At the mention of his name, Ratio stills, a light startle in his step as he turns to face Aventurine. He drops his hands, lacing them back together in front of him. He looks dazed, normal intensity lost from his eyes as they open glassy and vacant. They flex wide with recognition, but he doesn’t say anything.
Ratio goes quiet, and Aventurine doesn't know what to do.

Wriothesley walks in before the Iudex is able to hide or come up with any sort of contingency plan – he just freezes on his desk, eyes wide on the approaching form of the curious Duke. The man briefly looks around – no doubt searching for him – before locking his gaze on the otter. “Hello there, my good sir,” he greets, hands on his knees to reach Neuvillette’s height, “Would you happen to know Monsieur Neuvillette's whereabouts?”
Oh, precious Duke; otters cannot speak human language.
Alternatively, as translated by his otterly ludicrous vocal chords: “Kyu.”
Neuvillette humbly wishes upon a star for a single day of peace. He gets taken in by Duke Wriothesley as an otter instead.

“Fuckin’ hell,” Boothill mumbles, his revolver drifting downwards. The vampire’s eyes widen, but it doesn’t speak a word, still patiently waiting for the hunter to put a bullet in it’s heart. “You… What’s wrong with you?”
“Eh?”
The world is plagued by beasts crafted by an Aeon, and the dead find no rest. Boothill- a monster hunter who exclusively hunts vampires- hears of a vampire caged in the ruins of Melustanin, the former city now encased in a barrier of roses. However, unlike others he's killed, this vampire lacks the brainless hunger he has seen so many times, and is unable to bring himself to kill it. Not wishing to let it live, he must convince himself that the man really is a monster.

A small chime of sweet, gentle laughter, contrasted so very sharply by the filthy way Argenti leans in real close to his ear and says: “Show me how you want to be touched, dearest ranger.”
So, Boothill got tangled up with Argenti once in the decorated halls of Penacony's hotel. So, afterward, Argenti had reached out with an invitation to his own personal ship, the One and Only. It means nothing—and it never will, not even as Boothill steps foot onto what is looking to be the ride of his life.

Aventurine’s head whipped back into place to face Ratio. Those words couldn’t be real. Not coming out of Ratio’s mouth, and not directed towards Aventurine. He needed confirmation. He needed confirmation that this was real, he wasn’t dreaming, he wasn’t insane, he was here, he was real and that actually happened. Because not even in his wildest dreams would something as impossible as this occur. Desperately, Aventurine seized Ratio’s arms which were loosening around him as he looked to him for validation.
Aventurine stared at him in horror.
Ratio was passed out.
