Summary
Propaganda for the war was hung up all over the small village of Note. The country Overture had been arguing with their neighbors, Nightwell, for three years now. The idea of war was tossed around often but it never had occurred, until now.
The propaganda encouraged anyone able-bodied over the age of eighteen to join the war. They refused to accept anyone younger, but that still didn’t stop kids 14 and older from trying to sneak in. Some of the older teens made it through, the younger ones didn’t. Xander wanted to help fight even though he was only fifteen.
He wanted to prove to his mama and father that he could handle himself, that he was strong.
He wanted to be a hero.
