Need Advice? I can give some.
Please be aware, that this is simply my take on the subject, (my own personal opinions) | It doesn't matter if I'm right or wrong on the matter, nor does it matter if everyone agrees with me or not. You be the judge of whether or not my words are helpful to you, in any way at all. | This is from my point of view, from the many years of both reading and writing stories.
If it helps, then, I'm glad I could be of service! (^-^)
If not, then, feel free to find one of the other stories out there, that hands out advice on the subject.[Ironically this is a Non-Fiction story to help Authors who are writing Fan-Fiction. Lmao]

An International Guide to Writing Characters Who Smoke by QuinnAnderson
Fandoms: Original Work
13 Aug 2014
Tags
Summary
An American friend of mine recently asked me for some Brit-picking tips on differences in smoking language/culture between America and England to be used in her Sherlock fic. I thought I'd go ahead and write a guide, including my experiences in other countries and some writing tips for how to portray characters who smoke. Much of this comes from personal experience, and it's not intended to be encouragement to smoke. Rated Teen and Up for swearing and talk of underage smoking.

Bookmarker's Notes
I cannot convey in words the perfection of this primer (though, obviously, I'm going to try). If you can't understand what's going on with all the Omegaverse fics that keep popping up fucking EVERYWHERE? This is a helpful (and hilarious) introduction to the trope. If you've read and enjoyed a few, and you're maybe even thinking about writing one of your own? This is for you, too--especially as it includes a handy Worldbuilding chapter! (Which, in my dreams, would be its own AO3 tag for any Omegaverse fic, giving me the ability to screen out the authors who haven't at least looked that section over.) And, hey, even if you're ass deep the Omegaverse--hell, even if you're the muthafuckin' Patient Zero of A/B/O stories--you'll still want to give this a look, if only for the brilliant combination of keyboard-ruining humor and intelligent meta.
If I quoted all my favorite bits, this note would be 17 paragraphs long, so I'll limit myself to just one perfect line: "The omegaverse is a gordian knot of consent issues." Damn skippy. (Jesus god, I could write pages psychoanalyzing why I normally despise dubcon and straight up can't handle graphic rape scenes, but I still find myself in the mood for some good Omegaverse fics, every so often.)
So, yeah, in case it wasn't clear, I'm in love. I want to bond with this primer and mate during my heat so I can bear its hilarious-yet-insightful assbabies.

Summary
A moderately in-depth analysis of the psychological effects of events which would be expected to drastically alter a person or characters relationship to their body, including factors relating to acceptance and likely effects of varying levels of body change acceptance. Written from a Cognitive Behavioral Theory viewpoint, but I’ve tried to make it as generally accessible as possible. I’ve used the MCU Avengers Phase 1 as my primary point of reference with occasional references to other fandoms and no Phase 2 spoilers.
I plan to update this when/if my theory develops further, or to respond to questions from anyone who has them.
EDIT: There's a YouTube video now! It covers much of the same material, but not all. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ftJeQ8jRKM&t=1132s

There are some great quick-and-dirty guides to HTML on A03. This is not one of them - it is a comprehensive guide
It's now 2025, a decade later. A03 supports some new HTML and and we're all walking around reading fic on supercomputers that fit in a jean pocket. It was time update this and take a crack at finishing it. (Links and Images are in, the new Audio and Video tags are not.)
The previous three chapters have been divided into smaller concepts. Each tag continues to have - at a minimum - a link to the w3schools page about it (so you can learn more), a code example, and the result of the code example. Most tags have their attributes, things like [src] or [title], listed and examples of how using the attributes modify the tags.
There's a chapter on Bad Ideas, including how some of the archive's default CSS is available to you to format your work (users can't turn that off by hiding a workskin!)
Oh. And I added a bunny army. You could learn how to add one too.
