Nyarlathotep does not lie, but can be utterly dishonest with the truth. He will teach the secrets of the universe to those willing to pay his price, but woe to the soul and sanity of him who dares pay such a price! Sometimes, however, he grants favors to those who ask nicely.

After the Third Age, Sauron was reduced to a "spirit of malice, gnawing itself in the darkness" FOREVER. Without possibility of growing in strength again, or maybe getting bored and changing his mind--no, wait. He's one of the Ainur of Arda, trapped within Time like the rest of us. Change is the one great constant of Time.
The One Ring was definitely a major miscalculation. Sauron lost everything of himself that he put in the Ring, and everything made with the One Ring was unmade.

“I can tell,” Cody stated dryly, tapping a knuckle against one of the frames. “It’s impossible to type that fast. 900 words per minute? You don’t have that many fingers.”
“Oh, no, that one’s real.” Fox shuffled a few datapads around, the plastoid clinking and scuffing together. “Well, I did cheat a bit. I had Linkup hack into the chip in my brain so I can now connect to my personal datapad and impose my thoughts directly into a document.”
