Rugi’s tone was reverent. “So that means…”
“What’re ya gonna do about it? Huh?? How’s that feel, ya smug bastard?”
“...Yoichi has a Meta ability!”
The room went silent yet again. Bruce narrowed his eyes at that, and Yoichi got the distinct feeling this meeting would not be a particularly productive one.

Just as soon as the dance begins, it’s over.
In the silver, the faint mist rays of light, he can make out a face. One that’s achingly familiar, one he knows like the back of his hand, yet isn’t familiar with whatsoever. A man, bronze skin pallid and devoid of the life Viktor is so used to seeing. Shaggy dark hair hanging in curtains around his face — a face littered with cuts and bruises, stained with dirt and soot. Heavy set brows and eyes wide in shock.
Rather inappropriately, Viktor’s first thought is oh, fuck. And his second. And his third.
Because staring back at him is Jayce.
While Ekko and Heimerdinger get sent to an alterate universe, Jayce gets sent back in time and is reacquainted with a much younger Viktor.

He pictures baking the ashes into bread and feeding them to pigeons in the park.
He pictures swallowing them himself.
Or: When Viktor chooses a quiet death, Jayce learns how to love him to the edge of the end and carry what’s left through the sad art of letting go.

‘’There was no other way,’’ Stephen says. Tony is looking at him with wide eyes – he’s always had these dark eyes, and Stephen wants to see them as long as he can – while holding his bleeding side, almost as if he can’t believe what’s going on.
‘’Why did you do that?’’ he asks, and his voice is so broken. Stephen doesn’t remember the last time they met under such circumstances. He wishes this life could’ve been different, and has to take a deep breath to stop himself from falling into Tony’s arms.
He already knows what has to happen to make sure they save the world. He wishes he could save Tony, but he has lived too many lives to be that naïve. This is the one lifetime in which Stephen will sacrifice his own happiness instead of hunting it –
and hope that he can get one more chance, after this life. Maybe the next one.
All he has left is the next one.

Summary
Stephen doesn't believe in love at first sight, but even he can't deny that Tony Carbonell has caught his attention in a way he can't explain. From the minute he steps into the coffee shop Stephen works at, there's an unspeakable attraction between them. It's mostly unspeakable because of one small, tiny, inconsequential detail: Tony is Italian and doesn't know any English. Or that's what it looks like, at least.
Not that Stephen will let something as trivial as a language barrier stop him from dating Tony. Even if Tony seems to be keeping some things from him.
