he’s walking a bit faster than usual.
“Hi.”
“Hi!” She moves to form a hug, stopping with her arms slightly spread out, before pulling them back into herself and opting for a small wave and high five instead. “Er, um, hi.”
He laughs lightly before he pulls her in for a hug. “I missed you Dr. King.”
“I missed you too.”
